Mr. X,
It's an analogy, but isn’t it amazing what a little bit of imagination can do? Except for the plane crash, it reads suspiciously like George R. Stewarts novel “Earth Abides”.(An excellent book by the way, check your library for a copy, I highly recommend it.) There are of course hundreds of other examples; “The Scarlet Plaque” by Jack London, “Alas, Babylon, by Pat Frank, ”On the Beach” by Nevil Shute, “The Stand” by Stephen King, and Robert McCammon’s “Swan’s Song” to name just a few. Working with the premise of a post-apocalyptic event, the authors listed have envisioned what may transpire with humanity given a certain set of circumstances. It’s obvious this author has plotted his story (fictionalized, certainly) to mimic what has become many people’s vision of New Age ‘historical reality’, that of what may have transpired if an advanced civilization crash landed on Earth countless centuries ago. Can you see what he’s hinting at here? Or do you choose to follow what is easily a flawed path and manufacture your own perception of an alternative truth from some of our historical anomalies? This is just a point of view from a purely logical, analytical brain, so I’m guessing it may not be the correct assumption. Your thoughts are………..?
