Sockets are different too. An england PS with english power plugs will not fit in a canadian power socket. English plugs are HUGE compared to these tiny things hey have here.
Walken
Oh. That sucks. Did you sell them all?
BurnSide
No. Who would buy a british PS and games in canada? No one would be able to use them.

I did keep the RE games. I like saying i have three copies of RE2 and 4 copies of RE1. grin2.gif
Walken
Well theres always...

eBay!

And maybe someone was moveing to the UK?
BurnSide
*shrugs* I kinda customised my old PS1 anyway... i painted the whole thing gold with gold marker, then cut off the case around the sides. laugh.gif
Walken
...blink.gif

Back on topic shall we....

...blink.gif

In the maria scenerio it took me ages to find the mansion, but then I saw the blood stain and knew I was at the right place original.gif
BurnSide
Not to mention the body in the garden area there.
Walken
Body in the garden area....?

Oh yeah, you mean the inside garden area?
BurnSide
Yeah. I think that was supposed to be the ghost guy.
Sorry it's been ages since i've played that senario and i only did once.
Walken
lol, worry not Burnside, Lord of all that is silent atop a hill.

In SH3 what was that guys name? He had glasses and was very mean.
BurnSide
Vincent. He wasn't mean at all, he was one of the good guys.

Walken
Yeah, but he played some mean tricks. I was really worried when he said that thing which I don't want to spoil for evreyone else, but you know what I mean/
BurnSide
The 'joke'?
Walken

Yes......the JOKE.
BurnSide
I think there's more to that then simply what he says.
Walken
Ohhhhhh...

That would link up with the 'it's in your head' theory. But he did say he was jokeing. But maybe its in his head too blink.gif

Which is why SH2 is my favourite. IN SH3, none of the monsters really had any kind of connection or symbolism to heather, Konami it seems just tried to fill the game with freaky monsters.

Talking about SH again. YAY!!! grin2.gif

Anyways, no connection between SH3's monsters and Heather? As far as I remembered, the dogs were made out of two bodies, and the giant worm in the mall had his head split. Maybe some kind of symbol about Heather's nature??? geek.gif
Walken
That she was a bratty teenager...? blink.gif
jpalz
Nope. Dual nature.... Alessa and Heather being the same person.
Walken
Ah yeah, could be. But thats kind of a long shot as all of the symbolism in SH2 seems to be direct metahpores.

Plus, all the monsters in SH2 had a common trait; SH3 didnt.

You're quite right. The dogs didn't have dual heads, they had split heads, right down the middle. As did the 'Split worm'. Also, the dogs were covered in bloody bleeding bandages, as Alessa was in her 7 year coma where, to quote Lisa, 'they wont stop bleeding'. The split heads do indeed symbolise Heather and Alessa, a split personality.

The closers, however, (the big monsters with huge clubs) are nothing more than regurgiated monsters from SH2. That's right, they are in SH2. Only briefly.
After the hospital, James runs through town fighting off Nurses, and comes to a small corridor with a wire mesh floor. There are creatures hanging underneath the floor, shooting up little spikes when James passes over.
Same creatures.

As for the Slurpers and Pendulums, who knows what they represent. And the insane cancers, well that's just damn obvious.
Walken
They appeard in SH1 too didnt they? Under grateing sometimes.,

The common trait of the monsters in SH2 were that they were all people. They were monsters, true, but still people. That is how james saw his wife, and that is how he interpreted what she'd become.

Just realised that thumbsup.gif
jpalz
Yeah I remember them. The first time I saw the Closers I said something like "What the F---?!". If I'm correct I think they represent the teddy bears Alessa had in her bedroom. If I'm wrong please correct me oh great master Burnsy.
BurnSide
Nicely done.
Wow there's alot of people reading this board. laugh.gif

No, Closers were not in SH1. Different platform and graphics system, for starters.
I don't remember anything hanging under grates in SH1. I remember the sewer monsters, the small bugs, the sewer rat children etc, no under-grates monstes though.

If they did why would they be in SH2? And they have the bodies of nurses with disfigured faces and limbs, don't really look anything like teddy bears.
Walken
Ah, just checked; in SH2 they were called Mandarin. They were found under grates and stuff.
jpalz
No no, I mean, I think I read it in "Lost Memories". U know of any sites where they have a translation of it? Maybe we can finally know why the hell they're there.

Walken
Ah, I know what you mean; Allesa supposedly created the monsters through her imagination.

The faces of the nurses are blotched out because they're not the part James was intrested in. Notice they're all wearing short skirts and low nurse clothes too.

Maybe because Alessa's influence is still strong in SH? hmm.gif
Walken
Alessa's influence never goes away because she never goes away; the town you witness is her town. Example:

In SH1 at the end when you saw a cut scene of some doctors around a bed, one of them doesnt have a face; Why? Because allessa didnt see or didnt care.

