haha, if that pic scares you you're in for a rough ride Boff.
Boff
Oh...I know...god I know. I still remember trying to get through SH2..
seeking
sh2 was my fav

i loved that game, i hated the having to run for what seemed like days just to get from place to place though
Walken
You've got to admit though - It did wonders for the atmosphere.
seeking
yes it definetly did, made you scared to get from place to place...whats gonna crawl out from under that car up ahead, or whats going to swoop down on me around that corner...
Carla
I love silent hill games I got the room and omg its disturbing but amazing. I’m in the jail at the moment and omg some of them monsters are so disturbing lol try playing it in the dark on your own grin2.gif
BurnSide
That's the beauty of SH. original.gif
Although SH4 was a far cry from how frightening the previous games were. disgust.gif
Boff
Well, we manged to get to the "The Store Complex Revisited". I must say though I was very dissapointed when I first found out I was doing ALL the levels..again. *sigh*. When that part happened it was real downer for me.

While I think I have a grasp on the story, I dont think Im gunna end up beating it. Since my friend rented it I let him take it home, and hes to scared to play it. hehe.

From what I played though, I loved it. Freaky, awsome, and very SH. Though it did get kinda anoying travelling back to the apartment so often. Though it was fun to check your peephole to see whats going on.

So Mr. Burnside, could you explain to me the story of the game? I wanna know how close I was to what was going on, and who better to explain it?

Cant wait for the movie original.gif.
BurnSide
I most certainly can, although i am terribly busy at work right now, so once i get off in about 5 hours, i'll post it and you can read through. It's an excellent story, much better than SH3's anyway.

Everyone was dissapointed that you have to go through twice, believe me i was. But after awhile, i kinda started to like the idea, it makes sense in terms of the story, and the areas are changed enough to at least be something new.
Boff
I will look forward to it! And I was sort of getting into it again, but it still just felt to..repititive. I didnt have the real driving force to play it, since I knew what the next level was. Though I am happy they werent as long as they were the first time, now THAT would have been anoying. tongue.gif.
BurnSide
Trust me, there are still some very distrubing suprises in store. Replaying the apartment is completely chanegd to the point it's entirely new, and oh man, now THAT is good, freaky stuff.
jpalz
As someone who completed the game I can confirm what my bud is saying thumbsup.gif
Boff
Well after reading through my own adventure while playing silent hill 2 (way back in this thread..around page..6 or something) I had to run to my friends and get the game back. I had to beat it, and beat it I did. I'll admit I had to use a walkthrough to finish because I dont have a ton of time. Im heading out to Calgary tomorrow, and gotta be up at 5...*sigh*, still gotta pack to! But I've beat it, and im happy. Even though I got the bad bad ending! hehe. I was just to freaked out to try and do alot of the things. But I had to see how the story unravalled. I must say im very satasifed.

Funny how last time I was playing a SH game I had to leave for another city as well.. hope im not making some sort of crazy boff style silent hill of my own.

Cant wait for your write up burnsy, hopefully you can do it tonight so I can read it before I leave, either that or its waiting till sunday till I get back for me.

I also should say im entering my "everything is creeping me out" phase after playing a SH game. Like I had a bag hanging off my door handle and forgot about it, came into my room and it swung out in front of me. I swear I must have jumped 20feet. Oh sleep shall be fun tonight original.gif.
BurnSide
Give me 1 hour and 30 mins, and i'll have your write up. thumbsup.gif
BurnSide
Alright Boff, here it is. In basic form, the whole thing will take me all night to write.

At South Ashfield Heights, Room 205, a woman in her mid 20's is in labour, giving birth.
She is, along with her husband, in a financially difficult place. No money, rent is due, there is no way they could keep this baby.

After the baby is born, the mother and father decide to simply flee the room, leaving the baby exactly the way it came out of her, Umbilical cord and everything.
This is Walter Sulivan.

The superintendant of South Ashfield Heights, Mr Sunderland, discovered the abandoned baby in room 205 shortly after and cleaned it up, and took it to Ashfield hospital. For reasons unknown even to him, he decided to keep the Umbilical cord, keeping it in a box in his room.

