Has anyone done any serious research into this phenomena or is it just though of as a weird sleep phenomena? Is it possible it's all in our minds or is there something else causeing this? I'm getting bored of the non-physical body explanation as I know of no evidence supporting this and I would like to explore other possibilities. Is there a way of knowing whever or not it's an hallucination? I know of a few investigations into OBEs and sleep paralysis but never what I consider to be the most interesting experience that links them both together. This seems to have been completely avoided. Why?

Please explain what you're talking about. I've never heard of sleep vibrations.

It is basically feeling or hearing vibrations as you sleep. This usually happens in sleep paralysis and is common to experience just before separating during an OBE. This can even be used as a sign to leave your body.
The vibrations can vary form very weak vibrations to very strong and slightly painful vibrations. I once had them going through the centre of my torso and was slightly painful. The sounds are common with the feeling which is a loud buzz and I don't think I've ever had the feeling without the buzz. You can even control the location and intensity of them. Once I even saw sparks fly out of my temples while experiencing this.
I read on one reki site that after some special exercise these vibrations came to them while they were awake, so maybe there should be another name for them.

Interesting stuff.
Lemme do some goggle research on this..

I get those "sleep vibrations"....but not when i'm asleep,it's right before i go to sleep and it's been happening since last fall......sometimes they're very strong and powerful, other times just light.....but i don't understand what it's supposed to be other than just strange vibrating.

OMG it happens to me during Sleep Paralysis. It's a really loud buzz accompained by this thick vibration feeling in my neck and ear and I feel like I'm falling. I usually compress my inner ear to compensate for the horrible sensation. Also, I feel like I'm spinning. OMG, this is so scary. sad.gif I don't enjoy getting it, but I've been having that since I was like 2 or 3.

I didn't get them this morning, but last SP, I got it real bad...and I saw light lights...like electricity...it's something hard to explain...different colors and I hear voices and stuff inside my head...also scary images...so I just close my eyes and let go...then...usually...I can build a dream (anything I want) and it's all peaceful because I can control myself in it and I wake up fine. If I fight it, it's worse.

I've never experienced SP (not to my knowledge, anyway), but I have had these vibrations before. They come in the form of buzzing more than actual vibrations. I get a lot of loud buzzing/ringing in my hears that can become quite painful at any point in the day. When I get them while trying to fall asleep, I constantly feel off balance, like the slightest movement will send me crashing to the floor. It's very strange. . . .

Its just your bodies preparing for the split. The noises you hear and faces or images you might see, are just your imagination, so you have nothing to fear from them..
You can learn more by reading on the astral travelling / out of body topic. There are a lot of good websites on the net.

Hey Moe

You are not alone in the weirdness. I have something similar happen to me occasionally. It feels like my room becomes really big and the door is really far away and everything becomes muffled and buzzy and I am really small.

I had something similar to that after acupuncture. It felt like everything I heard was vibrating directly in my brain.
Maybe I should of put this on the skeptic board. I think I might get more replies there. Is there a possibility that it's the nerves? I read something about nerve vibrations on a site I went to but no information on it.

Wow, I used to get that when I was 6...terrifying experience...I tried to walk to the door and couldn't...it looked like really far away, and I felt the room was spinning... was the weirdest thing. Now I only get SP but back then, I got so many weird things. sad.gif

Today my yoga teacher told me that after his yoga session he get the vibration for about 3-4 hours with a warm feeling. He didn't say much about it other than it's caused by energy. After when I questioned him about it he said you just have to be aware to it. This is what I thought but why does it hpen during SP? Is some neurochemical released that increases awareness which caueses to hear and maybe even see what's going on around us and even feel the vibrations that are constantly happening in our bodies.

I don't know everything thing there is to know about OBE, but I have had them very actively for the past 20 years. Every time I have ever felt severe vibrations there was another entity/spirit near me. I would become paralized and unable to leave my body and fly out the closest window like I normaly do. I have come to the conclusion that these vibrations are caused by the interference of two energies; mine and the other entity. Normally I would not feel any vibrations at all. I feel this is a disruption of some sort. That is why we feel it, and it seems to be painful. The law of nature is that if anything feels uncomfortable or painful, then something is wrong.

Sleep vibrations are often the beginning of an out of body experience (OBE). I've been having OBE's for 25 years and they started with a feeling of vibration throughout the body along with a loud buzzing in my head. It's almost a feeling like being electrocuted. Anyway, if you don't fight the feeling and don't be afraid, (nothing bad can happen to you) you will probably eventually have an OBE. A great website to go to is outofbody.co.uk/index.htm. There are a lot of websites on the subject with some great chat rooms. Good luck!

This is very interesting to me, Chris.

When I was younger, I used to be woken up from a deep sleep, feeling as if my bed were being lifted off the ground, and dropped back down, rather quickly, I hate to use this anology but, almost like in "The Exorcist".

I would just pass it off as bad dreams. But it happened alot. I never even consitered it could be a form of SP. Thanks for the post. thumbsup.gif
