Go Bucks! This is going to turn into one big rivalry with the OSU fans. Turning families against one another. And friends. It'll be another OSU/Michigan rivalry.

We'll see how it turns out!

No...If Culpepper plays good, then there is no need to make a comeback. But his playing ability is the question...

You mean his EXECUTION is in question, his ability has never been in question...as it usually is with psysically gifted QB's, it's their decision-making within the offense that either makes them or breaks them....it just looked like he tried to do too much in the 4th quarter, and I can't fault him for trying to win...the pass-protection looked really good, but the lack of a functional running-game made them one-dimentional...and that just plays-into the hands of a good blitzing/pass-rushing team like the Steelers...couple that with the defensive lapses that accounted for the first touchdown pass and the long pass to Miller...the TD to Ward...that was just a Pro-Bowl receiver doing what he does best..get open......Otherwise, I was mildly encourged by what I saw and believe that The Fins will be a factor in the AFC East this year.

I'm not, but we've been over that.
Damn Detroit and Buffalo yesterday for not making up for my 'Boys shooting themselves in the crotch after the first quarter.
God, I love Parcells. "Hey, I've got a two score lead with 3/4 of the game to go. Let's play turtle and crawl all the way back into our shell."
Idiot. Pissed me off so bad, had to make a second beer run at halftime just to cool the anger. angry.gif

I was kinda dissapointed LJ didn't rush for 100+...I want him to rush for 2000.

He'll get back into the groove it's still a new season. Vikings first drive was great, muffing the extra point was not. Haven't looked quite as good since.

I'm surprised at that score as well.....and the Carolina score...and the Denver score, lol. Was it just me? or were there an inordinate amount of fumbles in week #1?

Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS Frogfish, on the Vikes last second win vs. The Skins....a win is a win, eh?

Overall, the Vikes played much better than the Redskins did. They just got a lucky pass at the end.

Our defense played good, and so did our offense. Williamson had a couple big drops, but he'll make up for that. Brad Johnson always looks sharp.

I've got a couple of tough games to call in my job-pool this week:

1. Giants at Eagles

2. Carolina at Minny(hands-off Frogfish, lol)

3. Pitt at Jacksonville

Any thoughts?
~Onyx~
Forget the "waffling' on the Carolina vs. Minny game....just discovered that Dan Morgan is out with a concussion, Steve Smith is questionable(so even if he DOES play, it won't be at full-strenth), as is starting center Justin Hartwig. Starting LT Travelle Wharton tore knee ligaments(out for the year), so Jordan Gross will move from RT to LT and that propels Todd Fordham into the starting lineup......I'm a goin' wit Minny.

The Giants looked bland against the Colts, and Eli was up for that game against Big Brother. He'll be more his scattershot self this week. Eagles rout.
Jacksonville is my Super Bowl pick, but this week they lose. Leftwich is too immobile in the face of Blitzburgh's D. Can you say target practice for Joey and Troy?

Eli will be fine but it's that Tiki owns the Eagles. If they can avoid those stupid penalties, they will win.

Minnesota will extract revenge!

I ended up taking The Eagles over The Giants and The Jags over The Steelers(when in doubt, take the home team).....so off I go, like a wild-ass, to submit my picks, lol.

That was my original thinking as well, then I broke-down just how much better along BOTH lines Philly is(it begins and ends in the trenches)..and how Eli is good for at least two turnovers a game(Int or fumble), and also the fact that Philly is at home, and it kinda sealed the deal for me....but we shall see.
snuffypuffer
I'm going with the Giants over the Eagles. I think Tiki is the deciding factor here.

Yes, Eagles have a slight advantage on defense (They held LT to 7 yards last year!!!!), but the Giants have a more potent offense.

Provided Eli dosen't turn the ball over. But I gave the edge to the Eagles, all things considered.....they are the home team.

How do you blow an obvious call, after review, when everyonce can clearly see that Oregon touched the onside kick before it went ten yards? Therefore handing Oregon the game?

*If Oklahoma hadn't blown a 13 point lead, it wouldn't have mattered, but still, the officiating was terrible. no.gif

Another Saturday afternoon gone by; and another Purdue Boilermaker win!
The triple threats of ISU, Miami(of Ohio), and Ball State have been vaporized.. grin2.gif

Of course, now that we're done with AA teams we may be in trouble, but today showed some flashes of real talent..
If our defense can actually stop a drive and if Curtis Painter can decide to not throw quite so many interceptions, we may have a team..
Still; as much as I mock Painter he's only a sophomore, and his record is 7-0 in games he's started..
You can't argue with the big "W"..
Look out Minnesota Golden Gophers!

Only 4 more wins for a Bowl bid!! cool.gif

I know I talk way too much about a Boiler team that is average at best; but Hell; I have season tickets, and I don't want them to be a waste.. no.gif

It seems like the refs are out to get us tongue.gif Last years Notre Dame game and the Alamo Bowl were the two worst officiated games ever.

Plus, Brady Quinn sucks. Heisman my arse..

