I'm sorry Wabbit, I just am upset seeing them speak to Barman that way.....

Barman remained a gentleman, and I am proud of him every step of the way. I will sign up and step in there with him if he wants me too, ..........I might not be so eloquent as he......They have been made uncomfortable, yes very much so by barmans polite but strong presence, and right now I am just upset that the little creep is acting like she just got that tutorial from a friend, and the others do not yet know that there was more that she took, I think they should.........It would make the point that Barman is not griping about just ONE instance of theft from our posts.

U dont like my avatar? how come? what about her gives you the creepies ? tell me, I could use the chuckle grin2.gif
wabbit
yes, your avvy gives me the willies.. laugh.gif

I've registered to that forum, just to write the creators. I'll keep my comment off the forums for now, but I will definitely complain that some of their users are using copyrighted material..

I took that right off their website.. so needless to say, they are in the wrong..

Maybe SaRu could find a way that any avatar made in this section could not be right clicked and copied ? I dunno, just a suggestion.. dontgetit.gif unsure.gif

The only trouble is, then they wouldnt be able to use the avatars we made them LOL grin2.gif
wabbit
sure they would... we could PM them the URL or avatar.. it's very simple.. yes.gif

Ur right we could, and they could copy paste and save to their own storage from that......of course they would have to pm us their pics for us to animate them too wouldnt they? We would not be able to copy paste them of this forum to work on them, they would have to send a pic to each of us I guess........? Or am I still missing something? Which would not surprise me LOL
wabbit
no, Saynt.. they would ask for the animations to be done in here.. we could post the replies here, but the "right click" feature would be off so that no one would be able to use what we have created.. we could then send the requestee a PM with the URL/avatar for them to use..

does that make any sense? huh.gif

That part I got, but how would we save the pic they want us to animate for them to work on it if we cant right click it to save it to our pics to work on it......? is there another way? I right click / save to my pictures, the images they post for us to work on.......how do you do it? you dont right click save the pic they want you to work on?
wabbit
yes.gif of course I do.. laugh.gif

I guess they would also have to send us the pic they want us to animate.. it's actually pretty simple, sound like a treacherous way to get things done, but if we want to keep our avatars we create copyrighted, this might be the only way to go about it.. hmm.gif
sayntbrigid
Honestly Wabbit, I dont mind that she posted it there, I just mind that she is acting like she didnt take somebody elses work as her own.....If she had said this was done by so and so at such and such a place. or if had only happened once..........but she has done it repeatedly.........nobody else did, just her, and Barman called her on it........I dont think she will do it again........in fact, when the Moderators see the posts, she will most likely be banned, and barman will be our hero grin2.gif

I browsed the whole thread, it is obviously not a common thing done by people, she was the only one, and Barman called her on it, she got caught, and she will prolly be banned........in short, it is prolly already taken care of........we are prolly just all a little upset right now, and not thinking what will happen when their mods see it. Their mods will visit here and see these posts and know she was not doing it by accident.....it was deliberate, and repeated original.gif

Just to keep you all updated, here is my reply to her PM, and her response:

========================================

thebarman

It's also customary to quote a source, had you credited the work to unexplained mysteries there wouldn't be a problem.

I'm not thorwing a fit, you are in breach of the rules of this forum which quite clearly state that you arn't allowed to copy stuff without saying where you got it from.

I'm flattered you found my tutorial helpfull, but would prefer it if you just put a link in your posts giving credit where its due.

As for seeing those tutorials on other forums, if you'd be so kind as to let me know so I can go have a "fit" on there as well. I've seen it on a couple of other forums too but they all credited me.

Anyways, that said, I hope the issue can be resolved and I'm glad you find my work usefull.

thebarman
=========================================

and her reply:

Well I am sure we would all prefer things done differently.

I would have preferred a PM asking me about the tutorial than you just BURSTING onto the thread screaming at me and calling me a THIEF!

I was sent YOUR tutorial by an online chat friend who was teaching a few of us how to animate ..... he seemed like an expert to us newbies and he said he had tutorials that were very super simple and would be a big help to us.

He sent them to several of us.... he also made us avatars, signatures etc etc.... and he said if we needed any avatars made or if we had friends that needed avatars to just send him any requests.... so I did.... and he sent me back avatars.... sometimes he would do almost all the work and then show me how to complete them or reduce the size or whatever so that I could keep learning... and then he would tell me to just take credit for the avatar because I HAD worked on it too.

