No? Then what am I thinking of...?

There was definatley something like that on one of the games.
seeking
oh guys dont get the wrong idea, lol, i guess i should have been more descriptive, ive never played the games on beginer or easy, always normal just to set that straight, i was just curious if this was a feature they carried on or if it was just something they used for the 2nd and 3rd instalments, i was actually going to bring up the point of "is the game really that hard that you have to play it on easy/beginer" thumbsup.gif
Walken
Me too; Like I said, you learn to play on the difficuilty you set. If you played on hard, to you it would be easy.
Shakezulah
did any of the other games besides SH2 come with a puzzle difficulty setting? i cant remember. i think 3 did, but there was like 1 puzzle through the entire game, which pissed me off. i like the puzzle difficulty setting in 2 tho. it was nice. i always put it on the hardest setting so it would take me forever to the puzzles. damn i wish i could play 2 right now, but noooooo! my ps2 is broke and no one knows how to fix it!
BurnSide
Sucker.
SH1's riddles changed with the difficulty, but you couldn't choose difficulty for monsters and puzzles, just both together.
Walken
You could on SH2 and 3.

I'm prettey sure begginer mode was on SH2: Directors cut.
BurnSide
Seems that way.
I read up on it. Indeed it seems that there is no monsters at all, just puzzles and storyline etc. Which is actually kinda cool.

I just finished the SH2 Historical Society/Prison/Labyrinth. Man that's fun, best part in the game easily.
Walken
Uh-huh. What is that thing walking around in the prison? I can clearly hear it say something but can never make out what it is, even with HUGE volume. I've read somewhere that you can shoot it but that doesnt seem likley.

Know what I'm talking about?

Uh-huh; Like I said, SH has the edge to pull it off, but you miss out on so much.
BurnSide
Yeah, everyone has speculated as to what it is, but there really isn't anything there.

There was a site up not to long ago called SH Crack, in which a guy cracked into SH2 and SH3 and was able to change the camera angles and stuff. He discovered there is nothing at all there, it's just a stomping noise and unidentifiable word to try and freak you out. James actually turns his head to look at something too, but it's just made that way to make you think theres something there.

eep! ohmy.gif I know what you're talking about. and I never stay long enough to find out what it is. LOL I am curious though.
BurnSide
^ See my post just before yours. It's nothing. original.gif
Feenix Fire
oh lol. well that kinda sux.
BurnSide
Well i guess we're supposed to use our imagination.

I would hazard a guess to say it's supposed to be Pyramid Head, that's what i've always suspected.
Feenix Fire
I guessed it to be something bigger and uglier. It was still creeptacular! Especially that he looks to the side.
Walken
Pyramid head is very scary. Nemesis was made so that players would experience paranoia, and would always have the tension of his not-being-there on their shoulders. They'd always wait for him to show up.

I think Nemesis was more of a nuisance and didn't really mark that goal.

But Pyramid head did.

It'd be intresting to play truth or dare with silent Hill's designers and creators.
BurnSide
PHead isn't exactly dangerous though. The only times you see him are either movies, or times where you either just have to dodge him a few times, run a different way from where he is, or stand at an opposite side of a large room and fire at him. I don't think i've ever even been hit by PHead.
Yona
Lol, burnside, I can't find the hospitial.... I must really suck at this game.
Walken
Me neither, apart from in cut scenes; But SH used him for the plot and scare-sake, not for his worth as an enemey.

James should've pulled off the pyramid in the end to see what it looked like; they should put that in an outtape.
BurnSide
I'm pretty sure Pyramid Head looks exactly like Valtiel without the hat on.
They wear the same gloves, same boots, even the same gloves.
Walken
Maybe they are the same person.... ohmy.gif

Yona, I'm working on finding a map for you.
BurnSide
The hospital is impossible to miss actually, you can't go anywhere besides into it's doors once you're at the right spot.

You need to go to the Bowling Alley, and then around the back of the Bowling alley, through the door into the Strip Bar, and then run down the street. A cut scene of Laura will show her going into the hospital. if you try to go past it, James says he should go look for Laura and turns around.
Walken

If I'm not mistaken, the red ring is the hospitol. It is definatley near that area anyway, lol.
BurnSide
I find it odd that the Bowling Alley would be marked, but the hospital not, on the map of Silent Hill. blink.gif
Yona
Thanks!!!
Walken
...blink.gif

So it is.

Maybe the creators knew that if they said there was a hospitol they'd give the game away. After SH1 the last thing you wanna see is another hospital.

Yet you're right; the strip club and local inn are also marked on the map. As is a car parkj, apartments building, boat launch and museum.
Yona
Everything but the hospital it seems. wow, I'd hate to be sick in that town!
Well, I'd kindof hate to be in that town.

