If your like me, when you come under sleep parylisis you cant move at all (I spent something like 4 hours argueing with "something" to let me free" promising I would come back and it could finish whatever it was doing (in the end I feel asleep)) anyway simply roll your eyes forward in your head until your pupils touch your skull.. It does something to wake up the brain.. since this hurts me I guess its enough to wake up my bodily functions.

I have a better idea.

When you become aware that you are in a state of sleep paralysis, relax!

This may sound odd, but it works. For some reason when sleep paralysis occurs a defense mechanism is activated in the brain. This is what causes a state of fear. Try to over ride that fear, do it in anticipation of what lays beyond.

Allow the feeling to happen, don't try to prevent it......make it happen!

This will rid of the notion of 'paralysis'.

Personally, I get sleep paralysis when I sleep too much.

In order to break out of it, I focus on moving just one thing a little bit, usually my foot. I keep at it, making it shake harder and harder till, suddenly, a give a little kick, and that snaps me out of it.

Above all, definitely relax. Struggling with your entire body won't get you anywhere.

Moving my body makes it even more scary. I move my foot but I don't feel anything...just the movement of the bed. I can actually snore loud enough but it takes a while to wake me up. This morning, I managed to scream somthing like "ohhh ohhh" and I woke myself up...but it was freaky the way it sounded. Right before my mom died this last February, I went home (I'm in the Army) and I slept on the same bed...I've always done it since I was a kid. Anyway, I got SP and managed to say"moooom, wake me up...I can't wake up" and she woke up and started shaking me but it took like 3 minutes...so I guess I get the heavy kind, hehe, and her touch felt weird...it was desperating because I could hear her wispering my name to wake me up but I couldn't talk back or wake up. And long time ago, she told me she used to get it, but we never knew it was SP...we only knew it was weird and scary.
