You want toughness? Forget Rugby

Watch rugby league...

Get yourselves a video of Saturday night's Tri Nations final between the Australian Kangaroos and New Zealand Kiwis....

16-12 to Australia after extra time...

That - my friends - is an exciting sport... thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

Hey, at least they don't like hugging on other men and falling on top of them. I don't like football, and I do like soccer slightly. So this comment pissed me off.

There's a growing trend of NFL players kissing each other now. I'm not lying. I've seen Chad Johnson kiss a dude twice now. Psychoanalyze that, will you?

I might have come-up with an intelligent, informative, and insightful answer if I wasn't such a homaphob.

You only have to look at the dive the Italian player took in the WC against Australia to see what a waste of time the game is........

Man I love when people make comments like this. Uh duh they wear protective gear so they don't get hurt. I would call that intelligence. No?

Well Ohio state is going to play the Gators.

I hope the gators win and lol USC lost to UCLA

and in more serious matters

My giants go down again sad.gif

I guess I got to be cheering on my Jets for now on.
snuffypuffer
why don't they just go to a playoff already? It's the only way to find an undisputed national champion.

Anyhow Oklahoma gets Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. *sighs*
frogfish
What the hell! The NCAA NEEDS a playoff system. If they really want to crown the best team, that's what they should do. It would also be better for NCAA football...it pays great divedents for March Madness. A playoff system would create games non-football fans would pay to see.

God, I hope OSU kills the Gators. They don't deserve to be there.

Brooks Bollinger for QB in Minni! Brad Johnson lost us the game. Our defense was smoking, and we lost the game. This proves it. Great defenses can't always win. You need help on Offense or SP teams (the breasons the bears win)
Rahl
You do not need to worry if americans say soccer is wussie, pansy or what ever is they say, only americans play soccer , they agreed is pansy game. Europeans play the game wth a different name (Football) at a level not comprehensible to average 'soccer' pansy of usa. I agree with your soccer is wussie with your limited usa experience. and uselessness at playing .

A little off-topic, but....If memeory serves me right, the USA Women's team has dominanted on the world soccer scene along with Germany.

Well, soccer can only loosely be characterized as a 'sport'.
snuffypuffer
People are talking that the Saints are Superbowl contenders. That's right, I said the Saints and Superbowl in the same sentence, with reference to each other. I've seen a couple games, they look really good. Does this mean the world is about to end?
Sweetpumper
Well, the Cowboys looked like they didn't belong in the same league as the Saints Sunday nite.
snuffypuffer
I didn't see that game, but I heard many a disgruntled Cowboys fan afterwards. I did catch them against Atlanta on the Monday Night game, I didn't think they'd keep it up, though.
frogfish
Go Saints!

Damn Hester...I hate that guy.

I've known about Devin Hester since he was playing "optimist" football....believe it or not, he wasn't even the fastest guy ON HIS TEAM when he was at the "U".
frogfish
He's good, but I don't think he deserves Rookie of The Year. That goes to Vince Young.
et's daddy
Hester should be rookie of the year

he is breaking records and doing it mostly by himself

Vince is winning games, but thats much more of a team effort then what Hester is doing
frogfish
WHo cares if he's breaking records? Only 3 of his returns actually made a difference, and in those games, they won by a margin of more than 1 TD. Plus, returners have one great year and that's it, except for Primetime. just look at Hall, or Drummond, or Rossum.

Vince Young has marched down the field to beat the colts, he won in OT with an amazing run. He is leading his team to victory, you can't ask for more.

Well, the fact that he's the QB, yes.

They can't go down the field without him.
snuffypuffer
The fact is, Devin Hester is accounting for a good amount of Chicago's scoring. It's not like they have an offense to speak of. He gets my vote just because of that.

I agree, based on the fact that without a competent QB...your the Arizona Cardinals of the past 10 years(even WITH Hester)...it's the single most important position in pro sports.

With a defense like theirs, they don't need to score...I can't wait til Rex Grossman blows it in the Playoffs and they lose!

yes.gif
snuffypuffer
Oh Chicago will lose. It's their tradition! yes.gif Besides, they'll run up against Dallas and New Orleans, and one of those teams is going to the Superbowl.
Super Pancake
I'll go with Young as rookie of the year.

Hester is going to fad away watch in a few days teams are going to learn, there going to punt the ball to the sidelines or out of bounds, and during kick offs there going to try and go deep in the endzone. Defending special teams is all about good coaching.

As for MVP Brees gets it the saints were not supposed to be good this year but they proved us wrong.
~Onyx~
Who's the Defensive MVP so far this season? Jason Taylor is getting a big push down here in Miami, but I happen to think that the fact that he not on a playoff team this year is going to hurt his chances...not that he hasn't had an MVP-caliber season or stats....I just think that beacuse Merriman and Urlacher(previous winner) will have there teams in playoffs, they will be more visable and get more consideration.

Exactly. Dante Hall hasn't been amazing since the year when he had 4 returns.

Personally, I vouch for Brees as the MVP, but I think LT will get it.

Urlacher won't get it...If he does, I'll kill myself.
Shawn Merriman I think is doing a great job, other than that steroids crap. I think he'll win it....Damn Chargers, they moved up one spot before the Vikes in the draft and stole Merriman from us!
I think Jason Taylor and DeMeco Ryans get an honorable mention.
~Onyx~
Brees is having a great year, there was talk for awhile that he would approach the single-season passing-yardage record held by Marino(5,084).......but then L.T. rewrote the record-books, and STILL has 2 more games(if The Chargers decide to play him in the final 2 games) left. Considering that every team in the league goes into a game against The Chargers saying "we've GOT to stop L.T." I think that makes his accomplishments this year too hard to ignore or leave unrewarded...he gets MY vote for league M.V.P. hands-down(and, am I the only one who feels that, considering they were BOTH on the same team just a year ago, The Chargers front office dosen't get NEAR as much credit as they deserve?).
frogfish
I think he'll win the MVP unanimously...
snuffypuffer
LT is just about a lock at this point.

So who do you think is the best team in the NFL? Chargers, Colts, or the Ravens? New England can never be ruled out as long as Tom Brady is in the lineup. The way the Chargers are clicking I don't know if anyone can beat them.

Don't rule-out The Saints, they remind me alot of the Miami Dolphins teams of the 80's and early 90's(a TON of offense, and juuuuuust enough defense to get by)...I just think that they'll come-up short against either the Chargers or The Ravens.....could you imagine a Colts/Saints Superbowl?(for those who like offense) the over/under would be about 80, lol.
snuffypuffer
Oh, I think the Saints are one of the best teams in the NFC, no question. I'd love to see the Colts in the Superbowl, Peyton and crew aren't going to be getting too many more chances.
frogfish
I would love to see a Saints vs. Chargers/Colts SB!

And by the way, Minnesota has 3 Pro Bowlers! C Matt Birk, LT Steve Hutchinson, and DL Kevin Williams.

I was hoping RB Chester Taylor would make it, but looks like he just missed out.

Well, can't say that those 3 wern't deserving!! Taylor has had a very good season(finally out of the shadow of Jamal Lewis) and just got caught-up in a numbers game, it just shows what a good pick-up he was by The Vikes front-office. thumbsup.gif

I think a Chargers/Saints Superbowl would be the most entertaining(not to mention the side-stories with Brees being the former starting QB for S.D.)...in a game like that, I would have to go with the team that showed it can run the ball better and play better defense...The Chargers.
frogfish
You never know...wink2.gif

Chester Taylor will make it next year!