I'm looking forward to Michigan vs. Purdue. You better get your popcorn ready. It;s the Hart and Manningham show yes.gif

So far; officiating has sucked across the board..If I see one more face-mask call because somebody grabbed shoulders I'm going to scream..

All of Notre Dame sucks. They can go die. #2? What the...they never deserved that.

My Weekly NFC North Analysis:

Bears vs Lions:
They both have a strong looking defense. This game comes down to who can muster the most offense. Detroit definitely has the advantage in the passing game, but after their horrible offensive showing against the Seahawks, that is in question. I see the Bears winning 14-7.

Minnesota vs Carolina:
Both teams have good defenses and solid offenses. With Steve Smith and Dan Morgan out for the Panther, I don't see them winning. The load is on Deshon Foster's back. Minnesota's aerial attack by Johnson may not be spectacular, but it should be steady. And with the steady pounding by Taylor behind Minnesota's O-line, Minn. should dominate on both the ground and air.
Minnesota 24 Carolina 14

New Orleans vs Green Bay:
Can Favre work some of his magic against the Saints? I think so. Look for big games from Ahman Green and Donald Driver. Koren Robinson should give a noticable boost in returns. The question in New Orleans is can their running game dominate. Bush had a good debut, and eyes will be on him to see if he can do better. If Green Bay puts pressure with their D-line against the Saint's weak O-line, and if they can relatively stop Bush, they'll come out with a win.
Green Bay-33 New Orleans-10

I wouldn't mind seeing a Superbowl re-match of Bears/Patriots this year. I don't think it would be so one-sided this time around.
frogfish
Wow, Packer lost...Maybe they are that bad...

Well, this certainly was a great week in the NFL. Lots of good games. Plus, my Vikes won. Ryan Longwell was the last person to throw a TD and kick a FG since George Blanda...

Watch out Bears, you won't win in our house.

I'd hardly cal that "beating the crap" out of the Steelers. It was more like two of the best defenses in the league going at it until one of them blinked. The Steeler's offense looked out of sync all night.

I can't wait for that Vikes/Bears game this weekend. The early season showdown, I'm pulling for the Vikes, Bears may be little stronger though. Still, it's in Minnesota so I think the Vikings will win by a hair.

It will be a great game AntiGravity. For sure. I get excited just thinking about watching the Bears (only when they're winning, of course, lol). I've always kinda liked the Vikings as well, they are going to have a real hard time competing against each other. I'm guessing the score will be close. I'm not gonna say who wins though.

>_> if soccer is for wusses, then american football must be for pansies. Rugby, virtually the same game, the players wear no armor. Why is it the american footballers do? o_o;

American Football players are also much bigger, stronger and athletic. I don't see how one is more 'manly' because they wear no armor which is pretty silly seeing as how whenever you take a hit to the head, you lose braincells. Just ask Muhammad Ali.

Better yet, LOL let's see you put some pads on and be able to take a hit from Michael Strahan, Brian Dawkins, Jeremy Shockey or Lawrence Taylor and get up and say 'This is a pansy sport!'

On another note, I'm a huge Giants fan.

I'll post what I posted in another thread:

Pay homage to the New York Giants for owning the Eagles and pissing off the fans with this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SClXyL-rgyE LOL@ What Buress says to the Eagles fans which caused the classless Eagles fans to then do this:

QUOTE
Philly fans "welcome" NY media?

SNY reporter David Lee and cameraman Christian Perez were greeted with obscenities and flying bagels when they arrived at the Linc parking lot Sunday for the Giants game with the Eagles, according to the NY DAILY NEWS.

Upon returning to their SUV following the Giants' win, they found fans already had said goodbye - Philly style.

The right side mirror was ripped off, the back wiper was bent, part of the SNY logo was scraped off, one tire had been slashed, and the car had been "washed" with a combination of urine and beer. "I don't think I want to return to Philadelphia anytime soon," Lee said.

Philly fans (in my opinion) are some of the most classless fans ever. I remember when Joe Jurivious' son died and when he caught a pass for a TD in the endzone, the fans were saying things like

"How's your kid doin'?" "Where's your son?" "Tell your son I said 'hi'".

They spit on fans, urinate on cars. I don't know what's so 'Brotherly Love' about them.

QUOTE

I cannot stand the Steelers simply because they played like garbage in the Super Bowl and people claim ROFLsburger is a God or something. He's a good QB and that's about it. People compairing him to Brett Farve (not the one of recent) and Marino is garbage.
antigravity
Boy Decap, that's some story there. Sounds like those Philly fans got exactly what they deserved, a kick in the teeth from Plaxico Buress. Those fans are the product of a team that loses a couple of NFC championships and loses a Superbowl all in three years. Still, you didn't see us Red Sox fans behaving like that before 2004, it had been 86 years. Let me end this paragraph with the disclaimer that I know that all Eagles fans are not jerks, but those particular individuals certainly were.

As far as comparisons of Rothlisberger to Favre, I was never big on Favre anyways. Everybody seems to think that Packers were a semi-dynasty back in the late 90's. They only won one Superbowl, Favre has been way too reckless throughout his career. I think Brady or Carson Palmer on those same Packer teams would have won at least two S.B.s.