Baby Sulivan is kept at the hospital for several months and eventually transfered, while still a baby, to an Orthanage on the outskirts of a town called Silent Hill. Wish (Hope) House, a completely enclosed community devoted to raising orthans and teaching them religion, schooling them, etc. At least, on the outside..
On the inside, Wish House is a second of an infamous Silent Hill cult called 'The Order'. They raise children with their own demonic religious beliefs, torturing the children if they even misread words in paragraphs of their holy book. AT the top of this section of The Order is a woman named Dahlia Gilespie, who is also raising a child there called Alessa.
Unknown to the public, The Order also has a secret tower set far out in the middle of the always-foggy Toluca Lake, where misbehaving children are sent to be starved and their bodies disposed off.

Walter Sulivan grew up here at Wish House, learning the ways of the Order. Dahlia told him when he was still very young that his mother had abandoned him in room 205, and Walter would start to have fantasies of visiting Ashfield and visiting his mother at room 205.
He had a father figure at Wish House, a man who was nicknamed 'The red Devil' due to his large red pointed hood he always wore. This man, i forget his name, was a Priest in the highest order of Valtiel, and taught Walter the Decent of the Holy Mother, and the 21 Sacraments. Walters interest in these scriptures grew.

There was one other man in his life at Wish House, i also forget his name. He is the man who runs the Water Prison, starving the children, watching them, and torturing them, and disposing of the bodies. Walter learned to fear this man very much, he was fat and evil.

Eventually as the months past, Walter would start sneaking out of Wish House. Each time he would go further, until one time he even got on a subway straight to Ashfield, and got off South Ashfield, just outside South Ashfield Heights. One time he met a friend, a little girl called Cynthia, but she was very mean to him.

Young Walter, still only 6 or 7, got even braver with each trip and started sneaking into the apartments. He was seen sometimes by the superintendant, who was very kind to him, and by a very mean man called Braintree, who always chased Walter out of the apartments.
Walter started visiting the door of room 205. He became obsessed with his mother, thinking at first she was trapped in the room, and then starting to believe the room was his mother altogether. A symboinic relationship grew between young Walter and room 205, who he thought of as his mother.

On one of his trips, Walter met a young girl called Eileen, who was very kind to him. She gave him a teddy bear.

At Wish House, Walter grew steadily into a young man. He continued to study the Decent of the Holy Mother, and the 21 Sacraments. In using these scriptures, Walter learned that he could see his mother again and make him talk to her, make him love her. The Red Devil continued to fuel Walters desire to use the 21 Sacraments, pushing Walter, torturing Walter if he did not study the Sacraments. Walter became deeply fixated, possesed even, with the idea of completing the sacraments, and being again with his mother.

There was a man living in room 205 now though. Josepth Scribbler. Walter saw him as an invasion on the relationship between him and his mother.

That's all for now. I'll write more shortly. This is taking much longer than i expected. I always go into details. laugh.gif

Anyone, questions, comments, or error fixes?
BurnSide
You know what, on second thought, just read this. Trust me, it'll probably be shorter than my Plot Analysis, and more indepth and accurate too. thumbsup.gif Enjoy.

I will of course continue if you request it so, but i think this would be better.

I love it so far! Thanks Burnsy! Things are now starting to make a bit more sense original.gif.

*edit* Thanks for the link! I'll get to reading now original.gif
jpalz
Uuuuuh, Burns, the link isn't working. That's because Gamefaqs says "you can't post directly to the FAQS". Twats angry.gif
BurnSide
wtf. Never had a problem before. Why wouldn't they allow direct linking to a file?? It's free for godsake. Bah, fine.

Go to here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/919554.html and click on the first 'Plot Analysis' link.
Carla
Well i think its really freaky actually i think silent hill 4 is more scary than forbidden siren .
Walken
I think Silent Hill 4 is lameo braino in terms of scariness. It's really more of an action game and does not live up to the standards set by Silent Hill 1 and 2. Even 3, which was horrendous as a game, but still worthy (even if it was not worthy to stand aloneside SH 2)
Carla
I think silent hill 2 was the best but yeh honestly it freaks me out
Tangerine Sheri
I liked Silent hill 3 and loved Silent Hill 4 the 1st half only I was so disappointed by the second half I took the Game Back, I don't know what went wrong. Anyone else feel thtaa way I thought the creepiest part was that Hospital that had all the rooms and you had to line up the floors that was eerie, In three the part that changed into blood was pretty good too, These are definitly scary games. I didn't play 1 or 2
BurnSide
1 and 2 are MILES better than 3 and 4. Alot scarier.
Tangerine Sheri
I'll have to check them out they both are good some are saying 2 is better????

