Does anyone remember the short lived nbc tv series "The Others"? It aired for midseason in I think 1998 or 1999. Very good I wonder why all the paranormal shows get killed off so quick?
Tia
Can you give us a summary of the show? thanks grin2.gif
RelicHunter
Sure thing!
Actually the show was made in 2000 and this is a link to imdb.com that has the info on it and on the cast.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0229916/

College student Marian Kitt is terrified to discover that she has the power to see into the "other side." Word of Marian's vision spreads to Professor Miles Ballard, a student of paranormal and psychic phenomena. He introduces Marian to "the others," a group of individuals with the ability to vicariously experience the feelings, thoughts and experiences of others, and to help them understand paranormal phenomena. Famed medium Elmer Greentree is their spiritual leader and a mentor figure for Marian, whose potential to see "all of the light" is strong. With Marian now among them, they will help each other understand their abilities as they encounter otherworldly, often frightening, alternative dimensions. And all the while, a dark force looms over them.

I think this was the best show on tv, even better than my *sigh* beloved relic hunter. I was extremly mad when they cancelled!

Also another good show was MIRICLES. It seems to me that alot of people are afraid to watch shows like this :-(
Tia
Miracles I loved it! We were lucky we got all the first series in Australia, though I did miss a few.
It was the others I watched as well, though I only came into it in the last couple of episodes. Did you see the last one?
I agree every time you find something interesting to watch they cancel it. disgust.gif

Maybe because of the popularity of The Dead Zone they'll start bringing them back. I loved them and can't wait to see the d***n reality TV fad go away. wacko.gif aaarrrggg

I love watching "The Dead Zone"... I read the hard cover Stephen King book, and the Movie with Christopher Walken in it, and picked up the first season on DVD- and got hooked. lol

Hi, yeah the others was a great tv show. What happened to it!!! it just suddenly stopped!! I loved the episode were a man had an operation on his eyes and it left him being able to see the other side and he could see demons and stuff all around him. Did any body watch the stephen king mini series kingdom hospital?

I don't have cable so I can't watch the dead zone or any of those good shows that on the scifi channel. sad.gif

Ya I hope they start bring shows like that back. I've seen a few eps of Kingdom Hospital and I really didn't like it. It was too wierd, not scary, slow moving and boring.

i always associated quite well with that paranoid jittery guy on "the others." that and he was cool.

I used to stay up late to catch episodes of THE OTHERS, but then for some reason they just finished. I'm not sure I remember liking the way they finished it off.

I remember that they ended the show that everyone died except Merriam(?) was the only one left alive in her car that was going to get hit by a train or something to that extent. But I felt that show how everyone was going to live except NBC never gave it a second season. I wanna see the show on DVD. :-) NBC always kills the good shows: the others, profiler, pretender, and just shoot me.

Did anyone see the preview for the new NBC show "Median"? It wasn't that good but I think the show could have potential.

I've never really watched it. I just started to and it was pretty good but I haven't seen it in a while because I'm busy. I think some of the newer eps. were better than the older ones. Did anyone here watch freakylinks on FOX?

The paranormal sparks some sort of interest in almost everyone. Most paranormal shows are VERY good, well written, but like said some people are afraid to watch them, some people fear the paranormal, some people are biased, and the shows are frowned upon.

The current TV trend SUCKS, in America atleast. There are literally hundreds of sitcoms, all about the same few things: Rich people, parties, lame jokes. It's all based around crude, badly written, and utterly annoying sexual humor or drugs, and the whole show revolves around sex. I do not find that entertaining at all, nor talking about body parts funny at all. It's extremely annoying. I would much rather the best late night show ever, The Red Green Show, or something paranormal. An example of a terrible new show is The Mountain. It has great potential, but the story quickly seems to have turned into all about the young owners getting laid. devil.gif

I could rant forever, but the bottom line is that paranormal shows are usually shunned by the networks that air them, put on at terrible times, and sometimes the shows themselves are biased.

I agree with you 100% Raven. Did you see the previews for the show MEDIUM on nbc? I believe it starts jan. 3

Indeed I did! I thought it looked ok, I just hope it's not another run of the mill show, or American style.
RelicHunter
I think your right about the show. I hope it's gonna be good but I doesn't look like it. If they made it too good(The Others, Mircles) than it would get cancelled :-(

I'm new here, but I really like this place. I vaguely remember 'The Others' it was pretty good. But I watched Miracles a lot and I got so mad when they cancelled it. I love the X-Files though, I watch it religiously. I think TV has gone to crap, w/ all the reality tv & sitcoms, I'll admit there are a few good ones but not many. Oh well rolleyes.gif
