yesterday, on another thread i wrote a vampire haiku. pretty bad. nonetheless, the first one i had written since highschool.
steve earle, musician as you know, spent one year writing a haiku everyday.
so i propose on this thread to write a haiku.
very simple rule to writing one. it can be about anything, does not have to rhyme, and must have 17 syllables.
i'll start off

my dad has had baked beans and cooked cabbage, stay away from the toilet.

it has to be written 5, 7, 5, i thought.

went camping sunday
my friend fell into the lake
and oh, how i laughed

i fought seven bears
they kicked my ass quite badly
i'll make them all pay

brilliant chico.
you could be right about the 5,7,5 bit. as i say it's been awhile.

to write a haiku
dictate it five seven five
chico told me so

I've never seen worse
Than these poor attempts at verse
Poets you are not

No poet am I

Go ahead and criticize

You might suck as bad..

haikus are quite dumb
although some can be funny
i doubt this one is :P

i'm not poetic
but haikus take little skill
so i enjoy them

my haikus are bad
so leave me alone, you ass...

It is most traditional
to write as haiku

cars moving too slow
delays my getting to work
look, dead deer in ditch

haiku thread goes on
like the neverending sky
like monkeys on speed

Awful rendition
of Japanese poetry
Dogs could write better

It's obvious then
Dog is better than Squirrel
with this poetry

I must protest
Cat far superior than both
on the matter

Dog,Cat and Squirrel
Are all helpless when Falcon
Swoops down and takes them

What's all this chatter?
An unexplained mystery
How I got this rash.

Flip back my eyelids
squirt some jazzy eye fluid
the mirror is wet

My face is furry
Shaving gel soothes razor burns
Monkeys, I giggle.

gaint hamster found
maimed a poodle named Winky
leggless crippled gimp

Wipe away my tears
Though you are why they still fall
Down these cheeks of mine.

my neck is so sore
from a camping trip to hell
i go again soon

The full moon shines down
Brightly on the Earth below
Watching over us.

chico del nacho
means "boy of the chips and cheese"

Looking back over
All of these wonderful years
Where did the time go?
