I would love to write or be in a Silent Hill production or movie. It would be awesome. But I have a lot to learn, lol.
BurnSide
Yeah.
Back to the topic at hand. Yona, how are you doing on SH2 mate? Get out of the apartments yet?
Feenix Fire
I just did what burnside said about the trouble I was having with Silent Hill 2. Thanks again buddy! wink2.gif Now it's getting totally creepy! One part scared the crap outta me. LOL laugh.gif I'm such a wimp!
BurnSide
You're most welcome Feenix.
You're not a wimp for getting freaked out. It's Silent Hill, that's the whole point of the game. laugh.gif

You should be jumping down into a room shortly that terrified me. And at the end of that room i had to do something i really didn't want to do.
seeking
its been a while since ive played sh2 i remember the apts...i hated the apts, i did like the part were you see the fenced off hall and on the otherside was some sort of creature and then if you go back and check again its gone, that was way cool
Shakezulah
the first part with Pyramid Head where you are hiding in the closet was so intense and scary. that part made me ...idk...just curl up and hoped nothing too bad would happen.
seeking
i love the monsters in silent hill, they are so basic and "boot leg", manicans? pyramid heads? but they are some of the best at the same time
Shakezulah
ive actualy always thought that the monsters in SH were kind of the downside, compared to RE. especially in SH2. it was a great game but lacking in the monsters area, and the bosses were terrible too. they didnt get too creative in that game when it came to monsters
seeking
thats what im saying, the monsters are not creative at all, but because of it, it makes them seem a lot more then they really are
BurnSide
The monsters are GENIOUS, but only on a psych level. True they don't make for very action packed game play, and 5 bosses in the game, three of which being pyramid heads, and another being normal enemies later? Caman.

But it's all symbolistic, it's all the cancers and demons in James head, created by silent hill to scare and torment him, they seem familiar but he doesn't know why.. the mannequin wears marys dress, the creatures of flesh seem to be wearing straight jackets and the nurses, all from the hospital mary stayed in, etc etc.
Walken
Uh-huh. The monsters make it beleiveable, I think.

I agree, despite the very bad spelling mistake. But Burneys right, its all symbolic; evreything in that game is a metaphor for something bigger than the entire series.
BurnSide
Which is why SH2 is my favourite. IN SH3, none of the monsters really had any kind of connection or symbolism to heather, Konami it seems just tried to fill the game with freaky monsters.
Walken
Yes. Silent Hill one and two had an element that the latter just couldn't acheive. Silent Hill 1 + 2 told incredible stories and told them well. SH3 + 4 seemed like desperate attempts to put in some freaky action and put togethor a string-story around it. The areas of symbolism and storyline are few and thin in Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill 4 is even worse.

Oh please let SH5 go back to it's roots, and if it does, please let it do so on a good note and let it be the end. I can't bare to think that SH will end on a wrong note.
BurnSide
I know. It can't end with SH4, that's terrible. laugh.gif
I can't really think of any symbolism in SH4. The hell are monkey men and burping monkeys ment to mean?
And they even put Alessa's wheelchair in the game as an enemy. Why? Alessa was not in the game at all, and she is the only one who had any contact with the wheelchair. *shakes head*

SH3's story was good, i thought. I really liked that it continued the events of SH1. We find out what happened to Harry, although it was awful, sad.gif. It ended on a crap note though.
Walken
Uh-huh. Don't get me wrong, but I really don't buy; 'Oh thank god thats over; lets go back to our normal lives' even if it does have a lame and sick joke put within it.

Silent Hill two and one had an edge that the others didn't; they felt like teen slasher flicks.
BurnSide
Agreed, absolutely.
Well, fingers crossed for the next one.
Walken
Uh-huh; and let us keep a heads up for any-a information that unearths itself. I remember how excited I was when the first screens of SH3 were released in PS2M. Currently no new information though sad.gif
BurnSide
I know, it was really awesome. I was excited to see a chick in it, although i have to say, i expected less to be honest, and was pleasently suprised with the game for the most part. Of course the end was horrible, but the first time through was pretty scary.
Walken
Uh-huh. After SH2 I wondered whether they'd ever be a character who wasn't a boreing middle aged guy.

Uh-huh. The moments in the themepark in the dream defined the game. It made me sad. But I think heather should've reacted A LOT more. Instead she sort of just delt with it; 'There are monsters here. Hmmm....time to start picking up irrelevent items in a vague hope that I might need them later.'. James and Harry both had an intresting cut scene at least to show how they realised what was going on or realised that something was wrong; HArry's opening with the alley, followed by the bird in the cafe, and James moment under the bridge with the straight jacket thingy.

Burnside, do you have the double editon of SH2 with the makeing of DVD? I do. It's awesome. The inspiration for the straight jacket monsters bodies shape and movement was a guy wearing a hoodie listening to a cd player and bopping to the beat.

I traded it in though, so I could get the directors cut. Twas alright, but Kanomi claimed the new scenerio could add on up to five hours gameplay, where as I completed it in 20 minutes.
BurnSide
Maria's senario? Yeah it was pretty weak, fun though. I like how it explained a little more.

