Okay guys, I watched it.
It's safe to say that it's nothing to do with the actual movie. It's just a trailer some guys made for if they were gonna do the movie.
The actings sucky (with the exception of one guy smokeing a ciggerette) and the closest thing we see to a monster of any kind of special effects is a green glow stick being thrown down a manhole. Theres no fog, no darkness; nothing.
Prettey cool though,

haha fair enough.
Got all excited for nothing. I thought it may have been like the first RE trailer, which had nothing to do with the actual movie.

that was funny! yes the acting was terrible! lol
so their making a Silent Hill movie?
Walken
Apr 13 2005, 10:18 PM
i imagine the trailer to be like the music video opening of SH2. I also imagine it to be just a black screen and noises, talking, then some images flashing, then the words Silent Hill.
Or a moment with lots of tension acompanied by the words 'Silent Hill'

Yeah, just started pre-production.
Based on the first game, with a woman protagonist instead of Harry.

I actually think a storyline like SH2's would be much better for the movie. But then they'd have a hard time working in the cult.... :/
BurnSide
Apr 13 2005, 11:09 PM
SH2 doesn't entirely work by itself. You need at least some back knowledge of SH, given in SH1, to really get whats going on.
We're introduced to the town in SH1, in SH2 we're just thrown into it.
I think it's best that they're doing a SH1-based movie.
Although it'll probably be as close as Apocalypse was to RE3.

i hope they do a good job on the movie, i really disliked the resident evil movies...but i guess you have to take them for what they are
Walken
Apr 13 2005, 11:25 PM
Agreed, but I'm 85% sure they'll screw it up.
I think we can all agree; Video games turned into movies arent usually very good; based on experience, of course.
They'll sustitute depth and plot for action and explosions.
And don't be surprised if they throw in some short skirts too.
BurnSide
Apr 13 2005, 11:36 PM
I don't think they'll screw up at all.
Mainly because the Konami Silent Hill Team is working directly with the producer and director. The team is creating the monsters, the story, the costumes, locations, music.. the only thing the rest of them are doing is the acting and whatnot.
For that purpose alone, in think this will be excellent.
Walken
Apr 13 2005, 11:44 PM
I still think it'll be hollywood-ized.
On a side note, I've just been looking at Roger Avrays web journal. He mentions the script from time to time but it's still intresting.

hey i was reading the past posts between you (walken) and burnside, and thought well what if the reason anglea sees james as her father at some points is because she is seeing the sexual intentions of james, and that the reason she sees fire is because she was the one responsible for burning the place down (that is a long one because im not to familiar with what actually burned down and if it says who actually did it) just throwing that out there for you guys to explain to me, one last thing ive always thought the leave ending was the correct ending as well....but i stumbled upon a website just a few mins ago www.silenthillheaven.com and read a thread about the rebirth ending being the actual ending and it made sense, it also brought up the topic i brought up about mary attending the brookhaven hospitol, it has some good points i thought, you guys might want to check it out if you have not known about this site allready

We are certain that she didn;t burn it down. We're not really sure what did, but it was most likley a horrific accident. We know she didn't burn it down because she has only just returned to Silent Hill, haveing run away as a child.

Silent Hill heavan is a great site

I think the rebirth ending or the inwater ending are the most likley to be true, but we can never know for sure.
Perhaps Mary attended Brookhaven hospital breifly after she fell ill but it was not where she spent the long duration of her illness.

Definatley SH1. SH4 is flupey. I couldn't even be bothered to finish it. It's boreing. It's nothing like Silent Hill should be. It's not scary and too obsessed with action.

if you are gonna buy SH4, then at least wait until you can find it very cheap. otherwise, dont buy it and just rent it. buy 1. its an excellent game, despite the outdated graphics, which i think adds to the creepy atmosphere.

No, i don't own 4, but i own the rest.
Here it's gotten down to 30 bucks new, i'm guessing thats about 20 bucks american, and that's still to much for me to pay for it, it's just not worth that. The other day i was buying a game and it came to a tossup of SH4 30$, Windwaker 30$, or Outbreak 30$. I got Windwaker. When SH4 drops to 25 canadian, then i'll get it.

My main beefs with SH4.
Controls: Ugh.
Weapons: Stupid. I hate melee fighting. WHy the hell did they have to take away my guns. And the two pistols you do get, crap.
Inventory: I HATE that you can only carry a very limited number of, say, bullents and health drinks etc.
Repitition: You play half the game, then you have to play the exact same thing over again, only slightly harder.
Enemies: Stupid as hell.
Walken
Apr 14 2005, 02:15 PM
I think Silent Hill has always had kind of creeky controls.
YEah, that inventory thing was stupid. And giveing that guy choclate milk was the most re-dick-you-less thing I ever saw.

about the playing it over again only harder...is it exactly the same thing again (same items) or is it the same areas with just harder enemies and different items?
BurnSide

It's the exact same enemies, just running through them fighting slightly more enemies, with the very rare extra puzzle thrown in.

Apr 14 2005, 03:53 PM
Well, the first time through, someone dies on each area. Then, you have to go through tjem again looking for a way to save this chick and kill this dude, and all the other people that died in the levels come back as ghosties.

Oh, SH3 was actually my favorite out of the series. My girlfriend is under the notion that theres no such thing as a scary video game. (Shes never really played a game before) So I have this nice suprise for her, and these type of things scare her. Hhehe I can't wait!!! I'll have her play it in the dead of night tonight with the lights off, and make her sleep by herself!

Apr 14 2005, 05:55 PM
i dont know what you find scary about the game. its not that scary. there were maybe 2 parts in the entire game that scared me.

Apr 14 2005, 05:55 PM
I found it did use darkness very well in the tight locations, i still get the odd jump when a slurper or something gets me in a dark hallway and it didn't even see it.

I don't like the radio though, it's competely useless since music plays when enemies are around anyway.

It was the little things in SH3 that really made the game enjoyable to me. Or maybe I was just playing it under better "game" conditions then when playing SH1 or 2. A couple of great game moments come to mind. Entering a room to find only a wall sized mirror and a sink, nothing to be found. Turn around the doors locked. Look back and in the reflection of yourself these weird black tentacle veins begin to consume your image and start to come through the sink! Wow I was freaking out. Also near the beginning. Entering the washroom..knock on one of the stalls, theres a knock back, strange. Leave the room and you hear the door creaking open..invesitagate only to find a bloody carnaged stall..:S
BurnSide
Apr 14 2005, 06:14 PM
Yeah, i always loved the little things like the stall in SH3.
As well as the headless mannequins in the office building. One lone one still has a head. You turn the corner, hear a scream. Go back, theres tons of blood and the mannequins heads been lopped off.

SH2 is my fav, but i also really enjoyed SH3. It was fun, and the story was excellent the first time around. The first time Vincent said that Heathers fathers name was Harry, i was like 'NO WAY!!'.
