I suppose you're right

Really, is it? I could have sworn it was Room of Angel that was playing. I haven't played it for so long...

The one where Cynthia dies? That goes 'Here's a Lullaby to Close your eyes, it was always you that i despised' yada yada?
The music for the movie, in my opinion, will be perfect. Don't worry about it.

That's the one. And I'm pretty certain that, that one was 'Room of Angels'. Maybe I'm wrong

I stand that it was "Fortunate Sleep". Room of Angel sounds when you find Eileen almost dead in her apartment and thanking the kid. It also appears in the trailer that shows up if you don't press any buttons in the main menu.

Sorry dude, i'm pretty sure it is Room of Angel. I found several sites of SH4 lyrics and they all have that song called Room of Angel.

Dude, those are the lyrics of Room of Angel!
Now, maybe Room of Angel appeared in the American version of The Room at the moment you specify, I dunno, but in the version I played (the Japanese version) the song that plays when you find Cynthia dying is called "Fortunate Sleep", and Room of Angel plays when you finish the apartment world for the first time.
EDIT: The bottom line is, yeah, Room of Angel exists and it appears in the game, just not the moment T-Nemesis is pointing out. Now: I'll give ya the link to both songs and you guys compare:

I see. In that case, this is simple missunderstanding than anyone actually being wrong.
In NA release, this song plays during the trailer, as you said, and also when Cynthia dies.
Fortunate Sleep plays when Eileen is on the floor in her own bloody gore.
So evidently we have been talking about the same song all along, it's been simply switched in both versions.

Pyramid Head getting jiggy with the mannequins? That would be quite freaky to watch on the big screen

Oct 7 2005, 12:05 AM
Uh...that was disturbing enough to watch it in the game. I don't know if I want to see that again if it's in somewhere besides SH2. Not that I WANT to see that, it's just weird and gross, yet kinda cool just for the reasons given.
BurnSide
Oct 7 2005, 02:33 AM
Agreed, completely.
I don't think they'll include that though. It represented James' sexual desire. If the creators of the movie understand the games properly enough to make a movie based on them, they should know that nothing happens just to creep out the player and therefore should be careful what scenes they recreate.
Raptor
Oct 7 2005, 06:47 AM
Apparently PH wasn't doing what we thought he was to those mannequins, well atleast on SHfan sites they say so. I don't how how he couldn't have been doing it?
BurnSide
Oct 7 2005, 01:15 PM
He was raping them. And then killing them.
It's an exaggerated representation of James liking Mary only when she is pretty and he can be satisfied by her, and once she turned ugly and could do nothing for him, he killed her.
PH = James.
I didn't realise this at first, it was Walken that brought me to my senses.
Raptor
Oct 7 2005, 02:39 PM
Im aware of that, but many people over at
SHH and
SHF seem to think that it's not true, and that he was simply killing them. I'm not sure why, I'll look into it. Same goes for the giant head of Eileen in the SH4 Hospital.
BurnSide
Oct 7 2005, 02:41 PM
SH4 is different. SH4 DID have things in it just for creep-out factor. One of the many liabilities in the game which made it worse than the others.
I think you don't need much than very basic understanding of the story in SH2 to see that PH wasn't just wondering around killing other monsters for the heck of it. That's just plain stupid.
And THAT, is why i don't frequent SH or RE forums.

Also, I have spread the word of the Silent Hill movie through out my school. I've shown all my friends the 'teaser' trailer and they all think Pyramid Head is badass.

Is there anyway to download them as a batch? It'll take a long time to download them all individually.
EDIT: Started downloading them, I'm not sure if my Hard drive has enough space to hold them all.

I just got through watching the Making of Silent Hill 3 video I posted. It's pretty neat, I can't help but notice Douglas seemed to be quite under developed, maybe I just interpreted it wrongly or they portrayed is badly, but he didn't seem to have much of a basis at all. Oh well, 'tis all good.
BurnSide
Jan 20 2006, 12:27 AM
Have you played SH3?
Raptor
Jan 20 2006, 12:33 AM
I've played it a fair deal, but I don't own it, so I've never played it from the beggining to the end.
How did you know?
BurnSide
Jan 20 2006, 12:47 AM
Well you seem to not know how the character of Douglas is developed in the game.
You're quite right though, to be honest. He's a decent character, but his role in the game is somewhat useless for the most part. I'm really not even sure what the point of him is in a story analysis. He doesn't react to situations the way a normal person would, he's slow and dull etc. Not a very well developed character at all.
Raptor
Jan 20 2006, 12:53 AM
I see what you mean, but in the 'Making of...' video when they run through the characters, they give quite a fairly elaborate insight in to each character, but for Douglas, what they say is just completely trivial, they say 'He is losing his hair; he tries to hide his baldness'. Like I said, maybe I interpreted it wrongly, maybe they're trying to suggest that the baldness represents a weakness, which he is trying to hide.
BurnSide
Jan 20 2006, 01:04 AM
Nope, he's just a useless one-sided character that doesn't fit into the story at all.

ok i just purchased silent hill 4 on the cheap and have just watched a guy on fire carving numbers into his chest, anyway i've heard that different things in the apartment change during the game, are there any i should look out for at this stage?
BurnSide
Jan 20 2006, 04:59 PM
You'll know when it happens, it's always extremely obvious. You'll hear things BANG or splash etc while you're walking around the apartment.
Things to watch for the first half of the game are the bathtub, dryer, peephole in door and peephole in wall, and ceiling fan. Not to mention of course the street outside.
In the second half of the game, once the ceiling fan has fallen, well, they're impossible to miss. Check the wall above the bed, the closet in the bedroom, the wall above the desk in the bedroom, the wall above the trunk, the wall above the peephole, the couches and chairs, the door peephole, the shoes, the fridge, the taps, outside the windows, the TV, the radio, etc etc.

I've just been busy. But I'm back now. Not uber back, but back none-the-less.
I was wondering what you guys thought about Silent Hill 3 and 4 in terms of story fodder?
I for one think SH1 + 2 are guarranted Story certifiable. Silent Hill 4 is reliable in terms of the back story and mythology it covers. Silent Hill 3, however, I have never felt to be too reliable. There is far to many contradictions and plot holes when compared to SH1, forcing me to make a dis-is-eon of the two.
Needless to say, SH wins.
BurnSide
Jan 20 2006, 05:52 PM
SH3, in my eyes, has never been more than a sort of epilogue file to SH1. Just tying up what happens to Harry and the baby and the order and all that stuff. The story is practically non-existant really, i mean, think about it.
Heather falls asleep in diner. She has dream of Silent Hill.
Heather decides to go home.
While going home strange things happen to her that she doesn't react too.
She keeps going home.
She gets home. Daddy is dead.
She vows revenge on Daddys killer.
She goes to Silent Hill and chases down killer.
Killer dies, Heather destroys evil.
The end.
Obviously it's alot deeper than that, what with the god reborn inside her and how she is the Mother of God and the Daughter of God, as creepy as that is, but in the end, bah.
Silent Hill 4 bothered me greatly for the first, i dunno, 3 or 4 playthroughs.
Then i got it, and it completely changed my opinion of the game. I love the story of SH4, although it's so loosely tied into SH that it almost feels that if it was named something else you wouldn't get the connections.
The game itself is lacking alot, but the story is really great. Nothing on SH1 or SH2, but i like it all the same.
