I've played for about 14 years, finally tried it last year and it just sucked. It's tough enough to follow all the offensive players.
I vote 'no' but don't care enough either way to protest if it's included.
I never played with a defensive player before, Would we pick just one guy like a flex player? point per tackle, blocked pass, int. and all that? what I have always played with in both leagues was.

We'd start 1 QB, 2RB's, 3WR's, 1 TE, DEF/SP TEAMS, 1 Kicker. So would the IDP be added to the mix or replace one of the WR's or the TE? I dont care either way, just curious.

the main reason i do'nt play is simply because it ruins watching the games for me.
i watch it to relax and have a good time with my best friends in the world.
watching and keeping fantasy score would just ruin it for me.other than an office pool,
i never bet on it either.football season comes and goes so fast,i want to enjoy the hell out of it,
not worry while watching it!

No, in addition to the offensive players, you would pick multiple defensive players. 25 man total roster, probably 4-5 starting defensive player spots (LB/DL and DB)
It would be added to the mix.
I will go through different formats later.

Multiple D players? I haven't even heard of that. Kinda sounds like a headache.

No job is permanent in the NFL. This rumblings around here that Urlacher wants to be traded. I say trade him now for some good draft pics, and a freak'n QB for christ sakes.

Nobody's sure WHAT the hell is the real story is down here. Nobody's talkin. I will say that Head Coach Tony Sparano and GM Jeff Ireland were seen speaking with Taylor at a recent charity event that Taylor hosts, which further leads me to believe that the "MIA" of Taylor comes more from Parcells and not from Taylor and his people. Either way, nobody really wins if Taylor isn't in camp, other teams can't see what kind of shape he's really in(cause he ain't on the field), and The Fins don't have ANYBODY on their team at the moment that can impact the game defensively like Taylor can. Besides, all of this conjecture may just be moot if Taylor plans on retiring next year.

How's his back? That may play into the trade-talk, positively or negatively. Nobody is gonna trade anything significant for a guy that isn't sound physically, and no team is gonna give a guy a bigger payday they know will be forced out of football by injury sooner rather than later. Hate to say it, but until Da Bears fix the QB situation, they look A LOT like The Fins to me....unfortunately.

Be careful with THOSE kinda questions, that's EXACTLY what Fins fans asked before they traded away Chris Chambers and Wes Welker how'd THAT work out?(1-15), LOL. Nobody's gonna give up a lot in a player-for-player trade anymore, the days of the Herchel Walker type trades are gone. If I were Da Bears..considering that they've essentially told they're fans that it'll be Grossman or Orton this year, period....I would look to see which QB excells in Green Bay(try and keep from puking for a moment please) this year, Rogers or Brohm, or Miami, Henne or Beck, and look to trade for whichever isn't happy with sitting the bench. Unless they feel there is an impact QB coming out of college that they'll have a shot at next year(Drew Stafford?).

That's also a possibility, but I would think that this year, it would be Orton or Grossman. Da Bears are gonna take they're time, and hope to get a good long look at whomever they're zeroing in on in the preseason. Unless there's an injury of some kind in the regular season, most...if not all...of the current backups on NFL rosters won't sniff the field, and therefore, you don't know what you'll be getting.
And the price ain't gonna be cheap.

it's damn near deadly now.i don't see how any of the old timers survived back from the 1940s to the 1970s.i read a study that said that
other than kickers, most men who play at least 6 years
of pro football, live an average of 10 years less than the general population.
with the way they hit,i can certainly believe that.

Jun 25 2008, 05:17 PM
While the games are similar in some aspects, comparing the two in terms of "toughest" is too difficult to do. I played some college ball, but never any Rugby or Aussie Football, so my perspective is one-sided. Both games can be brutal in terms of "hits" and while in rugby there are no pads and therefore a greater chance for injury, in the game of football that's played in America is a but more "specialized" in terms of it's athletes...wide receivers, quarterbacks, defensive backs, and some defensive ends, etc.

I think it's that particular aspect that seperates the two sports. In the NFL you have kids like Glenn Dorsey and Sedrick Ellis who are only 21-22 years old, over 300lbs., and bench pressing 225lbs. 30 or more times. All this while running the 40 yard dash in under five seconds. If those guys diddn't wear pads, there would be no NFL, after the first few fatalities, they would be shut down.
I'm sure there are plenty of current Rugby players whose talents and athletic abilities would translate well into the NFL.

OTs like Bryant McKinnie, Joe Thomas, and Jake Long are just athletic BEASTS. I cannot imagine a guy who weighs 340 run 40 yds in under 5 seconds AND bench pressing 225 close to 40 reps.
