Sorry for not having got back to you sooner, was away tonight.. But anyway.. I use a PS plug-in called Knoll Light Factory.. Thanks to Barman, who I had got it from a while back.

you can download it here:
Knoll Light Factory

After you put this into your C>Program Files>Adobe>Photoshop 7.0>Plug-ins folder, you follow these steps:

on the image you wish to add the effect to, you chose "Filters>Knoll Light Factory" . This will bring up a common "Filter's" window. you can choose the position of the effect on the image within this screen, the brightness of the light, and the size of the light. You can also click the "Browse" and browse with the same folder mentioned above, to chose from nearly 40 different flares. you can customize the flare size, shape, reflection, color, wings, circles, glares, and everything within this window. It is a very complexed filter that adds a LOT to your work..

In this particular case, I added the flare on the teeth in one position at one size, copied it as a frame to my animator. I then enlarged the flare slightly, and copied this frame into the animator, and then gradually went up to the wanted size, and back down the same way I came up. I then did this same thing in a different position on the image.

hope you like it and hope I explained it well enough.. Enjoy grin2.gif

Thanx for the info Venledar!!.... I downloaded it and am checking it out..... awesome plug in!

Well you have ago then. Everything you need is in the first post. The animators here are very good and if they can't do it, it must be hard.

Barman might be able to do it though. I am yet to see him say "sorry thats too hard".

I will do it if you find me that same picture without the "2" in it, and then another picture with just the "2" in it... I could then do it... but the reason everyone is saying it is so hard, MoG, is because if we were to cut out the "2" to spin it, it would leave a white space in the spot that we cut it out at, therefore, we would have to create our own background. And that picture you gave us is a very detailed screenshot, and cannot just be minipulated with paintshop or even fireworks very easily. It would take a lot of graphic design talent and a lot of time, which alot of us don't have. But if you get me the pics that i mentioned above, then you will get what you asked for grin2.gif

Awsome Wabbit grin2.gif

I dont even know how to use all those programs u guys mentioned....I'ma try and work it out in paint person.......all that technical stuff....I leave for you pros.....although someday I hope to learn how to do all that neat stuff........I'm still a beginner.....just been using paint and ms gif animator, for a couple months now, and just now trying to become familiar with Ulead.....so I am way behind all of you......but I try to practice with requests if I get a thought about what I might be able to do......and I will learn a lot from watching you guys original.gif

Thanks, but I'm far from a pro, Saynt. I just started playing with Paint Shop and Animation Shop 2 months ago. To make the spinning "2", I used the Word program, which allowed me to rotate the number and save it frame by fame into Animation shop. My Word program is part of "Word Perfect" so that it doesn't have all the toys I used to have to make cool writings with more colour choices which Microsoft Word had. The "Battlefield", I cropped from his original image and erased the background, used the "text animator" in Animation shop, then pasted the frames into the background I found. As you can see, it's quite simple once you think about it wink2.gif yes.gif

I've never used Ulead or other gif animator programs yet... I'm afraid I'll never sleep if I do, since I spend so much time on the one I have already and I'm enjoying this a bit too much laugh.gif
Venledar
Decent avatar wabbit.. That is exactly what I was talking about... with the three different layers to work with... nice work thumbsup.gif
thebarman
laugh.gif There I was, just about to have a go at that avatar and wabbit did an excellent job already, just goes to show there's always a way.

Did it with Word aswell, I love that, no flashy programs just a little will power, some intuition and heaps of talent. It's all very well creating avatars with Paintsuperproshop version 10 or whatever but it's another thing altogether to do it with word and a basic animator.

bardude is impressed thumbsup.gif
sayntbrigid
I have never heard of word believe it or not.....is that this? and if so does it work with XP? Thanx for your help ahead of time.

whoah! compliments from the pros.. that totally made me blush and absolutely made my day! I thank you both very very much blush.gif wub.gif

Might I add that it's because of you two that I decided to venture into the "animation" of avatar world? Your works are mighty impressive thumbsup.gif

Saynt, Microsoft Word is a word processing program. In it, there is "Text Art" which has different kinds of templates for, for example, embedded text. It's quite easy to use. I'm not sure if your computer came with it, but mine came with Word Perfect, which is a different word processing program original.gif
sayntbrigid
Word perfect, ok thanx Wabbit.......I will have to look and see what I have, .....I am one of those people that is trying to learn computer by pushing all the wrong buttons......LOL

but I will figure it all out someday grin2.gif yes.gif

I am wondering if anyone could help me with something.

I really like my current avatar but would like to use it on another board as well where the max size is 100x100 pixel and 12288 bytes

I tried putting it in my gif animator and removing some of the lightning etc to try and get it down to a usable size without sacrificing alll the color (i was able to make it small enough by reducing color but it ruined it)

When I put it in my gif animator to remove frames.... it lost its "offset: and became a solid block square and the offset aspect was gone which is what i like about it.

Could one of you manipulate it to still have some lightning with the offset intact?

Thanking you in advance for any help.

Cat wub.gif
sayntbrigid
Hehe, I know how to do that one .....LOL

Animation edited out middle picture as per edited request crying.gif
sayntbrigid
this should be a small enough file.....lemme know

okay you have to explain to me what you used to accomplish that?

When I put it in my gif animator and tried to remove a couple frames.... it turned into a square block.

Thanking you advance brigid!!
thumbsup.gif
sayntbrigid
I used ulead, and took out all but the first four frames...I deleted them using the x at the bottom of the program....I tried to keep the last one with the extra lightening, but it made the lightening too much I think for just the four frames.

I am trying to learn this stuff and I use Selteco.... this is what i get after I remove a couple frames and save it again.... it loses the offset.

Brigid is there anyway of adding back in just the flash to the far right and still having the file small enough? maybe remove a tiny bit of color if neccessary?

Lighter, and keep the end lightening....will give it a go.....brb

hehe yes I am just wondering if there may be a way of "splitting the baby" so to speak.... keep that last little lightning and sacrifice a tiny bit of color? in order to fall within the limited file size that i am dealing with.

Or even taking the size down to 98x98 pixel or something?

I am just throwing out ideas... will greatly appreciate anything you can come up with.

Cat wub.gif
sayntbrigid
how bout this .........what do you think? I slowed down the first frame to make the extra lightning not be so overwhelming, and left out all the darkest frames......what do you think?

I'm happy I could help somebody a little cuz I'm just learning too original.gif

except loosing the dark frames, looses the horizon variation in color....well, see what you think

I really appreciate all your help brigid and it is all a learning tool for me as well.... I really like the flashes after the lightning.... is there anyways of having them? maybe take the pixel size down a few? like 95x95 or something?

I checked the size on this newest version and it is showing as 9000 something.... and I can go as high as 12288.

I hope this isnt being too picky.... its just that i really like the original version of this avatar and would like to stay as close to the original as possible even if i have to reduce pixel size a bit.... hope that made sense.

And i do very much appreciate your patience and help with this!
sayntbrigid
oddly when I size it down, it boxes together but somebody might have a program that will resize it and doesnt ......in the meantime I tried this one to see if you like it.......

but it says 11.72k
