ChrisC098
I was thinking it was the hole. I mean its in a bunch of levels but I guess thats probably not it.
BurnSide
The hole?
ChrisC098
Yes the hole thats in your bathroom and in the closet.
BurnSide
How could a giant worm be the hole in your room?
ChrisC098
1. You never see where henry comes out he just wakes up and hes there.
2. Its silent hill.
BurnSide
You're right, it is silent hill.

As for where he comes out, in the subway i'm pretty sure theres a hole at the top of the escalator, and in the city level there is a hole directly behind where you come out, and besides if you go into a hole and go back in the hole through your apartment, you'll appear at that hole again.
ChrisC098
i said it probably wasent right but to get the whole story of silent hill you have to think outside the box.
BurnSide
That you do, and hey it's as good a theory as any.
jpalz
This is what I love from Silent Hill: that we can discuss the story and have many theories about it. Very few games have that...
BurnSide
Yeah. Because the story is so abstract. It's really amazing how it's done.
ChrisC098
I like how you can understand and know nothing at the same time. That makes no sence except for with silent hill.
BurnSide
That's a good way of putting it.
You understand whats going on, and at the same time, have NO clue.

Cool.
ChrisC098
Ive played Silent Hill 1 a few times and ive read alot of stuff on the game but im still not positive anyone outside of konami knows the whole story. Silent hill 2 however I feel theres something im missing. Like I know it but it just isnt there.
jpalz
Yeah, me too. The other day I read a very interesting theory about The Room.

We know Henry is a very shy guy, and this "hole" thing might be some kind of trip to the outside world, but due to the things he witnesses he always comes back to the home, mother home. We can see this after Henry goes for the first time into the hole. It's as if he was coming out of her mother's utherus, being born.
In the end, this is all about being lonely, and how Henry goes through all the monsters around him so he can be with anyone, and as he fails to stand what happens, returns to his home, until he is finally able to come out (Keys of Liberation). I know I'm not explaining myself very well, but I hope you've gotten the point of the theory.
ChrisC098
That was about my line of thinking and im glad im not the only one who had that theory.
BurnSide
Yeah. Especially with Henry running after Cynthia and helping Eileen etc. He didn't want to be alone.
ChrisC098
Poor Henry was just sick of being alone. sad.gif
jpalz
Maybe that's the connection between Henry and Walter (apart from the apartment connection, of course)
BurnSide
Walter wasn't lonely as much as he just wanted a mother though.
ChrisC098
Eileen= The mother.

AHHA!
jpalz
That was weird. Mabe because he knew she would understand hs suffering, as we see near the end of the game...
ChrisC098
Yeah I dont think any of the other characters could understand. I mean she was worried about the kid as she was dieing in the apartment.
BurnSide
Hrmm i don't think Henry saw her as a mother figure.
ChrisC098
What I meant is that Henry wants her for hiss uhh needs and walter wants her because she is maternal. Thats my opinion anyway.
jpalz
Mmm... I like to think that too. That's why Henry worries so much about her to protect her for half of the game...
ChrisC098
The sad ending makes me so sad but i cant beat walter fast enough.
jpalz
Yeah, that ending sucks... I mean, I liked it but it was too sad. Even Henry dies!

Got lots of revolver bullets?
BurnSide
Save the silver bullets!!
jpalz
He has just said it!
BurnSide
I didn't notice. *shrugs*

Do Silver Bullets even effect anything but the ghosts?
jpalz
I dunno. Never used it against a normal monster, just ghosts (1 by the way)
BurnSide
Me too. Used one on Braintree and one on the fat guy in the Water Prison.

I found two.
jpalz
Braintree wasn't that hard. Just hit him with the allmighty axe (and Eileen's help) and quickly got impaled by the sword.
BurnSide
Yeah well, at the time i was very low on health and didn't want to risk anything.

I'd like to take this time to say that i've taken my SH story and am now re-writing it into a full length novel.
So far, i've re-written the intro.
BurnSide
Note: I don't care if no one reads it, you can if you want and comments are appreciated, but i'm pretty much posting them here for storage until i can get home and save it on my comp.

