Sort off... Silent Hill has very dark secrets that James stumbles on... hidden just beneath the Historical Society is a large dark network of prisons used during the civil war to torture and excecute POW's in a most gruesome mannor...

In the historical societey, you go down and down. You've gotta climb and drop down A LOT. Theres like two long flights of stairs, not includeing elevators and jumps into holes.

...How is it that after fighting You know who you come out at sea leval, when the historical societey was at sea leval when you went in...?

The thing with the Hisorical Society is it's not really as far down as it seems.


First off, the area you enter at the Historical Society is actually on top of a cliff face, and you come out at the bottom of the cliff next to the lake, so you have gone down.

However, most of the area there does not exist. The labyrinth of tunnels is mostly created by the town as James progresses, it doesn't exist until he gets there.
But the prisons are real, however James does not drop constantly into them, the dropping is actually symbolism.

James is jumping deeper and deeper into the dark secrets of his own mind. He is desending into his own psychie.

I realised that part, but then could that mean that all of SH was just formulated in James own ill mind?

And his mind was ill. I won't give away much for the sake of yona, but those that have finished the game and seen the final scenes will know what I'm talking about.

All of SH's characters were somehow tainted. James wife died, as did Harrys. Heather seemed like a rebellious teen; she probably did a whole lot of stuff behind closed doors, took drugs, ect. There are some metaphors in the game for Self-mutilation too, or perhaps I'm just reading too much into things. And Henrey was a loner; I don't think he had a job and wasn't exactly popular.

Could that mean that all of the events that passed in the Silent Hill series are not happen in a physical sense, but inside the ill mind of it's characters. I beleive an ending in SH1 explored this idea too. The characters were never confronting monsters or demons in SH, only the monsters or demons inside their minds.

Absolutely, it's quite a possible theory.
Laura does not see any monsters in SIlent Hill, all she sees is a deserted down that's a little foggy. Why?

Laura is uncorrupted. She is a small child and has no inner demons. Therefore she has nothing to fight.
Eddie was bullied his entire life. He sees the faces of his tormentors everywhere in Silent Hill. His demons.
Angela was raped and abused by her father. She killed him, and now she sees his face everywhere, and a terrible fire follows her, burning her mind and flesh.
And of course James sees distorted figures of Mary where ever he goes. He doesn't realise it, but his monsters are created from her image and from the hospital she was treated in.


Harry is different. Harry has no inner demons. What he fights, is actually Alessa's inner demons. The child was burned alive and kept in a comatic state for 7 years with wounds not healing. She was trapped in her own mind fighting demons and seeing visions of burning flesh. When Harry took Cheryl to Silent Hill, Alessas power was unleashed and she manifested her demons over all of Silent Hill as real.

Heather is a little different again. She is Alessa, but she does not know it, so she is confronted also by Alessas inner demons and actually manifests them where ever she goes, but she does not know why because she has forgotten her past life as Alessa.
She is a good kid, she didn't do drugs or anything like that.

The only connection Henry has to Silent Hill, is The Room.

I just stared playing Silent Hill 2. I know its old now but a freind gave it to me and I tried it out. I actually like it! It's Creeptacular! but there's a part that I'm stuck on and it's pissing me off! It's after the historical society. I went down the tunnel and hole. now i'm in this..i don't know...it's some kind of prison. I went into this room and got a key. my light went out and when it went back on, there were all these bugs and the door was locked. i need a code or something and i have no idea what to do. i don't remember seeing any access codes or whatever. can anyone help me?

There is no code or anything to find, it's actually just a simple problem you can figure out by looking at the panel.

The idea is to look at the illuminated numbers, and put those 3 in some order. No clues. Put on the flashlight near the door and try the 6 possible combos. One will work. For example, if 5, 3, and 6 are lit up, it could be 536, 563, 356, 365, 653, or 635.

In SH3 i thought the mall was tres boreing. I kept getting lost too. That torture place was groovy though.

Heather was abit of a weak character agreed. It was good that they had her, made for an excellent story, but she really didn't seem to react to the world around her like a real person would.

Yeah, those lyrics ruled. I still can't get the hang of playing it on the Gee-tar though.

I remember when the first starting filming RE2 in Toronto. That's only about 4 hours away for me, i was DYING to go see the filming, see if i could catch a glimpse of the wondrous Milla, but sadly did not. My toronto friends told me storys of how they had zombies on the streets outside their houses, and couldn't sleep at night due to the shouting and explosions. HOW COOL is that.

Anyway, that was pretty much exactly one year before the movie came out.

But for Sh we would need a super cool actor... mabye burnside could be in it, as the main character, and because he knows so much about it, he would be perfect for the role.

I did a play based on Silent Hill in college. Directed, and starred.

So what did you do exactly in the play? How did you make the feeling of creepiness? The monsters? The apartment? The flashlight?

What was the plot-line?

It was abstract.

It was about a guy who one night went out with a few friends for a drink, went to sleep, woke up the next day to find the town deserted. We used smoke machines.

It was more narrative than anything, and then monsters appeared. I used James' straight-jacket monster, basically a mask, straight jacket and makeup/paint to make it look like skin.

We used music from SH2 (Forest, Promise, Theme of Laura etc) and some really good lighting.

Eventually the audience was shocked to find he was being punished for his forgotten sins by the town, much like James. he was bullied, and accidentally killed someone. It was pretty good for an amateur stage show.

Wow... I wish I could make that. In my town its all Hamlet and stuff.
