Good link Magikman.
If you want to read about this subject from a Fiction book, try Dan Brown's latest book!

Yes, I have read the book, DaVinci Code by Dan Brown, in which the Priory of Scion plays a major role.
I have tried to find out if it still exists, but theories are garbled.

"Holy Blood, Holy Grail" I believe is where the Priory of Sion was first introduced. Great book if you get a chance to read it.
Concerning the Priory of Sion I remember reading somewhere that during a French court case that the supposed Grand Master (Leader) Pierre Plantard was pretty much debunked as a fraud and thus takes the Priory with him.
The Priory of Sion was supposed to be the keepers of the "Holy Grail" or the actual bloodline of Christ or House of David. The Merovingians are according to Priory documents to be decendents of Christs' bloodline.
This just scratches the surface of the Priory of Sion mystery, but gives a basic feel of what the society was about. The book Holy Blood, Holy Grail goes into much more detail and really creates a mystery that is of great fun to research.
Hope this helps,

THe Priory of Sion is a fictional organization that was "created" by a right (or was it left i can't remember) wing nazi living in France. The whole organization is fictional as are it supposed leaders.

It's based on a real group founded like a thousand years ago, but all they did was basically steal the name.

Aye. The list of leaders are a whose who of great thinkers, authors and artist through the ages. Was always skeptical of that.