Do you know anything about another Silent Hill 5 I thought I heard something about it being made .Maybe not. In 3 I thought it was too dark the graphics not that great, I only know playstation did you play on that system? I'm sorry if my questions are dumb I've never met an adult who liked Silent Hill or RE even my kids won't play these games (if you are a kid I apologize.
BurnSide
laugh.gif I'm not a kid. original.gif
I have them all on Playstation too. Yes i would say that SH2 is better, the best actually. Mostly for the storyline, it's incredibly done. I haven't seen anything like it since.

Silent Hill 5 has been confirmed, for a next-gen system, most likely PS3. No information has been given about it though.
Tangerine Sheri
Did you ever play Dino Crisis or Fear Effect I know this is Silent hill but those were good games the graphics not so good but the stories were great and they were fun? I'll check out silent hill 2 and let yu know what I think. I'm not a kid either I hope I didn't offend you.
A friend Sheri
BurnSide
You didn't offend me in the least. original.gif

Neo2005
I got Silent Hill 1 for my emualtor on a rom today.
It works out really good.
I'm surprised with how contained and sound the stroy is.
Takes you very deep.

Good stuff.
BurnSide
Sherri, Dino Crisis 3 came out a couple years ago on PS2. thumbsup.gif

Neo, so it works well on the emulator eh. What PS emulator do you use? 've been looking for a decent one.
Neo2005

Dino Crisis 3 came out for the Xbox as far as I know. And yeah, Dino Crisis 2 is AWESOME!! grin2.gif

Ah Sherri, I played Fear Effect 2. I liked it very much, once I got used to the controls. tongue.gif
3 never came out so that's why you've never been able to pick it up. What a shame sad.gif But that's not the worst part of it: the bad news is that Uwe Boll wants to make a Fear Effect movie angry.gif
BurnSide
Yeah it's on Xbox too.
jpalz
As far as I knew, it only came out on Xbox.
Correct me if I'm wrong original.gif
BurnSide
I wasn't aware. I don't have info on if it is or not, so if you say it is, i'll take your word for it. thumbsup.gif Thanks.

Wonder why that is?
Shakezulah
Yes, Dino Crisis 3 only came out on Xbox. Which sucks. Cuz i never got to play it. Then again, i never play my copy of 2 either. The only time i played it was when i...uh..."bought"...it.
jpalz
Yup, just looked in Gamespot. Only came out on the Xbox. Why? Beats me sad.gif, even more than how in hell movie producers give Uwe Boll money to make make movies tongue.gif
Smeagol1
I love that game. yes.gif
BurnSide
I hear that jpalz.
Obviously game development companies have really stupid people making financial decisions for them.

Yes thats right you had to get used to the contols,Did you play one too???
BurnSide
I do swear that it came out. Xbox only though apparently.
Don't worry, all reviews say it was terrible. It was set in the distant future and all the dinosaurs were half-mech and it was on a giant spaceship that kept changing shape, or something. hmm.gif

Now THAT is an unexplained-mystery don't you think?
BurnSide
No. It's just stupidity.
Nordic_Dragon
this is totally off-topic but i just have to say...my bro and i just finished Silent Hill 4...

sad.gif no.gif dontgetit.gif angry.gif huh.gif

...i dont think i got scared once.

its really sad, i kept waiting for a really scary DARK place...but there was none sad.gif all the freakin lights beautifully lighting up every corner of the screen...

hardly any sound effects or scary music...
stupid monkeys...
just plain annoying slugs things...
lack of the rusted blood effect...

very sad.

disappointing sad.gif and i hate to say that because i LOVE silent hill no.gif
BurnSide
Yes Nordic i'm afraid everyone agrees that SH4 lacked horribly on the scare factor. They put too much work into the story of this one, and they figured that the story itself would be enough to give you that awful unsettling feeling, but alas it was not.

Of course, there was none of that 'rusted blood' effect because this game had nothing to do with Alessa, so her world was not a part of the game at all. It was Walters world we traveled through in this game, and Walter's subconcious wasn't half a scary as Alessa's.
