What is the difference between spirituality and religion?
Falco Rex
I think you can have both at the same time but they are not mutually exclusive to each other. Spirituality is the state of mind a person has that allows them to search for the answers to the questions of god and faith and our place in the scheme of things metaphysically. Spirituality is a state of being while religion is a label you or others use to describe whatever your personal faith might be..
Of course having a religion you adhere to while having no real spirituality to speak of is not impossible either...

If a person is spritual he/she believes there's more than just the physical world. It could be belief in spritis, ghosts, fairys, etc. Religion is belief in some supreme power, meaning god/gods. I guess person has to be at least a bit spritual to be able to have faith in religious meaning. I'm sure there's more than this to it, ppl can be spritiual in million different ways.

I believe that spirituality encompasses all the present, yet unquantifiable forces that drive a being. A person's will power, their tolerance, their ability to see the world through their chosen art, and most of all, their honor, all these things, and the devotion to them, is what makes up spirituality. Spirituality is the unknown variable that seperates our abilities from those of machines.

Religion is the belief in powers not of man's creation and beyond their ability to understand. Live with, possibly, but not understand.

I believe the difference is spirituality exists with or without a God, religion doesn't. Then again, maybe religion does too.

There is a difference between these two terms. One can be spiritual and need not be religious and vice versa. To be religious means more of a fanatic version. To be spiritual means to be very enquiring attitude. Being spiritual means to enquire about our own spirit or nature. This enquiring attitude is not because of any fear in life, but because of curiosity. Being spiritual is a more matured or advanced level of evolutionary thinking. The highest evolved people are spiritual.

Religious people are in the path of evolution (please excuse me, If I hurt anyone). I do not mean to demean religious people. Being spiritual or religious are like students at different levels of understanding. Religious people later mature to become Spiritual.

Atheist are at the level of religious people, the only difference is that they are at the other direction. Both the religious and atheist are fanatic about a certain belief. The religious strongly believe in a God and Atheist strongly believe there is no God. It is interesting to note that, the theist BELIEVE in a GOD that does not exist and also atheist DO NOT BELIEVE in a God that does not exist. Neither the atheist nor the theist do not know the reality of the creation and existence of God or life. It is spiritual people who with a balance look at things and enquire. The spiritual people are with an open mind and see the reality as it is. Their enquiring nature without any strong Concept in their mind helps them to see the reality.

To give an example, a spiritual person is like Judge is a person does not support the accused or the accused. The judge simply looks at the two sides without any bias and that is why his decision is "Justice". The same way the spiritual enquires without the belief or disbelief of God. Like a Judge spiritual view is balanced and finds the truth like a judge enquiring the “case”. Theist and atheist have strong concepts and so miss the truth like the attorneys who defend for their client.

SO FREINDS EVOLVE TO BE SPIRITUAL

For me spirtituality is the essence of humanity. Religion is the attempt to institutionalise the the essence, often ending in disaster w00t.gif .

Agreed, Religion is mans attempt at organizing spiritual people. Even Jesus encountered a problem he organized 12 disciples of which one turns out to be a traitor to the cause. I think that measure of numbers holds true even in todays church.
Just my opinion though.