SILENT HILL
Chapter One: Silent Night

Harry was tired. He flashed a look away from the road to the the clock, which read 10:52pm. It was a hell of a drive from Sewell where they lived to Silent Hill. He really would have prefered to leave the following morning but his damn work schedule conflicted with their vacation plans; it was either tonight or never. The streetlamps flashed by the mountain road and blurred together in the darkness as harry struggled to keep his focus on the Jeep and the road ahead. The road was perched alongside one of the mountains bordering the quiet resort town and it's lake, and if he lost control of the Jeep it was one hell of a tumble down the side of the mountain. On the otherside of his red and black jeep the wall of the cliff loomed up high above him into the pitch darkness of the night.
Harry glanced quickly at his daughter. Cheryl was fast asleep, hugging her sketchbook to her little blue dress. Her short dark hair fell over her eyes and Harry reached over to brush it away from her face. It was Cheryl who had pretty much insisted on going that night. That way she would be able to wake up in their motel tomorrow and get as much time from their vacation as possible, instead of spending half a vacation day travelling. Harry agreed. His daughter was one smart cookie and even though she was only seven (seven and a half, as she always reminded him) she seemed to make most of the decisions for the both of them. Well, he thought to himself, that's women for you. He stiffled a little smile and returned his focus to the road ahead, slowly becoming mesmerised once more by the white lines droning slowly beneth his Jeep infront on the road, the sheer darkness of the drop down the mpuntain beside him as the Jeep rumbled on towards Silent Hill. It would be quite a view during the day, he thought.
Then Harry noticed a light in his rear view mirror. He realised it was a headbeam from a motorcycle, and felt something of relief. It had been about 45 minutes since he'd seen any traffic on the road, which was pretty much the only way in or out of Silent Hill on the north side of Toluca Lake. Friday night, 11pm, no traffic at all coming from or going to the busy resort town. A little eerie, if that was the right word for it. Cheryl mumbled something in his sleep. He smiled and turned his head to nod at the passing motorcyclist. It was a cop, he realised. A female police officer wearing leather biking clothes and a white police helmet on one of those wide police bikes. She nodded back to him as she passed on his left and then in a few second had turned the bend and the tail light was out of sight.
Harry took another glace at the clock. 11:13pm. Shouldn't be too far now, another 15 minutes or so. He contemplated waking Cheryl, she told him she wanted to see Silent Hill when they arrived, but there really wasn't much to see at the moment so he let her sleep abit more. One of her feet were tucked up beneth her on the seat. He hated it when she put her sandles on the seat. Then he noticed she had kicked it off. Such a good girl. Harry returned his gaze to the road, and spied a light in the distance. More traffic, he guessed. But as he passed the light source he discovered it wasn't more traffic, it was the same police bike that had passed him about 10 or 15 minutes before. Odd, the lights were still on, but it was almost casually discared against the cliffwall, no sign of the police officer. Maybe he should stop? Yeah he would stop. He turned his head back to the road and started to ease down and pull over. Suddenly a figure appeared infront of him. A young woman clad in blue. She shrieked and raised her arms to shield her face. Where had she come from!? Harry floored the brake and spun the Jeep to the side. The Jeep spun on the road, throwing him against the driver seat door, bashing his head. Suddenly it tipped, rolled, and that was the last thing Harry was aware of before the Jeep literally bounced off the road and off the cliff into the darkness below.
ChrisC098
Burn side when your novel is publish and your famous can i have the first autographed copy?
BurnSide
I highly doubt it'll get published mate. Mostly just a hobby to work on when the site is slow and work is boring.

Read the first part if you like and tell me if you think it's worth contacting konami with it. I don't think so, i'm not a professional writer afterall.
ChrisC098
Its really good. I would submit it but its up to you.
BurnSide
We'll see how the rest of it comes. Thanks man!
ChrisC098
Im looking forward to the rest.
BurnSide
Well, here is some more.

Harry reached up, touched his head. His hand came away sticky and wet. Blood. His mind swam with random thoughts and feelings. Bike on the road, woman in blue stepped out infront of the Jeep, Jeep went over, hit my head, hard. He opened his eyes and was suprised to be greeted by a brilliant white daylight instead of the darkness of the night he remembered from only moments before. How long had he been out for? Surely not all night. He looked down and saw he was still strapped into the driver seat at least, white light poured in the windows. Cheryl! He wiped his aching head around to the passenger seat.. it was empty. No Cheryl, no sketchbook, the door was wide open. And Cheryls white sandal was still on the floor of the Jeep. Had she gone off to get help? Harry quickly unbuckled his seat beat and against the resistance of his pounding headache, shoved the door open and hopped out.
Harry walked a few feet, then turned around to inspect the wreakage. He was shocked to still be alive! The Jeep was a complete write-off. It looked like a couple of giants had played soccer with it like children do with Cola Cans. The front, sides, roof were all crushed and mangled. The tumble down the cliff had evidently been rough. He hoped Cheryl was okay, where ever she had gotten to. He looked around quickly for her, not moving. What if she came back and I had left to go look for her, he thought. It was really misty, he could barely see 10 feet infront of him. Nothing but white mist in all directions, the daylight barely pericing the mist. He knew that Toluca Lake gave off an eerie mist, but never seen the town so devoured by it before. He looked up the cliff where the Jeep had plummeted from. His path was evident from the trail of broken trees and bits of the Jeep strewn everywhere. Maybe she was still up there, hurt on the cliff having been thrown out of the door during the fall?
Footsteps. Behind him on the road. Harry spun around and squinted through the fog. He couldn't see anything, but he had definately heard footsteps. Maybe it was Cheryl trying to find her way through the fog. The road he knew lead to Silent Hill anyway, maybe a 10 minute walk down the road. He started jogging towards the footsteps, which seemed to have stopped for the moment. Harry was suddenly glad he was wearing his brown leather bomber jacket, the air was suprisingly cold for August. Must be the reason for the mist. He jogged down the road, ignoring the pain in his head, wiping his bloody hand on his jeans. 'Cheryl!' he called out. No answer. Come to think of it, wasn't it this very road seven years ago that he and his wife had found the little baby? Huddled in a blanket in the gutter, he remembered..

