Hey Guys.
We have a strange anomaly here in the inland northwest, that’s been going only for the last year or so. The locals refer to them as the “Devil Lights,” and the back story behind this supposed supernatural aura, are quite interesting in its own right. About a year ago, a group of college kids at a local university (Eastern Washington University) who are tied to some environmental organization, disappeared out there, and though no trace was found, many believe that they just relocated themselves to the Oregon coast, where most seem to inhabit. They are considered “Eco-terrorists,” sabotaging logging equipment and spiking trees etc. Well, some people believe, that they are still out there, somewhere, and are tied to the actual “Devil lights” themselves. Rumor has it that it was a mass suicide, or quite possibly even murder (though there is nothing to substantiate these allegations) and the “lights” are tied to their restless spirits. Or, is possibly some cult, or something like a coven.
I have seen them, or at least “I think I saw them.” It happened fast, and I must say, they do have an aura of “evil” about them. It almost resembles a red glow of eyes and a mouth, hence the term “Devil Lights.” People are as scared as hell to venture out after them. Could be Bonfires? Could be the Northern lights? I really can’t say. But I do hope they investigate further as to the true origin (if any, I’m still skeptical).
I’m sure they’ll be more info on this within the months to follow.
Best

Who knows what they are, but it sounds interesting. If the students are behind it, and people are scared to go out there, then they have done their job well.

Someone who lives out near these lights should head out alone, under cover of darkness with a videocamera to capture them on film. I would do it but I live in Scotland....one of you lot will have to do it!

we have devil lights all over my area. they are also called 'lucifers' 'balls of fire' 'spirit tounges' and 'swamp flickers'. what they are is this: gasses from organic matierial rotting under ground build up pressure and a great deal of heat. eventually the gasses will get so cramped that they have nowhere to go, and explode out of the ground. now, a peculiar condition had been created while these matrieials were decomposing, because they were rotting, and had no contact with oxygen. when the gasses bust up, they are exposed to huge amounts of oxygen instantly, and this combined with the tremendous heat busting up at thes same time, sets them on fire on contact with the air. as gasses continue to pour out the whole, the flame keeps burning. this is far more common in swampy areas, but can happen just about anywhere if the conditions are right.

In the U.S.A. the Northern Lights can be seen in any of the states that border with Canada.

Interesting. I should check that out sometime. I live in Oregon.
However, I have heard of similar tales popping up all over the place. I wouldn't put too much stock into this one. Someone probably got tired of all the bigfoot stories and wanted a ghost story instead.

Thats cool! I want to see it. But unfortunately we dont get to see lights in the sky down here unless it is a hurricane blowing up generators. LOL! Then the sky and blue or green!
I cant believe that NO ONE is brave enough to go find out what it is though. I would do it. Someone willing to buy me a plane ticket? LOL!
