Hinduism differs from Christianity and other Western religions in that it does not have a single founder, a specific theological system, a single system of morality, or a central religious organization. It consists of thousands of different religious groups that have evolved in India since 1500 BCE.
It's as Chauncy explained, Hinduism is an amalgam of various beliefs that evolved between 2500-1500BCE, from the various peoples which invaded India....such as the Aryans (who provided the Vedas and such) and Dravidians.
Why would anyone be a Hindu??......why would anyone want to be a Christian?? Or a Buddhist, or a Moslem, or a Taoist or whatever. Choice. Upbringing. Peer pressure. Thousands of reasons. Pick one.

I love the subtitle of this forum. People are born into different religions. Most of the time, people stick with what they were taught as a child. If I was taught to believe in Ganish, I would.

Because Hinduism in general hold that one must be open minded. And Hinduism accepts everything as god, including evil. Whereas most christians will say that god is everything and everywhere BUT..... and so on.

sorry, but i hold a few criticism on hinduism. First, it was created by men, They wanted to rule over women. they treat women as properties
and inferior. They were taught that a husband is like a god to a wife. In some parts of india they are burned when the husband dies. But
when the wife dies, the husband remains alive. The husbands dont want their wives to marry again after they die, they are pimps.Second, the religion is based on people having extreme respect for nature, therefore they turned
the animals into gods. For example, they deified cows, calling them "Ma", meaning mother, as in god. Fourth, whatever the media says
they believe, even when its false information or accusation. Then they all beat that person, just because the media villified him/her.
For example, when someone calls out thief, everyone runs after that person and beats him/her up, even thought he/she might be innoncent and

Gee... and the bible holds women in the highest regard and as equals to men. The bible also doesn't contain any anti-semitism. Early christians also never tortured women (as well as men) as witches if any old person declared them as witchs.
8 out of 13(?) reasons against Hinduism you mentioned are also apart of the bible, apart from extreme respect to nature (I have NO idea why you think thats bad... must be a case of the stupid) racism against islam (dunno if that's true, but it's just like the bible containing intolerence to Jews) and the turning animals into gods (which is because the gods are identified with animals because of the gods personality and attributes. all their gods are actually parts of a single god).
I also used the bible for reference because it is the only book I studied
Also forgot to add that the bible also has a trinity god - holy spirit jesus and well... god. All three are worshipped almost equally. So not that entirely different than Hindu's worshipping their gods

Yes, I am sure all Hindus are like that, just like all Mormons are polygamists who think black people are cursed by god, think Native Americans are jewish, and have little respect for women.
Oh, can't forget all those Christians who will curse you to hell for anything, hate homosexuals, and think that women are precious servants to their husbands. Lets not forget all the rape and murder in the bible either.

Also the caste system was quite harsh on the untouchables. Yes I am aware of what you are saying. And it is good you highlighted them out. I do not wish to piant a romantic picture of Hinduism, it would be dishonest of me.
But to say they are extremely racist against muslims is wrong. I myself have been to india and didn't find that this stood out. Also Hinduism at least (on the religious philosophy and theology) is open minded enough to allow everyone their own beliefs and different means of worshipping God or finding Nirvana or science for that matter. Hinduism is more open to change unlike most other religions and I think it deserves credit for that.
The animals symbolize the gods more than anything. And at least Hinduism unlike christianity teaches a doctrine to be kind and compassionate to Humans as well as sub-humans.
Also I have witnessed many christians also showing open hatred and discrimination against muslims simply because the media are going through a phase of linking terrorism with muslims. So people believing the media on flase information is a widespread phenomena that can be found in all cultures, whether religious, political or non-religious.
And even if they have made many of their Gods in the form of animals, so what??? They have literally millions and millions of different Gods that all reflect the one supreme Godhead Brahman. So they believe that the multitudes which are manifest in the universe are simply different aspects of the one Cause or God.
Other claims about Hinduism you have made there I can't comment on because I havn't researched it yet.
