I would like to learn FLASH. Everyone is using it nowadays so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. Besides I wanna build a personal site. I had one, but it pales in comparsion with some of these hot shots out there! Does any one have links to any sites where I could learn about this program and perhaps download a trail version for free?

I have Flash >_> but i don't know how to use it eithe, to be honest i haven't got round to it. So i'm also interested, but i don't have the time to look for any decent tutorials...

it may also be worth noting if your looking to build a better site, a lot of places now use PHP, cold fusion, and XHTML.



It's not just flash you need to learn, there's an ungodly amount of other drap you need to know to run a "homemade" web site.


there's a number of "premade" software packages that let you set up a website like UM without knowing programming.

top 2 atm are Postnuke and PHPnuke. (just add.com to the end to find thier webpages) These are free to use, but they require a server with some sort of database program (mySQL, or MS SQL)

I pretty much want a basic site. A personal site to call my own. But I would like a lil' flash to insert, too!

another program I use, when i don't want to screw with the complexities of Macromedia Flash (IE, make something simple, and quick) i use Firestarter.

I agree with doomgirl on this one, I find flash annoying and distracting regardless of how well it's done. If I click on a site and the intro is flash .... I'm outta there.

Ok, since FLASH seems to, if you forgive the synonym, flashy, can someone give me another way to insert something similiar to FLASH into a website?

Actually depends on how long your Flash Movie is. As with everyone else, time is money. And sometimes some websites take too much time on a flash scene.

My only trouble is having to put my flash website on a free website hosting server, like freewebs.com. Never updated it yet because I'm stuck on this problem.