Now it seems that perhaps he stole them from your site?, or had your animators do most of the work?.... I really have no idea!.... and I dont want anything to do with the whole mess!

All i know is that I was under the impression that HE was the one doing all the work and that those tutorials were his..... plus he was always encouraging us to USE them and share them with other newbies who were trying to learn animation.

Polly
=========================================

It's getting pretty ugly now, I should have brought up the fact its not just my work that was copied so I apologise to saint and wabbit for that. Lets not lower ourselves to posting things over there I'd rather just move on. I've shown them they're rules and they still just don't really care.

I had no idea the work we did here has spread across the internet like that, I only wrote the tutorial with maybe a few dozen people in mind, who'd have thought it would be whizzing around cyberspace like that. I'm still a little peed off we wern't given credit as the original artsists, but hey, I guess in a wierd way its kinda cool cool.gif
wabbit
I'm not about to post there, barman.. I just want to point out to the site creators what has been done which I only think is fair and a good way to act, in this instance. They have rules, so do we and their rules have not been followed..

I'm curious to know who her "friend" who sent her the tutorial is, though... might it be a UM member? huh.gif dontgetit.gif
sayntbrigid
Barman, I remember some member here asking permission to have avatars made for members of his forum, dont remember who it was, but you said it was ok, as long as credit to the maker at Unexplained Mysteries was given in their posts.......I dont remember who it was.......I wonder if that who she is talking about?

It could be, there are two "guests" reading this topic right now, they may be closer than you think...

sayntbrigid
where is your pic wabbit? grin2.gif
sayntbrigid
I mean (being very on topic) is there a pic of you somewhere that you would like me to animate for you Wabbit?
thebarman
Once again, to keep you updated here are my PM's:

=================================
thebarman

You're right, perhaps a PM would have been more appropriate, but understand I had no idea what I had done had spread so far. I thought I was doing a little tutorial for maybe a dozen people to read, if that.

I didn't even know it could be spread by file transfer, your posts were reported to me by a different member and they were so word perfect I naturally assumed it had been copied from UM which is copywrighted.

I never meant to come across as though I was screaming at you, I always encourage newbies to animate, thats pretty much all I do over on the other forum and I remain flattered my work has helped others.

Anyway, point made on both sides I think. I'd rather put this whole mess behind me,

happy animating

=======================================

and the reply

Well the whole thing is a mess, my friend led me to believe that those tutorials were just something that he tossed together to help newbies learn to animate..... he was always sending them to people and telling any of us to share them with others if it could help someone who was trying to learn animation.

And when I mentioned to him that I had seen them on a couple sites he just said "Ya a lot of people like them for teaching animation" like he couldnt care less that they were posted here and there by people.

(Well now i know why he didnt care, they werent his)

He also made avatars for us and told us if anyone we knew needed an avatar just to send him the request.

I had no idea that he was using your stuff!!!.... do you really think i would be so stupid to go posting it here with my regular posting name on a hugely popular site like Rotten Tomatoes that has thousands of members if I had knowingly STOLEN it?.... i would have to be a total IDIOT to not think someone would see it!

Lots of times when I or others sent him a request for avatars... he would send back all the single frames and then tell us to assemble it and get the practice and at the same time that we should take note of the animation on the single frames... that it would be a good learning tool for us.... and that doing it that way we were actually making the avatar because we were assembling it.

Anyways.... sorry for this mix-up and sorry to any of your animators who did work and were not given proper credit.

========================================

Right, that was an apology, I'm happy now. I don't think this will happen again and we can all move on thumbsup.gif
sayntbrigid
Barmans happy, I'm happy original.gif

you didn't sound rude at all, Dante. original.gif

You must remember that most animators in this thread are in the learning process, so that whatever you might request, we might not be able to create for you initially, but after a while, we might learn how to fulfill your request(s) and other's requests thumbsup.gif

MOG, make sure you set the time separately for EACH pic, and click on each pic before and after you set the time, just to make sure the time for each frame is saved......hope that helps.

Keep trying, it took me quite a while to get comfortable with setting the time for each frame original.gif