I don't unfortunately, i just have the very basic edition, although i have seen the whole thing online. I agree, the inspiration was rocking, literally haha.
Walken
lol, yeah.

But Marias scenerio was Lame. And since she was born by james as evreything he wished Mary was, how could she exsist without him?

I liked stabbing the straight-jacket demons. grin2.gif
BurnSide
She cannot exist without him. Just like the monsters can't.

It's just like i was saying. The monsters are James' creation from his tortured broken mind. Maria is no different at all from the monsters.
Walken
Then how can she exsist without him in that scenerio?
BurnSide
She doesn't, she's born the moment James enters the town, just like the creatures.
Walken
If so, then how can she lead a seperate exsistence to James? That scenerio is fully detached from him, after all.

Burnside, what does 'there was a HOLE here. its gone now' mean?
BurnSide
Probably exactly what it says.

There was a hole. Now it is gone.

In SH 1 and 3 the town as we see it shifts to Alessas nightmare world. In that world, some walls that are there in the real world, are not in the nightmare world, and vise versa.

I suppose someone saw a hole there in the nightmare world, and saw it dissapear as the world shifted back to normal.

It's there mostly to suggest that there are more people in Silent Hill following their own paths and stories than we see.
Walken
...blink.gif

You don't think it's deeper than that?
BurnSide
Nope.
I know you can't do anything with it. It's just as it says.
There was a hole, and now it's gone.
Walken
Oh....sad.gif

I want it to mean something more.
BurnSide
Not everything is something crazy huge a deep. laugh.gif Sometimes you just got to take it for what it actually is.

You should be jumping down into a room shortly that terrified me. And at the end of that room i had to do something i really didn't want to do.

Burside, are you talking about the large dark room with that thing that they hung ppl with? Please tell me that was it! It was creepy with that thing running around the room! and then I found some doors that I missed. and went into a restroom. I knocked on the door and when I tried to walk out, i guess something jumped out and screamed. It scared the crap oughta me! crying.gif I didn't want to stick around to see what it was so I left really fast and haven't played since! LOL
Walken
Oh, with SH your curiosity has to jump over your fear.
BurnSide
hahaha, well no, i wasn't refering to that, but that's a good part too. grin2.gif

The part i was refering too, was this part where you jump down into this room like a giant morgue, with all these holes in the walls where dead bodies are stuffed, with arms sticking out and stuff. It's insanely creepy. There's tons of blood.. and at the end of the room there is a bunch of bodies huddled around a big hole in the ground, it's obvious that the bodies were being tossed down that hole, and guess where you need to go.......
Walken
LOL! That bit made me cry. Yes, SH2 was one of those games where I spend 20% of the time crying, 40% hideing, 10% being paranoid and 30% playing.

Its what made Walken Walken
BurnSide
I would only play it in the pitch black silence of the middle of the night, all lights off.

I don't think i'll ever forget my first SH2 experience.
Feenix Fire
LOL Crap! laugh.gif
I'm REALLY enjoying this game. thumbsup.gif
Walken
Deep under the fear you are, anyway.
BurnSide
Is this your first SH game Feenix?
Feenix Fire
yeah
Walken
You should've tried SH1 first, but since SH2 is pratically Stand alone it doesnt matter too much thumbsup.gif
BurnSide
It's harder these days to play SH1 before SH2. SH1 is a PS1 game, you can't really find it anywhere.

That's why Konami should remake SH1, give it the justice Capcom gave RE1. Could you imagine how horrifiyingly scary SH1 would be with the power of the Gamecube or PS3 etc behind it? Wow.

seeking
ive only played sh2 and sh3, never got a chance to play 1 for the reasons BS stated, i could not find it anywhere, and still to this day have not found it anywhere
Walken
That would be great!

i have SH1. If anyone on here who I can trust is haveing trouble finding it, they can borrow it from me. BUT THEY MUST RETURN IT! ohmy.gif
BurnSide
It's an old game. You can't exactly go out and rent PS1 games anymore, and you'd have a hard time digging it up in a used games bin.
Walken
Seeking, I'd lend it to you. But it would be a wholesome trust which you must not break; the product must be given and returned. blink.gif
BurnSide
Who's to be liable for damages during it's transport from the UK to the US?

What if seeking decides to keep it? Then you'd be screwed. laugh.gif

Oh wait, doesn't matter anyway. American/Canadian PS's cannot play UK/European PS games. They're a different system. UK = PAL, USA = NTSC.
Walken
Ohhhhh....

Hard luck Seeking, you're on your own tongue.gif
BurnSide
Sucked for me when i moved over to Canada from England.

I had tons of PS games. RE 1 and 2, TR 1 and 2, DOOM, Pandemonium, Worms, etc etc etc. All useless once i moved here. I had to rebuy RE1 and 2, didn't bother with the rest.
Walken
Why didn;t you just take over your ps?