Right here i'm going to add a flashback scene shown in the intro in the game of Harry and his wife finding Cheryl on the side of the road.
ChrisC098
Genious I love it. Ive been thinking of trying to wright my own silent hill but it seems like it would be one of the hardest things to do ever. To do it right anyway.
BurnSide
Yeah, well, that's why i'm taking a story already done. I don't have enough imagination to write my own story.

Why don't you do SH2 or SH3?
ChrisC098
I guess i could try. rolleyes.gif
BurnSide
More.
The flashback part.

Harry had met Susan, his wife, only two summers before the day they found Cheryl. They had met in Silent Hill in a small little coffee shop after she had waved him over, seeing as they were both sitting alone. She had lived there, but he was on a business trip. Harry was immediately attracted to her dark slim features, the way she smiled and flicked her hair whenever he complimented something about her. They had hit it off almost right away and the following summer, after many trips back and forth to Silent Hill, they had gotten married and settled down in Harrys hometown of Sewell. It was the perfect marriage and the following summer they returned to Silent Hill to visit Susans parents. On the way home they parked along the exit road of Silent Hill to stop in the nearby graveyard and pay respects to Susans grandparents. There they talked for an eternity in the silence of the cemetary before returning to the Jeep. But something was different. In the gutter was a little bundle of cloth and a tiny newborn baby. They had decided to raise the child as their own and told her at a young age that she was adopted. The three of them continued the tradition of visiting SIlent Hill every August for a few days but three years ago Susan had became very sick and passed away. Cheryl was more mature about it than Harry was, from time to time she would still cuddle him when she found him sobbing silently in their bedroom. The trips to Silent Hill had continued after, just the two of them, and although Cheryl had enjoyed the trips and loved seeing her grandparents it was the most painful thing harry had to do. He would leave Cheryl with Susans parents for a day and go off on his own to all the places he and Susan used to go together. The coffee house where they first met, Lakeside Amusement Park where they snuck away and shared a passionate night beside the misty lake, and of course the graveyard where he and Susan had talked forever that day when they had found Cheryl. Where Susan now lay and Harry had shed what must have been a million tears for his lost wife.

He found himself staring at that same graveyard now. It was the sound of more light footsteps that brought him back to the reality of the situation. Cheryl was out there alone somewhere and he needed to find her. If only it wasn't so damn foggy. 'Cheryl!' he called, starting into a jog again through the mist. He followed the sound of the footsteps and finally saw the first buildings forming out of the white haze. Well, at least the crash hadn't been to far from Silent Hill, he should be able to get some help and find Cheryl in no time. She was a smart girl she would probably be doing the same thing, looking for help. Harry wasn't worried, Silent Hill was a very safe town.
jpalz
Let's do a SH2 story, just like BS did with 1! One guys posts a chapter, then the other and so on till the end.
BurnSide
It wasn't long before Harry started to notice the first real signs that somethign wasn't quite right about Silent Hill. The silence of the town was complete, deafening even. Not a single car roared in the distance, no birds churped in the streets, even the wind was completely still, the leave sat on the trees like they were frozen in time. And where was everyone exactly? It was Saturday morning in the peek holiday season in a busy resort time. It was then that it dawned on harry that he had been in that car all night on the side of the only entrance and exit of the town and not one person had passed and helped him. Harry walked up to the first building on the edge of the town, a store called 'Jacobs Convienience' where he had stopped on their last trip to Silent Hill to grab snacks for the trip home. The door swung inward as he rapped on it with his knuckles. 'Hello?' he called, but to no avial. It was clear there was no one in the store. Rows of chips and candy bars, no sign of anything out of order. But no clerk. Harry closed the door behind him. Sweat started to form on his brow despite the cold stillness of the misty air. What the hell was going on? It had to be somekind of big event over at the lake, of course. All the towns residents were down at the lake. Or maybe they were all staying inside, avoiding the eerie mist and cold air. It was then he noticed a small figure standing by a white picket fence on the otherside of the road. The mist was so thick he barely even noticed. 'Cheryl!' he called out, and started across the street. It was definately Cheryl, he saw her clearer as he got near. Black short cropped hair, little blue denium dress, kneehigh white socks and white sandals. He was so happy to see her it didn't even register that she was wearing both sandals, but one had been left back in the Jeep. She had his back turned to him as he approached. 'Cheryl, are you okay?' Harry asked his daughter, but strangely she didn't respond, didn't even look back at him. Instead she took off running down the street, he sandals slapping the concrete.
BurnSide
You guys go ahead with that, it sounds like a great idea.
I'm gonna concentrate on my SH1 story though. Hopefully it wont get mixed up with yours. original.gif
jpalz
Okay. I'll wait for KCET's response if he wants to do it. If not, I will!
gaz
yeah sound's good jpalz