In SH1 EVREY person origonally from SH ended up dead.
BurnSide
That's correct Walken.

The Lisa Harry meets in SH died about 7 years before Harry goes to Silent Hill with Cheryl. She was murdered by Kaufmann after stealing the baby Cheryl and abandoning her along the highway.
Alessa remembers Lisa as the nurse who was always kind to her. She recreated Lisa in Silent Hill for Harry to guide him to Dahlia. At the end of the game when Alessa dies and Harry kills Samael, Alessas power dwindles. As such, Lisa becomes just another monster like the rest of the nurses.
Walken
Burnside: When did Laura die? 3 years ago or a week ago? We know the doctor said she had three years to live, but we also know that laura had only just got a letter from her.

I found a good interpretation of that thing I asked about in an FAQ section:

"Q: At Neely's Bar, what does the first graphiti on the wall mean?

A: "There was a HOLE here, but it's gone now." I didn't ask what this
meant. My interpretation is that someone else has noticed the shifting
realities in Silent Hill. For some other guilty traveler in town, the
alternate version of the bar has a pit in the room. So when James comes
back later and the whole town is pitch black, the player has the idea
to return to the bar to see if a hole has appeared. But instead, there
is a new and very threatening graphiti on the other wall. It's a way of
getting the player to search the Bar a second time to see if something
new has appeared. I think it might also refer to the kind of holes that
James encounters later. Each time he jumps into a pit, James is trans-
ported to some other reality or some other location. In this interp, the
graphiti is forshadowing the reality-bending nature of the holes in the
game."

What was the second message?
BurnSide
Huh? You're quite mistaken in that Walken. Laura never died, she's very much alive.

Mary died a week ago, not three years ago as James originally tricked his mind into thinking. We know this because Laura says her birthday was last week, and Mary gave her a birthday card.

That's a good interpretation of the 'Hole'. Pretty much was i was saying, but with more detail.
I can't remember exactly what the other message said, but it mentioned either James or Mary specifically, i can't remember who either.
Walken
Oh, I meant Mary, not Laura, lol.

I found what it said: "If you ReaLly want to sEE Mary, you shOUld just DiE. But You mIght be hEadiNg to A diffErent place than MARY, James" But it says it on the outside nearby so this may not be what that guys talking about.
BurnSide
Ahh, that's the one. I knew it said their names. original.gif
It's inside the bar, on a different wall, i remember that specially. It's not written outside.
Walken
Tisnt it? Ah. Okay.

But I could've sworn it was written on a letter on a doorste[ under a spanner or something.... disgust.gif

So is it true a pit appears in the bar?
Walken
Well guys, I see iMDb have sprouted a silent hill page; now we're just a-waiting for updates.

Silent Hill
BurnSide
It says that the player is drawn to check to see if a pit appears, but none does.
No, it isn't true a pit appears.

That sites been up for awhile.
Walken
Coolies. Wonder if they'll be one for SH3 + 4; not that its that deep, however. Well, compared to Silent Hill anyway.

We'll I'm going to bed. Night night grin2.gif
seeking
hey walken thanks for the offer! and just for the record i would never steal it from you, but thanks! cool.gif
Walken
No problem thumbsup.gif
BurnSide
Been playing through SH2 since last night.
Haven't done much, 15 mins here and there. Just got to the end of the apartment buildings. Man i love this game. The story is so freakin good.
Walken
Uh-huh.

I'm going to start again on SH1, then SH2, and so on. Hopefully I'll actually finish SH4 eventually.
seeking
i think i might just actually go out and rent sh4 this weekend, as long as its there....hey you know how in sh2 and sh3 if you put it on easy or whatever you cant die? is that the same for sh1 and sh4?
Walken
I always play on normal; if you play on easy its just harder the second time around. Play on normal and you learn how to play on normal.
BurnSide
What? If you put it on easy in any of the games you can still die, it just takes more hits, you recieve less damage. What would be the point of playing if you couldn't die? tongue.gif

Just completed the hospital on SH2. 2 hours. This game is still so amazing, even after what, 5 years now.
Walken
Geez, where did the time go? I still remember saveing up, wearing sun glassed and buying it original.gif
Shakezulah
yeah easy isnt even fun in those games. just play on normal or hard. and ive never heard of not being able to die on easy mode in 3 and 4. are you sure abiut that?
Walken
On begginer mode in SH2 there are NO enemeys besides bosses. I mean, seriously? Thats lame. Sure, SH has enougth of a story line and edge to pull it off, but you miss out on so much!
BurnSide
??? That must be a later copy then. I did died, on easy, by a the first spitter on SH2 just to test the theory. There is no beginner.
