I have an idea, how about we have an annual awards thingamajig? It would, sorta kinda, validate the vast amount of time we all waste on this forum each day. We could have categories, like best moderator, poster of the year, sexiest poster, best thread, member most likely to snap and climb a tower, so on and so forth.
Of course we'd need Saruman's permission, I'm sure this would be an effort to set up. But it would be a lot of fun.
What do you think?

I think that's a great idea. And I'd like to be in the running for the most arrogant and annoying member. Can't let your title go uncontested..

snuffy, it might be an idea after SaRuMaN sets up a thread to have folks nominate others for selected catagories, then set up a poll for each and a time limit for voting. After the limit, he/she with the most votes in that catagory wins.
Just a thought. But I like the idea.

Yep, after we get the categories sorted out. How long should the time period be? We want to give everyone a decent amount of time to get their votes in.

I think a week would probably be a good time scale, perhaps one week for nominations and then one week for the voting.

That's a good idea, but I'm not real sure how to go about it. I wouldn't want the person who I nominated for most annoying to know I nominated them either.

I think it would be fun to know who nominated you so at least you knew who to thank.
Acceptance speeches are the ones I reacon we should give.

I like the idea of knowing who nominated who, of course we don't have to have a 'most annoying' category, it's still only a suggestion at this stage.
One solution to the problem would be - if someone wishes to place an anonmyous nomination, they could send me a short email with the person's name on it and i'll post those up on the board.

Someone suggested in the other thread 2 categories the best of the forum and the worst of the forum

I think that is a nice idea. it might help ease the problem of the most annoying category...(if the category gets nominated)

shucks. as ushual, i found this thread too late. im always in the wrong place at the wrong time. anyway, i think there should be a 'best debator' nomination, and a 'most active member' nomination.

I can see why some folks would want voter confidentiality (Avoidance of conflict)however you also loose transparency of the voting procedure.... we are all members of the forum, therefore no-one is 'an impartial third party' and unless they are publicly accessable you'll always get some muppet, be it openly or privately, crying foul.
Personaly I've no problem with folks knowing who I vote for or not and questions as to why. Of course if they think it to be a negative reason they realise they don't WANT to know
