Full Version: If they were discoverd...

If creatures like Bigfoot, Chubacabra, etc. were discoverd to be real, would you be as interested in them? Perosnally I like the whole mysterious-ness that goes along with them. I think it's fun to believe there are un-discoverd animals running around. If they were discoverd to be real, I think they would lose their appeal for me. I want them to stay hidden....

i think your cukoo. if one of these creatures was discovered, you would have actual solid scientific information about them. you could get the real facts, not abunch of contradictive mumbo-jumbo from thousands of different people who cant even figure out what it was they saw. and real photographs.

The mystery of it does hold a certain lure about it all. But i would want to know of they were found to exist just to really try to understand why it took so long to uncover the mystery.

I would become more fascinated with a cryptid if it were to be discovered. cool.gif

If a cryptid is discovered it becomes just a normal animal. Normal zoology isn't any fun.
man_in_mudboots
the interest for me in cryptozoology is not that the animal is undiscovered, its that its so strange. most of these cryptids are like nothing else on earth. thats why very few folks care about an undiscovered species of spider. if a chupa was discovered and it actually looked like its supposed to and not like something other than a stray dog, id still like it.

The whole piont of this forum is to prove that these thing exist or that they don't exist. i Just want somone to discover chupa so i can Say I told you So

i agree with mr mudboots for the most part. If bigfoot was found today and tomorrow i saw him at the zoo he wouldnt be just some animal he would still be bigfoot, just real. But if u dont agree then....... your still cukoo! laugh.gif j/k!

Well I for one would find the discovery of a chupa very good as it would put all us skeptics in our place once and for all tee hee.

Plus it would be much more interesting to learn more about these animals... I think animals that we know of now are interesting so why wouldnt a chupa be if it was suddenly discovered?

Plus chupas are in the zoos, in the form of lions and such. Plus you can get them from your local pet store under the name of dogs and cats! grin2.gif

BEWARE THE DANCING CHUPA

I definitely WANT cryptids to become discovered. The discovery of cryptids is what keeps the hope alive. If so many other cryptids haven't been discovered (i.e. Okapi, Giant Panda, Komodo Dragon, etc.) there wouldn't be so much reason to believe that sighted animals can exist.
But when these sighted cryptids do finally get discovered, it helps prove that anything is possible. The mystery *is* nice, but thats all it is- a mystery.
I want facts. i want to KNOW that these creatures exist. When we discover them, not only do we prove that Cryptozoology is a valid science, but we also learn so much about these creatures that we could never know if they were never found.

Wow, that's actually an interesting thing to think about! I never thought about it. Now that I do though, I would much rather them stay hidden. If bigfoot or nessie was found I think I would loose interest. Although maybe not for nessie if it turns out to be a dinosaur. Thanks for the question.

I don't know about the other people that visit this site, but I visit it because I am interested in these animals. If they can't be proven to be alive now, and we're still coming here. You better believe if they were proven to exist, that this place would be flooded with posts.

Well, put it this way. 50 years ago the Giant Squid was a cryptid sea monster from legends of sailors out at sea.
Now it is genuinely accepted by science and we've got a bunch of carcasses to show it's existance. We know it exists, but we know not much about it. I for one am HUGELY interested in the Giant Squid.
I'm sure it would be the ame way if a Nessie carcass washed up.
ames2787
Surely the tourist trade in Scotland would increase if people thought they were definitely going to see Nessie as it's existence had been proved, so for them it can only be a good thing.

For the rest of us it would also be very interesting to learn more about the creature, so I think they would be better discovered than left to people to make up wrong facts about them in the name of a good mystery!

I think if these creatures were proven, there would still be a ton of unknown creatures out there....
Deimos
Yeah but think about it, imagine seeing a bigfoot or a Mokele-Mbemve on the discovery channel, or in a zoo? I thinik that the discovery of a cryptid such as these would be an event of a lifetime.

The reason we are so interested in them is because we want to learn and study them, and everyone wants to find, see or capture an undiscovered creature.
