Meh, i found it generally easy as long as you look everywhere, especially with Leon and Chris. There's an abundance of health, to much.

Wesker: Knife. Umm.. well, i guess it has infinite swipes...

u can be wesker in the game??? y would u want to? hes the a-hole behind it all!!!

and battle mode on RE2? how do u access that?
BurnSide
You can be Wesker in Code: Veronica, he is one of 5 characters you can play as in the battle game.

Resident Evil 2's Battle game is accessed by obtaining an A rank in both A and B senarios in the DUAL SHOCK version.
tendo
oo...i just have the plain version tongue.gif for N64...i love that game, no matter how horrible the graphics are...
BurnSide
The graphics aren't horrible. They paved the way to the graphics we have now. And in '98 when it was released it was way ahead of it's time.

Compare the graphics to other games released in '98. Here's a few.

Sonic Adventures
Crash Bandicoot
Vigilante 8
Grand Turismo
etc.

Out of these, I do believe RE2 is the surperior one. The Resident Evil games are known for blowing other games out of the water with their graphical surperiority.
BurnSide
Do you prefer the pre-rendered Backgrounds of RE1, 2, 3 etc or the interative 3-D backgrounds of CVX and the like?
Janiel
funny how much the graphics changed from '98 to '99 compare RE2 and FF8...whoa
tendo
o...well...i got it on the 64...and banjo kazooie came out in 97/98, and the graphics are lots better compared to RE2...

Trick question? blink.gif

CVX has some of the MOST WONDERFULLY made Backgrounds in ANY game ever (besides Red Faction and REmake/RE0).

I beg to differ. RE2and 3 have surperior graphics to any N64 game as far as I'm concerned. Banjo just has better character designs. The BGs in B. Kazooie are poo compared to the beautiful dark, gloomy settings in RE3 and RE2.
BurnSide
Are you serious Tendo??

..?

Is he serious??

B/K was blocky, uncut and crappy looking. It's graphics simply don't compare. Hell they compare to Mario64 pretty well, but to Resident Evil, that's like comparing squares to circles. One is smoothe, the other is crap.

And no it wasn't a trick question, i'm quite partial to the pre-rendered backgrounds of Re2 and Re3, on the other hand the 3-D environments of CVX are still state of the art. In Re0 and Re:Remake they're pre-rendered are they not? Of course, alot better pre-rendering, what with the mist seeping through windows, shadows that bend over the walls and sway as the lights sway, grass that bends and sways, water dripping in puddles etc.
Nikolaos

Yes, they're pre-rendered, unfortunatly. But, I still prefer uber graphics over CVX's. I'm weird that way.
BurnSide
I totally agree. It's because they're so detailed and interative. I love the hallway behind the door next to kenniths body, you walk down it and your shadow grows longer. You can see the shadows cast by the chandeler creeking from side to side because the chandeler is moving. There is mist comming in the windows, man. The lighting is so damn good.

Too damn true. Those games have one of the greatest (if not the greatest) character designs in any game. I'm still not sure if RE4 will be able to keep up with the good old Old Skool Resident. dontgetit.gif
BurnSide
So far RE4 looks very promising, but there's something about it that gets to me. Maybe it's the sheer difference of the style. I dunno. It looks amazing though, blasting through doors and whatnot.

I sure hope it's as good as all the others. I think the one thing I'll be missing is the good old controls. People kept whining about them being "too difficult." Keep in mind, these are the morons that couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag. rolleyes.gif

