Hey, me and a few friends were out skateboarding one night (about 2/3 in the morning). We were filming for a video and i was walking up some stairs when i hear two clear screams coming from behind us in the darkness. My friend was filming at the time. We had NO IDEA what it was, I showed a few people and have a feeling it may be a banshee scream. What i belive from the information i have read (sorry if this is all wrong), the banchee will only scream at someone with a O' as thier last name and an Irelander. My last name starts with B and I live in Australila, but my mothers maiden name was O'sullivan and her family orinated from Ireland so I feel thats where the link is. And i also feel that it means not I or someone in my family is being warned of death, but someone in Ireland maybe becuase we are all linked togher. Well, check this video out, if your having troubel hearing it, the first scream comes as soon as my foot touchs the top step.
PLEASE REPLY on what you think. I dont know much at all about banchee so any information at all would be excellent. thanks!

http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/spirit...d_mundane/27315"The Banshee, like a ghost, often represents death. She can appear transparent, and is the size of a living person. Nevertheless, like her fae counterparts, she is associated with a more magickal Otherworld."
That link had alot of helpfull info. Some people heard the screaming easy in the video and some diddnt. I suggest wearing headphones, when I put my foot on the top step the first scream is heard, then a quiter one afterwards. Anyone with information about this "sighting" would be helpfull, im very curious!

I realise listning to it on a video cam would be a lot more muffled and hard to make out than if I were actually there, but it sounds like an animal cry. I can think of the animal but can't think of the name...if i remember i'll let you know. But i don't think its anything to get worked up about.
Could it have been a person?...Did you consider someone might have been in trouble.
Am i right in pressuming this was filmed IN Aussie?
There are certain types of animals there that have very strange crys and are not always heard.

You're right, I heard it when I put some headphones on... Its not much of a scream... doesnt really sound like a scream, sounds more like a hiss. Anyway, I wouldnt but much stock on it being supernatural... theres a small banging noise that seems to follow the screams which could indicate that its being caused because of the hiss... maybe someone trying to hit an animal...

I thought that sounded familiar and now I know why. I think what you've heard there is a Barn Owl. Click on this link I'm providing and go down to the last audio clip. (The one from Australia, 1984)

I believe the sound to be from a Tasmanian Devil. This link will exsplain why!
Here is a little part of that site:The Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii) cannot be mistaken for any other marsupial.
Its spine-chilling screeches, black colour, and reputed bad-temper, led the early European settlers to call it The Devil. Although only the size of a small dog, it can
sound and look incredibly fierce.

An animal scream.
And Banshees wail and cry - not scream blue murder.
If you look on any search engine you will find ooooodles of information.

I understand completely. I was in the foothills of the Ozarks and heard the Banshee. I didn't want to scare myself, so the first night I assumed her cry was that of either wolves or some odd birds, but the bone chilling effect, and supernatural, unearthly cry was known somewhere in my heart. My Grandmother is from Scottland, the maiden name of MacArthur. The Banshee also follows this surname and those that have lineage. I want to hear it again. I am completely dumbfounded, and I have searched the internet to extreme depths to find just one wolf, wolves, or cyote cries that even compare with no success. Please help me.

If you have settings change them around and at the end of the 6 sec clip it sounds like a growl of some kind after the scream.

Although I didn't hear anything on the vid, I'm wondering if you have any Catamounts in your area--mountain lions.
Those things can really let out a nasty wail that'll cause gooseflesh faster than any nip in the night air.

Hmm, interesting video.
The first thing I heard was a raspy scream which kind of reminded me of some sort of bird, followed by the second scream that also reminded of a bird. The third scream on the other hand sounds like a more human voice, what sounds like a moan, but not of pain if you get what I mean.

Nah man, i live in Tasmania, have heard the Tasmaian devil man times, and that was no it. Thier cry is more throaty and kind of a raspy growl. I'm pretty sure what you have jacksonisrad is an owl, like Falco Rex said. We have them here and they make a noise very similar. From the video though the audio's pretty muffled. Its too distorted to make any real conclusion

Burnside is correct the banshee only screams for 5 irish family and they all start with a o, i do not know what you heard but i am sure it was not a banshee, just a foot note they only scream if someone in the five family's is about to die!

it sounds birdish. dunno what bird. proabbaly the owl people are on about. and i also thought a bashee "cried" not screamed. hence "cry of the banshee"
