Anyone here have any opinions on the curse of Tutankhamun's tomb?
I'm currently working on a section for my website about it and wonder what the general consensus about the curse is!
Regards,
Ames

P.s. if anyone needs info on what the curse is lemme know and I'll give you some basic details

I will get you some information strait away.
What I know off the spot is, it is believed by scientists that the curse was just a communicable illness that had stayed alive inside the tomb and infected a few of the workmen.

I'm talking more about the curse supposedly found on the entrance to the tomb, and the whole Carnarvon thing dying and his dog dying at the same time
And mustnt forget the art gallery worker who was killed by a car after doing some dealings about Tut

I'll have to look it up, but frankly, the curse was a deliberate hoax set for the specific purpose of keeping the more light-fingered help from running off with some of the goods in the grave. While I haven't done any sort of research on the subject, I am confident that a minimal amount will reveal no connection between the dog and Carnavon's death, nor any significant link between the art worker (who I guarantee had dealt with "cursed" items before) and whatever artwork he was dealing with in the weeks prior to his death.

Yes, I don't believe it either, but my site isn't stating such things to be fact.
It gives people the facts of the situation, some theories, some opinions from other people and lets readers view it and decide for themselves.
If you check it out you will see what I mean

Whatever you do, don't go mentiioning that stuff that it was put on the Titanic and it now rests at the bottom of the ocean and it was the curse that sunk it.
That's obviously retarded.

Burnside if I see that referenced I will put it in, but most probably in a sarcastic tone. Nice to put all the opinions together just so people can read it and see what they think

I could put that thing on the Titanic page though tee hee, nah I'm not gonna do that I think thats one good as it is

I've just thought, how can the Titanic be related, it sunk in 1912, tut's tomb opened in 1922....
do you have any more details about how it relates?
Thanks, Ames

No, i just know that alot of people say stuff like 'tuts body was on the titanic!' i've seen it on this site, that's just dumb. For the reason you said, and of course because we HAVE the body and we know where it is lol.
Maybe put it in a rumour control section.

Hmmm, after thinking it through, definitely a dumb idea, how it could have escaped a sealed tomb, jumped aboard the titanic, sank it, jumped back into its tomb is remarkable tee hee.

The Curse of King Tut's tomb was a direct result of mold. I had seen this on a special on History International and had done a little research some time back.

King tut died suddenly as we all know, he was in fact murdered. The tomb he was bured in was not his but that of some high priest of some sorts. Because of the sudden death they had little time to prepare his new tomb and when that sealed it it didn't have time to dry out, so after 3000-4000 years the mosture in there is gonna be pretty bad for you if you breath it in me thinks

Hey, it's coming on great.
I've been away for the weekend at the v festival... it rocked btw lol,
anyway, today I've added a new mystery in the form of Titanic and I'm currently working on tut's curse, should be ready for if it wins at the end of the week, although it does look like the man in the iron mask is going to win as it was quite close between that and Titanic this week

Sounds good.

You should add a hit counter to the main page, and maybe add a drop-down menu for the archived mysteries cause the way things are going you're gonna have TONS and it may get abit cluttered on the main page.
ames2787
Aug 23 2004, 01:28 PM
Yeh, I was thinking of doing that as soon as it starts to get cluttered, which will probably be next week when the new mystery gets added!
I can't seem to get round to doing the site at the moment though, I'm listening to songs from the festival and reminiscing lol.... but I will do it in a moment, don't wanna let down the fans, tee hee, not there are many lol

I would like to take you up on your offer.
Do you know where I could find any information on various theories as to what the curse, and more stuff relating to just that.
I've searched on google, and I've found a couple of good sites, but nothing particularly special, plus if i search for theories and tutankhamun i get a lot about the theory behind his death lol.
Any info would be much appreciated!

I must complement you as well though. You are the first skeptical god or goddess of upitty annoyance that hasn't made an attemt to rip my throat out, or kill me in some other sort of slow and painfull way.
Thanks for being patient with my gullibility. you're a skeptic with an open mind and I admire that.

i thought there was no curse, i thought the people died because of poisonous spores that were inside the tomb, and when they opened it they breathed them in...or something like that...

Ya I saw that on a TV Programme. Some fungus that lives in the old bandages- when people breathe it in in a small space it can be deadly and causes respiratory problems. I think it was first Identified in the 90s in a Polish Cathedral when 5 renovators died from it

after working in a crpyt. The fungus sounds like streyptoccous micene.
Hope that helps!
P.S have you also heard that Tuts tomb was already opened? Some people say Howard carter was helping himself to stuff. He painted a false panel to hide the real entrance tunnel when the 'tomb' was officially found. Thats why the chariot got in there when the entrance is too small for it- they had to cut it up to get it out

Tuts curse is nothing more than his name. Tut...
I mean, I would certanly consider it to be a curse if my mom
would have named me Tut, cuz all the kids at school would
make fun of me! Just think of how many names people would
call me:
Tut-nut
Tit-tut
Nut-tut
and so on..
.....
It would be terrible! We can't blame Tut though
since its his mother's fault!