This is probably been posted before, but do we have any Weapons update? All I've seen so far is the Knife, Handgun, Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, (sub) Machine Gun, Shotgun, and Revolver. I'm not complaining, but I'd like to know if we get more than those.
BurnSide
that's all i know off so far too.
yeah i hope the controls are the same. they're easy. forward is forward, how is that so hard!?
Nikolaos
I know. It bugs the poo out of me. AND the whole "Jump Factor" will be almost totally removed, now that you can always see in front of you. No more walking past a corner to be grabbed by a zombie that was hiding. *cries*
Shakezulah
i still think there will be plenty of "jumpy" parts, no matter how the game is. capcom always finds a way to add them in. but there is gonna be more intense scenes in the game to scare you rather than things jumping out at you. personally, i like that level of fear better. nothing scares me more than having to be rushed through something in those games. the situations that you can get put in are just damn freaky.
Nikolaos
I guess those types of situations are scary, until you're on a speed-run and you've memorized how to get through an area. o.O Nothing in the RE games scare me much anymore unless I forget where a zombie is and don't have an uberstick. blink.gif
Shakezulah
when i first got my PS1, the first game i had was RE2. i didnt understand how to play it. the controls didnt make sense to me. so my dad was the one that played through it. i watched him everyday and when he went into the interogation room or whatever and the licker jumped through the window, that scared the crap out of me. my heart was beating fast for like 10 minutes. that was incredibly scary for me.

Yeah, that was great.

Yesterday, I was playing Chris' battlegame for the first time and I entered the corridor where you find the 2 green herbs in the main game (Right after the Shotgun Parts). I had no idea there was a Mr. X in the little path. So, I just stand there thinking, and he comes out and smacks me. I was all "WTF?!" and jumped ten feet in the air. lol

Good times.
Shakezulah
another terrifying RE2 part was when Mr. X came bursting through the room with the torches and the gear in it and then you leave and he breakes thru the hallway wall again. god....Mr. X is one creepy....thing...whatever he is. but i think Nemisis will always be the scariest monster in the RE games. i hated to be constantly chased by him and then he catches up to you and smacks you in the head...and then picks you up and does his tentacle thing and you die instantly. i was afraid of having nightmares about him when i first saw him.
bobotheman
Resident Evil owns!!!...i broke my cd ...it sucks
Janiel
doofus, go buy another one sheesh

Yes. Nemsisi takes my vote for Scariest Monster. Although, Alfred Ashford takes the cake for being the Most Disturbed Character EVER. Try to laugh more insanely than he does when you're walking up the stairs to the Mansion Area (after the delapidated bridge).
Shakezulah
i read the Code Veronica book before i played the game and when i read how he was dressing up as his sister and being sexually interested in her...i was laughing really hard inside and i couldnt wait to see how that went in the game. i agree, there was something seriously wrong with him.

Step One: Buy the game.
Step Two: Play it.
Step Three: Be happy. thumbsup.gif laugh.gif

If you haven't already.

If you have, remove "Step One."
Shakezulah
i already did buy it. a long time ago. beat it too. and i was very happy. but i had to start the entire game over before i could beat it the first time because of the amount of ammo i had before the last boss. i had to resort to knife but it was taking forever so i just quit and started the game over. but it was good because i also got to correct some mistakes i made before leaving the island like not taking the fire extinguisher.

First statement (knife): You're INSANE! That boss cannot be defeated with the knife. >.> It's impossible. I'd have resorted to using up my last bit of hangun ammo before even TRYING the knife. The damage you'd suffer that close would be insane.

Second statement (extinguisher): My rule is as follows "If it disappears not, keep it." Remember this. Magic/Item Boxes are your friend.

i had already used EVERY little bit of ammo i had left. even my handgun ammo. i had to use the knife. but thats why i quit because it was too hard and it was taking forever.

You mean to tell me you were surviving? You didn't die? If you didn't die, I bow to you.
Shakezulah
o yeah. i forgot to mention i had infinite health on that game. lol. but i always do that the first time i play RE games so i can be prepared for it the 2nd time thru when i dont use the cheat.
Nikolaos
Cheater. =P

Let's see. Alexia II has about 5000 HP. Knowing that and that Zombies have 100 HP (average) and they take 7-9 bullets, it would take 70-90 bullets. The knife is about as effective as the hang-gun, but we'll make it weaker. So, about 75-100 knife swipes. NO one could survive that long without dying.