Btw, burnside, if that town is made of his dreams, how can he die? And are the other people seeing the same thing as you?
BurnSide
But not hospital. laugh.gif

It's marked in SH1. You might be right though, probably why they didn't mark it. Or they forgot.
BurnSide
Yona, the town is not made of his dreams. It's a real place. But certain things, like the monsters, are manifest by his inner dark secrets.
The town is trying to kill him, challenging him, if he gets through the town, he will be redemed. Otherwise, he'll die.

Yona
Ahh, And the people that are there too? Are they manifestations? Or are they real.

And, going through my x-box, I saw a mini level, where you play a girl.
BurnSide
Maria. You've met her.

The people are all real except for one. They're following their own paths, doing their own stories.
You'll find out who isn't real later in the story.
Walken
But it could be marked in SH because they hadn't played and learned the horrors of the hospitals yet.

The town must be screwed if more people were asking directions to the strip club than the hospital.
Yona
Its that little girl, she's fake....little girl surviving all that stuff. she is too small small to survive all those monsters.
Feenix Fire
i think its maria. it has to be more than coincidence that she looks so much like his wife.
Walken
Oh Yona, You are in for some BIG twists. Includeing the twist that is stuck in those that have finished the games minds forever.

Lets just say NOTHING is as it seems when you reach that final cut scene; EVREYTHING is turned AROUND.

I will neither correct or deny your statement.
BurnSide
She has no inner demons. She doesn't see any monsters.
No, she is not fake. To her the town is just a big empty ghost town. She's too young to have done anything bad in her past to have inner demons to be manifested by the town.
Yona
I was thinking, if you managed to see through silent hill's illusion, what would you see? That you have been walking around a hill for a long time, not really going anywhere?
Walken
No, because the town does exsist. The rest is a blur. WAIT AND SEE.

Burnside; I cant wait to see his post after he sees the ending....
BurnSide
The town is there, as i've said plenty of times. There is no illusion, the town actually does exist, as it always has, for about 200 years.

Although on that note, the way James percieves it is how it was when he last came here with Mary, before she got sick, before the town was deserted. The way it actually looks now is different. The hospital, for example, changes halfway through playing. At first it looks like as it did when he was last in Silent Hill, but then it changes to how it actually looks. Abaondoned, run down, ruined.
Yona
if I make it, this game creeps me out. I have the radio turned off, to maximise the feel of the game, and It sucks not knowing where the monsters are.
BurnSide
The ending isn't much of a twist mate. The twist happens just after you get to the hotel, theres some more playing to do after he finds the item in Room 312.
Walken
I don't think the alternite and gross locations are like that simply because they;ve been abandoned.
BurnSide
They are. There is no other world in SH2, there is in SH1 and 3 because of Alessa, but Alessa has nothing to do with SH2, so James' otherworld is the world you see, SH as it was when he came.

It's quite evident in the hotel at the end mate. He says this place hasn't changed at all in years, but once he gets into Room 312 and see the truth for himself he is able to see SH as it is, he sees the hotel as flooded and full of holes and run down, etc.
Walken
True, but don't you think there is a little more to it than that?

We don't know how long SH has been abandoned, but I wouldn't say it was very. Do ye know?
Walken
Burnside, found an EXCELLENT site. Click me!

Yona, don't click; It'll spoil the endings for you.
BurnSide
Yes of course. When Harry arrived.
He brought the second half of Samaels soul to Silent Hill. Instantly the town was wiped clean of it's inhabitants and plunged into Alessas nightmare world.
BurnSide
That IS a good site. Nice.
Walken
Ah, so it was thumbsup.gif

Yeah, but a lot of it is just speculation, not that there ever was much more with SH. For example; "Cheryl (7), remembering who she is, asks her father (32) to return to Silent Hill. While they were planning to go, Lisa Garland (23) kept also a diary and confessed on a videotape. Even though she's dependent on drug, she'll decide to leave Alessa. Kaufmann, fearing a betray, kills her by beating her to death."

Is there any evidence in the game that Kaufmann beat her to death?
Walken
YONA:

Do not click on that link; It'll spoil the ending for you.
BurnSide
No of course not. Most of that information is indeed speculation. We know Kaufmann killed her, we do not know how.

Some of the information is quite silly. Cheryl did not remember who she was and that's not why they went to SIlent Hill. Harry and cheryl were going, as it says in the instruction booklet, because that's their vacation spot, has been every year since Harrys wife died.

So you have to takethe info given with a grain of salt.

Ah Silent Hill what can I say, greatest series of games I've ever played apart from perhaps the Final Fantasy series. My g/f doesn't believe she can be frightened by any video game so I'm in the process of aquiring SH3 and will subject her to the horrors wink2.gif I'll make sure she plays it in the dead of night to achieve maxmim exposure. Hehe I can't wait..I'll update you guys to her expierience, should be in a few days. original.gif
