Full Version: Some thoughts of logic

Asterix
In this plethora of messages with theories regarding aliens/where they come from/why do they hate water or love flowers/ I dare posing some thoughts of mine that happen to pop up.

1) The famous question (I think it belongs to Sagan or Asimov, can't remember). If planet Earth is not special regarding life in the Universe, and there are plenty of other planets with life, and these alien life forms want to visit other planets, they would need an unimaginable amount of time and resources for travel. Now, if they would pick only Earth (which again would pose the same resources and time issue) the natural conclusion would be "If Earth is special and unique, the whole theorem is null".

2) If someone would suggest that these alien civilizations are much more advanced than ours, and could have possibly invented ways to travel with the speed of light or take advantage of wormholes, another logical conclusion would be that ALL of what is considered by us to be alien-related (e.g. UFOs) are simply irrelevant. There is no logic in the suggestion that a super-advanced alien race would succeed in the ultimate achievment, spave travel, only to a] either fail utterly in the final destination and end up crashing (Roswell) or b] perform such a travel without the proper planning that would lead to the fulfilment of its given goals. If a civilization that advanced wanted us not to notice them, they could surely do that. If they wanted us to notice them, then...well, no more comments required, I suppose.

3) When we started our infant exploration of space, out first mission wasn't to send people to other planets. And even now, the only other celestial body onto which men have landed, is the close-by moon (And again, this mission was rather made primarly for political reasons, not scientific). All elements show that the next step, Mars, might take a bit more while. And certainly it will take much more until we visit, say, Venus or Jupiter with their extremely hostile atmospheres. Instead, we send probes. An alien civilization, wishing to visit earth, and supposedly possesing the required technology, resources, time (and overcoming the issues mentioned on #2) would, logically send first probes of some sort, rather than manned missions.

Finally, a remark that sounds perhaps disappointing and pessimistic (or maybe relieving and welcome, by others). It can be so, that the Universe is just too damn big, and even if there are other civilizations out there (and all logic elements suggest that there must be) a communication between them and us could just be, impossible.

OH NO!.......Here we go again,alien probes! ! !

I tend to think our space technoligy is at a very infant stage,a bit like a baby learning to crawl. I think in time we'll gain more knowlege and instead of crawling will be able to leap! alien.gif We are not alone!

And I didn't claim we are... All I said was that the existence of alien civilizations and their coming here are two different things. grin2.gif

I think that we are being visited. I think one day we will make one huge jump in space travel and then we will be able to visit other solar systems and whatnot. Maybe if we just ask our friends, they'll loan us some of their space technology thumbsup.gif

I just thought of this right after I added my last post. Our space technology is probably most like the Model T. Very first stages in its development. From the Model T to the standard car now is a big leap.

My first thought was.. what if they want us to know thier here?

then the sightings of UFOs, and the actual creatures themselves are done because THEY want us to know.

As far as Roswell.. I personally believe 1 of 2 things happened: Shot down by our government. Or, Serious system malfunction that cause it to crash.

how do we really know they havn't sent some type of probe to moniter us? These things could have come thousands of years ago.

They are probably just messing with us to see how we react and what we do in certain situations. Its all one big experiemnt to them or a game or even a reality tv show.

Asterix does have some good points though, but I believe they are here watching us and as I said before messing with us. Why not? Its not like we are a real threat to them......yet anyway!!!! tongue.gif

Unorthodox Thesis
My suspicion is that they are planning to strke.
Hmm... You might say, if they would want to
strike us, they would have done it a long time
ago.... Yeah they would have. But could they?
Now, I hope its not annoying anyone, but I like to
base my thoughts on the bible. So, here is what I
think. There will be a time when God will pour out
his wrath. At that time, the Greays will be given permission
to strike us. Their objective would't be to kill us...
Their objective would be to make us suffer only.
Well.... I don't know thats kind of far out... but. yep.

yeah that's a good point.
if the vulcans were the first to visit earth as star trek would have you believe, then that piece of logic would have blown their lids off once they landed, or they would have had their scientists trying to figure out for years how they manged to land on earth in the first place.
i think for this conundrum and others you mention, you have to think like intelligence from another planet, and we can't. we can only think like humans. other extraterrestrials may be able to think in ways we can't imagine, possibly be able to see with their eyes, or whatever they have, other dimensions.
these questions you ask, logically make sense, to us, but for someone on another planet, whose brain, or consciousness is built differently, these questions may seem ridiculous.
Unorthodox Thesis
How can one watch "Star Trek" and keep a strait
face about aliens? .... I don't know but its just funny.

disgust.gif "SHAME ON YOU NORMAN!" These 'TREKIES' are very sensitive about people
mocking there program! But yes! I must agree, tiss hard to keep a straight face... wacko.gif ....I only lasted 2minutes 35seconds before I burst out laughing... w00t.gif Laughed so much I wet my pants! ! ! w00t.gif

Actually....that's pretty thought provoking! After all, with their technology they should be able to be descrete about their visits. I have seen footage where one flew right in front of a plane, and stayed within site for minutes before flying off at, what seemed like light speed. Now that's getting, in our face, so to speak. They must've wanted to be seen that day. disgust.gif

Yeah..Now I believe that. I totally agree. thumbsup.gif

Ok, now your just freakin' me out!! blink.gif I'm already paranoid, now I'll be really looking over my shoulder!! crying.gif
Yes, I've thought that same question too, about "them" having some kind of monitor on us. For what purpose? That's my question. I mean after all the Government monitors us just to invade on our privacy, but what do the Aliens want? huh.gif That's the real question.....

jeceris
missed the point completely norman. huh.gif
Unorthodox Thesis
Yeah.... I like to make comments
about stuff.
The Nameless One
Have you ever wondered what an alien on another planet would be doing right now, I always wonder if they are playing Video Games, or discussing the same crap we are talking about.

I find it humorous grin2.gif
Asterix
If they are super-advanced civilization, I don't think they're using Windows or X-box. grin2.gif
