Ahhh hell guys, i'm dying to play some SH right now. It'll be fantastic to play under the influence of the green. SH3, hospital area. Awesome! Can't tho.

Apr 5 2005, 03:37 PM
The ghosts were just a nuicance to me. I liked the old school enemeys better.
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 03:51 PM
Agreed. The ghosts were easy to run around, and you couldn't kill them so what was the point of fighting? Especially if you had a few medalions, then they just get in your way.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 03:56 PM
lol, yeah.
Some of the riddles in SH4 ruled. Like the bit in the forest where you couldn't get through if you carried something.
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 03:58 PM
That did rule. I admit i was suck trying to find the key for some time before discovering the root that looked like a hand. It was pretty easy to guess i couldn't walk back with the key though.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 04:06 PM
It was the opposite for me

In silent hill two, I thought that that dude barfing was some super scary monster I had to fight, but than It turned out to be just some guy barfing. Good sound effects though! top notch job, makes me think somone puked into a mike!
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 04:25 PM
lol, yeah, Silent Hill two had some brilliant sound effects. The glass smashign was especially realistic
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 04:25 PM
That was a really good atmosphere creator.
But Eddie pissed me off. I was happy when i got to kill him.

A MOD USEING MILD PROFANITY

lol, yeah, me too. He was my enemey. I was happy when I got to stick it to those pyramid dudes too, even though they were kind of cool.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 04:30 PM
No way, you have to kill eddie? I didn't know that... bummer...
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 05:16 PM
haha Walken, i rule these threads.

They're my little geeky corner of UM.
Sorry Yona, i didn't realise you hadn't finished the game.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 05:25 PM
yeah, I just bought it three days ago, I am in the apartments right now.
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 05:27 PM
Nice! I love it when people play these games for the first time.
If you've found Eddie, you'll be close to the end of the Apartments area. Close to the BOSS...
What do you think of it so far?
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 05:30 PM
Awsome game, I like the entire Broken tv look, all scratchy! And the little cockroaches that attack you, freaked me out when I had the radio going off and I could not find a baddie, until I saw them scittering across the ground.
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 05:35 PM
haha yeah. Oh man there's a REALLY good part with the Cockroaches later in the game, freaked the HELL out of me.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 05:38 PM
Awsome! I can't wait! But, I do not understand why I saw a hardware store, and could not go into it! I would thing that he would bust the window with that cheap board and nail affair and get a chainsaw or something.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 05:38 PM
Oh my god I just remembered what you mean...
Yeah, you're in for a fright Yona.
Yona, you know that pyramid head guy you saw?
Well get used to him...
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 05:40 PM
haha yeah, he'll be around..
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 05:41 PM
You mean there is more of those things! great! They are the thing where you hit them and they skitter around right?
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 05:42 PM
No no, they're just normal enemies.
The Pyramid Head is a guy wondering around killing monsters and people with a huge metallic cone on his head. You should have seen him a couple times in the apartment buildings.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 05:44 PM
Ohhh that guy, but I ran from him because he looked tough!
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 05:44 PM
Yeah, but I tend to ignore them.
The apartments in SH2 ruled; and the painting in the historical societey

Burnside, don't give away any spoilers, but which endings did you get? I only ever got:
Water.
Leave.
Maria.
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 05:44 PM
Yeah. You wont be able to run from him soon.
He's tough. REALLY tough. You can't kill him.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 05:46 PM
cannot kill him! but what is the point of fighting him? is it like re:code veronica where you have to fight that axe guy but you have to run instead of fight?

