what do you mean? Umbrella still exists...
jpalz
Oct 15 2004, 12:27 AM
In the beggining of RE4 we see that it has been wiped out... but you never know.
BurnSide
Oct 15 2004, 12:28 AM
Nope.
You really think after the government had to nuke an entire city in RE3 they would let Umbrella continue?
It's explained at the beginning of RE4 that it is 6 years after RE2, and Leon now works for the president himself after helping the government expose and disband the Umbrella Corporation. They are no more.

We'll have to wait and see... anyways, I'm more a SH fan than RE. I know the games will end sometime *puts Agent Smith voice* it is inevitable...
Shakezulah
Oct 15 2004, 12:31 AM
i think they could still be around. you never know what kinda plot twists they could add to the story
Janiel
Oct 15 2004, 12:31 AM
i didnt play much RE games, so i didnt know that umrella was disabled.....so basically theres nothing that can really happen after RE4?
BurnSide
Oct 15 2004, 12:32 AM
Well of course.
But that's the offical word. Still, Umbrella had ALOT of competition. Maybe we'll see the company Wesker works for!
Shakezulah
Oct 15 2004, 12:33 AM
yeah Wesker might have some kinda of secret that could bring Umbrella back so theyre more powerful than ever before. i think that would a great story for the final game
Janiel
Oct 15 2004, 12:34 AM
so there wes other companies like umbrealla? well, if thats that case im sure RE can live for a lot longer
BurnSide
Oct 15 2004, 12:35 AM
Wesker betrayed Umbrella in the first game. He allowed himself to be killed just after injecting a virus into his system made by Umbrellas competition company, which is unnamed. He explains all this in Code: Veronica X. He is part of the downfall of Umbrella! He wouldn't bring them back.
Shakezulah
Oct 15 2004, 12:36 AM
oo....hes gonna start Umbrella 2! lol
BurnSide
Oct 15 2004, 12:37 AM
He's not gonna start anything, he's an employee of a different company.
Shakezulah
Oct 15 2004, 12:39 AM
he'll probably end up betraying them too. i feel bad for the RE thread. its missing out on all of this action!
BurnSide

silent hill games are awesome and pretty creepy, especially in 2 when the game goes to "dark mode."
Shakezulah
Oct 15 2004, 03:16 PM
i think dark mode in SH1 was more scary.
BurnSide
Oct 15 2004, 03:18 PM
Yeah. In SH2 there was no 'alternate' Silent Hill.
The only thing that was remotely 'nightmare world'ish was the Labyrinth/Prison and at the end when we see the true form of the hotel.
Shakezulah
Oct 15 2004, 03:20 PM
i love it in SH1 when the whole town turns evil and the ground is all rusty. that was creepy.
BurnSide
Oct 15 2004, 03:21 PM
Yeah. That WAS good. I can't believe with the possibilities of the PS2 we didn't see that in SH3. I mean, we had the Amusement Park, but we weren't allowed to wonder freely at all through the nightmare world. Croc of crap.

Oct 15 2004, 11:24 PM
My two cents on this, but I'm not a big fan of the free roaming in SH. At least, not with all the fog and the fact that you can't see a thing and have to use the map every twenty seconds just to know where you're going... so I was actually happy that they cut the fog in 4!
BurnSide
Oct 15 2004, 11:41 PM
Bah. The fog was what made Silent Hill.
jpalz
Oct 15 2004, 11:49 PM
For me it was the "Otherside".
Not that I hate the fog, but it was so restricting when playing.
Shakezulah
Oct 16 2004, 01:08 AM
yeah buts the Fog is a big part of the scary factor cuz you can never see whats coming until its like 5 inches from your face!
BurnSide
Oct 16 2004, 01:09 AM
It was a little overdone in SH3 tho.
jpalz
Oct 16 2004, 01:53 AM
A little bit too much I might add. Yeah, it was important in the scare factor, but nothing can beat the bloody walls and the radio static. That scared me more than the fog.
BurnSide
Oct 16 2004, 01:54 AM
Agreed.

Is it just me or do the main characters of the game kind of adapt to the weirdness around them a little too quick?
Shakezulah
Oct 17 2004, 04:18 AM
haha yeah i always think the same thing but never mention it. i mean, they get into this freaky ass situation and five later, theyr fine with it. its like
-whats going on here?
-oo nothing special. the entire town is just f***ed up with strange monsters running around eating people.....like i said. nothing special
especialy Henry in SH4. everytime he had a conversation with someone, he acted like everything was fine.
jpalz
Oct 17 2004, 01:58 PM
Well, Henry is not exactly a very emotional person right?
ChrisC098

Okey, just before I finish writing the first chapter (I am really close KCET, I just had to explain all the story behind James and Mary- AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO!!!), but I need to know a couple of things:
1) What kind of car does James have?
2)What did Mary wear in the photograph (I suck at vocabulary)
3) How was Mary's personality?
BurnSide
Oct 18 2004, 10:57 PM
1) Make it up. It's boxy and blue, looks like a civic but isn't of course.
2) Mary is wearing the same thing as the Mannequin where you find the flashlight. It's a white dress with light coloured flowers all over it, knee-high, and a pink cardigan sweater thrown over. Her hair is in a ponytail with a pink hairtye.
3) her personality was sweet before she was sick. Sweet, caring, laughed at silly jokes, that kinda thing. Likes walks in fields on hot summer days.
After she got sick she started screaming, fighting, crying. Basically she was in horrible pain and torment which ripped James to shreds emotionally.

i have a question about 4... i heard something about if you pick up a doll, then those 2 headed babies will be there? what's up with that? o.O i'm confused
BurnSide
Oct 19 2004, 04:17 PM
The two-headed babies are always in the game.
1) If you pick up the doll and keep it on you however, there will be more enemies and they'll notice you quicker.
2) If you pick up the doll and put it in your box, the ghosts of babies will invade the wall of your apartment above your box several times, making it harder to excorise your apartment and stay healthy.
In conclusion, its a BAD item (why would you take something from the bad guy anyway?) so DO NOT take the doll.
ChrisC098
Oct 19 2004, 08:47 PM
I picked it up because I had no idea. I thought you had to use it somewhere.

Oct 19 2004, 08:53 PM
Me too. First time though everyone probably picks it up.

I was wrong however on the thought that it was the only posession that happens more than once.

This game is very awesome. it gives you a feeling of being trapped.
BurnSide
Oct 20 2004, 04:13 PM
Yeah. I felt trapped alright.
Trapped because in the levels i was unable to do anything but follow a very set path. In the other games there was always a sense of exploration, you were able to go pretty much anywhere in the town, in this one even the levels like the forest there was a path you had to follow which you could not deviate from.
I like the pervious SH games because they didn't have 'levels'.
ChrisC098
Oct 20 2004, 08:10 PM
Yes Silent Hill should not have levels. It should have destinations.

Oct 20 2004, 08:17 PM
Chapters maybe.
Not completable goals.

ChrisC098
Oct 20 2004, 08:32 PM
Well I dont wanna be in silent hill anymore. I want somewhere else to romp around in .free roaming yes.
