user posted image rRumours recently running round that one may die after receiving a phone call from certain strange numbers tagged "killer numbers", has been described as ridiculous, unscientific and the work of unscrupulous agents meant to destabilise the telecommunications sector. However, Digital Times investigations seem to reveal that there may actually be a strange phenomenon operating behind the scene, through mobile phone calls.Over the weekend, residents of number 5, Jimoh Street, Agbele in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State were thrown into pandemonium when one of them, Aderibigbe Femi Mansur received a phone call from an unknown person and number, but "witnesses" said he passed out before he could initiate a conversation after picking the call. The number from where the call originated was written with chalk on a plywood before all who cared to see .The number, 08023066866, was boldly placed in front of the New Temple Spiritual Church, where Mansur was reportedly revived. This incident, which caused a commotion among the residents of the area, created a new twist in the ongoing killer numbers saga. The most amazing part of the latest development is still the mystery behind the possibility of calling GSM subscribers with numbers that do not exist on any GSM network.

All attempts to call the supposedly killer numbers always received the reply of "the number you are trying to call is not reachable."In its reaction to the rumour, the Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) on Thursday, stated that it is impossible to receive a call from a number that does not exist on any network.

Sounds very 'Ring'ish, however what if it's actually somekind of virus transmitted through phone signals?

There are cellphone viruses that travel through the signals and disrupt cell phones just like computer viruses, why not ones that can actually affect a human being? Very X files huh.

Ridiculous! Yeah next time if I get a crank call I'm gonna worry about whether or not I'm gonna live! Sheesh! Where do these people come up with things like this? Here's the first thing: check your caller id on your cell before you answer!
