OOBE
I know it may seem cheesy that my nickname is OOBE but it's been my nick since my day 1 in the Internet (nineties). Anyway, I just found out last week that this "weird thing" that has happened to me for about 20 years is something common in other people and not something I thought I was was the only one with it. I heard it on the Elliot In The Morning Show in DC 101...I felt so relieved to know that more people had it and that it was fairly common. Took me so long to find out. I suffer from it about every week, and I get 5-7 episodes one behind the other...I manage to wake up from one but eventually it gets me. I try to fight it but it makes it worse. Just this morning, I managed to make a humming sound to wake me out of it and it worked but it took very long... Anyway, here's the address to the topic I opened in a car enthusiast forum that I'm a member of. There's some profanity there...just so you know!

Well, I look forward to meet great people here and learn more about this SP thing. I've read a lot about it this morning and I was amazed at how my experiences compare to the ones written. If SP had a 1-10 scale of strength, I can honestly say I'm in 8. w00t.gif

Welcome to the forum! Nice to have you on! tongue.gif

pssst...(watch out for that, Moe, guy, he's about a half a bubble off plum, if you get my drift. Last word was, he was in Germany, infiltrating a vampire cult, and doing side business in the woods with a samurai sword.)

Anywho, welcome! grin2.gif

Hey I've had this before maybe like 6 times a year or so. I read somewhere that people haved linked this to being abducted by aliens. Is it like your awake but you can't move and you keep telling yourself to get up or I'll be tring to say something and the words won't come out like "help". But also I've seen like little people, one time they were hiding around the bedroom door, peeking at me. I don't know why this happens but I will look into sleep paraylisis. Thanks for sharing and welcome I'm new also<<Beware it becomes addicting lol

Thanks guys. Hey, I didn't get that about the dragon. dontgetit.gif

Yeah, I've read about people associating it with being abducted by aliens...like Sleep Paralysis or Alien Abduction alien.gif . I don't find the relation in there, but whatever. Now, I've seen myself laying on the bed and it was the most freaky thing ever...it only happened once. Since I read something about the SP being related to OOBE, I'll try to do what some people do: instead of trying to fight off the paralysis, they use the ocassion to "spin off" or "roll off" they're bodies and float around. I don't understand how that's done...I'm just a normal human being who just found out a week ago what he was suffering from, hehe. When I get it, I get freaked out and can't accept that defeat...I try to fight it but I read that it's even worse to fight it. When I don't fight it, I can actually build a dream and control it...but while that's happening...the experience is horrifying because I'm hearing thunders, wind and seeing this flashes and lighs accompained by a thick electric feeling in my neck...I usually block off the "sound" by compressing my inner ear wacko.gif . Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome and I'll be following you guys around in the forum. thumbsup.gif

Who's Angelfish? Is this dragon just an abstract thing from you guys? Sorry for my naiveness, but you guys are probably weirder than I am and I don't fit in yet, hehe.

Sounds like classical sleep paralysis or oobe.
sp is more common than most realize.

Haha thanks...I'll take care of the little thing. grin2.gif

Well last night I didn't sleep until 6 am...24 hours awake...I finally let go and when I woke up at 3 in the afternoon, I had SP. I've never had it two days in a row...but it happened...I guess because I was all day reading this website. I was having another weird, but realistically detailled dream like the one before. When I woke up, I didn't even open my eyes because I knew I had the SP...tried to move but couldn't..and this was some mild one thank God. So I relaxed and about 10-15 seconds later, I tried to move and it woke me up. So from now on, I'll just chill and not try to move. original.gif

You might perchance want to see a doctor. Sleep disorders are not uncommon and many are completely treatable with medication. Talk to your doctor. If it happens as often as you say, I think a doctors evaluation would be in order. cool.gif

Thing is that I won't be able to fly (Army helicopters) if I'm on medications. I just got off some sleeping pills and anxiety pills (my mom died 4 months ago) so I was grounded for a month. I needed to fly before the end of this month so I stopped taking the pills.

OOBE: Welcome to the forum. It is nice to greet a new member.

I am not quite sure that I understand what "SP" is. Is it actually called Sleep Paralysis?

Are you concerned that this could be a medical condition? Or, do you think it is something else.

I am hoping for your sake that it is not a medical condition. As friendly advice, if I may - maybe you should speak with a physician? It may not mean that you must receive medicine. Perhaps there is a simple medical answer.

I will think good thoughts for you because I don't think that I can answer any questions to SP. Good luck to you. I am sure that there are more informed site members that can help you. Everyone that I have communicated with from this site seem to be good people with a willingness to listen and be a helpful as possible.

Please let us know what you discover. We are interested in your well being.

I am sorry to read of the loss of your Mother. I hope you have good people around you to help you through your grief.

My best wishes to you