Edit: Updated with more accurate statistics.
Shakezulah
its not entirely impossible to beat her with a knife. ive seen knife walkthroughs online for CVX so apparently some one has done it.
Nikolaos

You've seen *hand-gun* and knife guides. I can beat the game with just the hangun and knife, but using JUST the knife on her would be suicide. Add that to the fact that you can't attack her Third Form with just the knife. Now, let's see. 100 knife swipes normally is about 100 seconds. But, because of her defenses, you'd get in about 1 swipe per 5-10 seconds. I've forgotten the number on the Timer when you start, but I've got a feeling it's less than 500 seconds.

Read my above post for some stuff I updated.

EDIT #2: I forgot to mention Alexia III's HP. It's 7000. So, even if you could reach her with the knife, you wouldn't have enough time to take her out after Alexia II. blink.gif

Good GOD I'm bored.
Nikolaos
Burny, when you read this, remember this: I was sleepy, I was cranky, and I had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much coffee. - whistling2.gif

Goodnight, all.
BurnSide
So what if you did, you're absolutely right. Alexia II is insanely tough with anything lower than a Colt and Shotgun. Alexia III flies in the air, so that's impossible to hot with a knife, and theres only a few seconds to do the whole thing in, so no, it is not possible with a knife.
Nikolaos
Heretic, I appologize if I cut you down. I realize I might have been rude. Gomen na sai. original.gif

Burny: I just tried to beat the game with the knife. Do you know how hard it is to kill Tyrant 1 with the knife only? It's IMPOSSIBLE! I've tried it something like 15 times and he ALWAYS knocks me back into the fire. It's hard enough with the Custom Hand-Gun, but the knife makes it impossible.
Shakezulah
its alright Nik. i dont know why u think you were being rude but ok. i accept your apology.

resident evil.....is very good.

Try fighting tyant 2 on the plane with the knife. I agree, to smegging hard.
Just can't do it.

heretic, agreed.

I would if I could get to him. o.O I think I got the closest on my last try. I think I almost had him and he knocked me back. *cries*
BurnSide
You know what's really cool about the Tyrant?
When i had C:V on Dreamcast, i downloaded a patch to play with the sniper rifle from the start of the game. if you shoot Tyrant with the Sniper rifle, a hole appears in him where you shot him, both an entry and exit wound. Not only that, but a nice trail of blood constantly spurts out. I shot him twice on the head, on on each side, he had blood spurting out on both sides it was really funny looking. Like a nice red waterflow.

That rocks, lol. Now, if only I could buy a Gameshark that works for the GC... disgust.gif
BurnSide
Damn gamesharks and their expensiveness.

That was the one thing i LOVED about the Dreamcast, hooking up to the net and downloading add-ons and patches to your games.

I was running around in Claires swimsuit costume, i switched Alfred and Alexia (like that made a difference lol), Steve was Wesker and Wesker was Steve, had 1st-person mode through the actual game, etc etc etc.
Nikolaos
UPDATE:

I finally killed the Tyrant (I was about to give up. blink.gif )

Got passed the Plane Tyrant, killed Nosferatu, and I'm to Chris' game. The worm wasn't so hard, but I'm having a tad bit of trouble with the two Sweepers outside of the MTF ( B ). disgust.gif I've never had this much trouble.
BurnSide
Ya no, i have toruble with them reguardless of what i use. Tough bastards. It's because of their positions. As soon as you go out there, they're on you from both sides and they're so damn cheap you can't even fire. Swipe, Swipe, Swipe.
Shakezulah
i started a new game CVX and im actualy not cheating! lol. but i couldnt even i wanted to because my ps2 is a pile of crap. it cant play blue bottom disk games and my Action Replay is just that. so i guess ill post my progress in it.
BurnSide
cheating completely ruins the whole affect of games such as these. the point is to be low on ammo and health, to not know whats around the corner and to worry about what is going to attack you without having enough ammo to take it out.

have fun!
Shakezulah
have you ever got through the first part of CVX in the graveyard without getting bit at least once? i cant seem to do that.
