The new news system is coming on nicely, after needing to be redesigned following the collapse of the system that required the old phpBB forum to work. News stories will now be submitted manually under the News-Bot account to the appropriate news forum. The main page news will link to that post, providing a link to post a comment, and also a link to E-Mail the URL of the story to someone else.
At the moment the news forums are organised into 7 sub forums, one for each major branch of the unexplained. You can view this layout by visiting the "News, Discoveries and Findings" board which contains those sub forums.
Having 7 sub forums is fine, but it does make it more difficult to check up on updated topics because everything is down a level - you need to enter the main news board before you can even view the titles of the other ones. On the old forum, there were three news forums, one for the unexplained, one for bizarre news, and one for space-tech. This allowed a clearer view of updated threads, but lacks the categorised thread indexing of the previous option. Thirdly, there is the option to combine absolutely all the news posts together in a single main news forum, which would make it easy to look through, but would be even less organised still.
I'm not quite sure which of those three options to go for at this stage, so I thought I'd start this poll to see what everyone else thinks.
Which of those three options do you think you'd prefer ?
All comments, queries and suggestions are more than welcome.