More like, the Nemesis. You can shoot it, and make it go away, but it's useless to shoot it, you might as well save the ammo and just dodge him, he goes away by himself after awhile.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 05:52 PM
Oh thanks, because in most instances I would have shot and stabbed him untill my thumbs hurt!
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 05:56 PM
Is the rebirth ending cool? i always thought that one sounded good, but theres no place to see screenshots or the script. :'(
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 05:57 PM
Not really. I only saw it once ages ago, then my data got corrupted and i never bothered again. James basically puts a dead Mary in a boat, sails out to the middle of the lake on a little island, and starts doing a ritual. That's it.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 06:04 PM
Do we see much of the ritual? Herbs and gems ritual or naked danceing ritual?
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 06:07 PM
haha no, nothing like that. Just see James on the island, surrounded by fog. That's it.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 06:16 PM
Wow, that ending kinda sucks
I wanna see big explosions, the town torn apart by the government, fbi swat teams everywhere shooting the things, and grunts doing all the underground dirty work.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 06:17 PM
Thats what you see in RE2; SH isnt like that
(although Dr. Kaufmann did say that a millitary rescue squad was on its way in SH1...?)
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 06:20 PM
yeah, but a mix of the two, now that would be neat.
HEY! i just stumbled upon something... I'll make millions! silent evil it will be called, because Resident Hill sounds dorky..
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 06:22 PM
Kaufmann was speaking out of fright. Although he knew what was going on, he underestimated the power of Samael and Alessa. He thought that the power had simply wiped everyone out and created monsters, but infact the town was made completely sealed off from the real world, almost frozen in time. No military squad was coming, he just hoped there was.
Silent Hill is alive. Only people it wants in Silent Hill, can get inside Silent Hill. And only people it allows to leave can leave.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 06:25 PM
So does that mean that Silent hill is in a differnt dimension?
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 06:25 PM
Wow, that cool, where did you get that?
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 06:32 PM
Dimension is a sci-fi term, it doesn't apply to Silent Hill.
I wouldn't say that no, it's more like....
Hrmm..
Well, in FF9, the black mage village was invisible to everyone except when you were actually in it. It isn't true that SH is frozen in time per-se, because we see that in SIlent Hill 1 and 2 the times have changed. IN SH1 it's the 80's, and in 2 and 3 it's the late 90's early 00's, we see this reflected in the cars and the like in the town.
But, if Silent Hill has been deserted for over 17 years as suggested in SH3, how come SH doesn't look exactly like it did when Harry was there? How come the cars are new?
The town changes itself based on the persons mind who enters the twon.
Harry sees a small 1980's rural town with cars and the like from his time period. James sees SH differently, as does Angela, Eddie, even Laura. The monsters are created by the town reflecting the inner demons of the persons mind who is percieving the town, except in SH1, when it was actually Alessas power that was reflected over the whole of SH, and her inner demons Harry was fighting.
The town, therefore, only exists if it wants to exist, and only to certain people.
It's very difficult to explain.
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 06:34 PM
Aha! so It takes from our thoughts to create what we think a town is.
But, if the town is alive, why does it cause abject terror to those who visit it?
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 06:36 PM
But silent hill did have a material exsistence right, even if it was not within what our characters witnessed?
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 06:41 PM
Oh yes, Silent Hill does exist as an actual town, it's just able to change itself, it would seem, bend itself around the person who percieves it.
The land it's built on is evil. You'll find out why as you progress through SH2 Yona. Also, it was formed on land that was said to conceil demons by the ancient indians. It's actually the second time the town has been settled, it was deserted once before in the 1860's for several years.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 06:43 PM
The philosiphy and plot of SH is so cool.
So are you saying that the SH we witness is only in the characters minds, or are those events really happening IN that town?
Yona
Apr 5 2005, 06:44 PM
Wow, neat! But, couldn't you just fight the trees and stuff? Or is the entire town alive? would you have to kill the wierd demons first?
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 06:52 PM
It's not alive like it has eyes and watches you and stuff. It's alive in a different sense.
Alive with power.
For a long time Silent Hill lay dormant, it's dark history burried, until Dahlia tried to ressurect Samael using Alessa. Alessas power awoke the town, and now it seems to draw lost souls to it, creating visions of it's violent bloody past to torment, making demons from within the persons mind.
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 06:59 PM
The exactution method they used in the civil war as gross though...Icky...
BurnSide
Apr 5 2005, 07:04 PM
At least they got a choice.
Hanging, or Impaling.
What would you choose?
Walken
Apr 5 2005, 07:16 PM
I'd choose hanging actually. I'd imagine it;d be quicker, less painful, and less undignifying.
