I am a member of a different board and when I tried uploading my new and improved Avatar there, it prevented me from doing so with the following message:

"The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 14.6 KB (whichever is smaller)."

I checked and this size is 29kb. Is it possible for you to shrink it just enough for it to qualify according to their rules and still have the awesome functionality that you gave it?

Here you go...not quite as good quality as your current one, but 14.5 kb. In order to maintain decent color, I had to remove a frame.

I just realised this may be a bit confusing, as the picture looks like he's pushing him to the right wall. They're actually backing up, so the whole background is sorta the wall.

It doesnt fill in neatly becuase its very "graduated" but you might like it......here it is with both sides filled, see which you like best......its what you like that matters

There's some gook on the left guy's shoulder on that one (unless that's what you mean by graduated, but it looks good.
Would the avatar be too large in memory if you were to make the background swirl around a little in a neat way?
If the different colors mess up the image, maybe the animation could be the background behind them filling in black from the right to the left when the knife flashes (Do one with the knife flashing and one without b/c the flash might make it look weird.)

Hi all, I'm obviously new here, but very interested in knowing how to do my own avatar, first of all, what are the complete programs that the animators are using frequently. Is MSGIF and Ulead the only things being used, what are basic requirements ona computer to make animated avatars such as an anime or movie one?I have infact download the programs, i have the ...sigh....15 day trial of ULead...though i;m only going around the program messing with it, not reading a whole lot..I just wanna get my hands dirty LOL...but i have also seent the tutorials ont he front page, i have MSpaint...just wondering if there are other things and programs being used out there to make more cool looking avatars. Sorry for the long post.

The Folowing avatar is something i would like to create.

I'm going to try to do my own animation on my avatar for this one, SayntBrigid. I also have the trial of Ulead and I have figured out how to use it in union with MS paint. I would also like to know if there are ANY free programs out there that have the functions of Ulead.
I've heard of something called Project Dogwaffle that supposedly is free, but I'm not sure the functionality / reliabity of it or if there are better free programs


Also, Max, I'd say that's probably more of a clip from an actual anime than an avatar created with programs. There are some video capturing GIF converters out there, I'm sure. The people here probably know better than me, though

That is correct, that wasn't created with an animation program that was drawn frame by frame.

That would require some serious work, where photos are concerned my abilities to animate are mainly limited to effects or small movements ie:blinking. Someone walking into a room and turning their head is almost impossible from just one frame, sorry.

ok so i was looking to get the recent peter crouch 'robot' dance into an animated GIF that is 50x50 pixels and not bigger than 2.9 kb,
Is this possible as i'm not great at editing these kind of things, i have 5 photos of the dance in question
I'm not looking for anything fancy, even if ist just the pics looped. it would be much appreciated if anyone could give me any info about it

MaxXBlaze, there is a program called fraps that is capable of taking screenshots from movies, thats the only way ive done movie frames.

brianfraggle, post the images, i'm sure someone could get it together for you

Mmm, 50x50 is possible but incredibly tiny, below 2.9kb is virtually impossible.
