Shadow People are often seen and yet no one seems to know what they are!
If you've read any of my previous posts, you might know that I'm a News Reporter, but that's my day job. I also work the graveyard shift as Police Officer. Ya know, reporting The News by day, and being a part of The News by night. But it's what I enjoy doing.
During my Nightly Patrols through The City Streets, I OFTEN see Shadow Creatures, and many times I see them straight on,,,NOT just out of the corners of my eyes like you might think. They sort of have humanoid features, but they're dark and shadowy. They move gracefully, almost as if they're floating, they don't lumber about like some swamp beast. I've researched these sightings quite extensively and they are reported from ALL CORNERS of The Earth. People that see them are often people without previous supernatural experiences and they usually just pass them off as just figments of the imagination.
However, I see them VERY frequently, practically during every Patrol Shift, sometimes numerous times per night. I've spoken to OTHER Officers who tell me that they see Shadow Creatures too. Some say that they have seen Shadow Animals too. I have personally NEVER seen a Shadow Animal, but I hope to. (Many Officers ALSO report seeing actual ghosts frequently, but thats another topic for another day.)
To off-set any snide remarks, our eyes are fine, (we are required to undergo regular eye exams,) we're NOT overly tired, (we are accustomed to working during the "wee hours," and we're used to what we do and are highly trained for what we do,) it's NOT mass histeria, (We have more than enough REAL THINGS to worry about to have the need to conjour up something that doesn't exists and has little or no consistancy, it's NOT drugs, (we are drug tested on an average of once per week-not only will our department fire us for a dirty drug screen, they'll also prosecute ANY Officer caught with a Dirty Test, IF THEY CAN PRODUCE GROUNDS AND EVIDENCE OTHER THAN JUST A DIRTY SCREENING.[/B] That Alone IS NOT Enough to prosecute someone on Drug Charges, but They'll investigate us to "The Gills," NONE of us WANTS to lose our jobs, and NONE of us want to go be prosecuted,,,do you know what they do to Cops that wind up behind bars? It isn't pretty! ) To get back on subject, it's NOT tricks of the mind NOR insanity either, (we undergo routine Psychological Exams.)
However, the cases of Shadow Being Sightings are too widely documented to be any of these things, and I don't mean simply among Law Enforcement Officers and Emergency Workers, nor just in my local area, I mean in The World At Large. I'd venture to say that some 70% of ALL people have seen some manifestation of a Shadow Creature at least once in their lives.

I am very interested in what YOU think these sightings might be...
Are they;
-Ghosts?
-Another form of Spiritual Entity, perhaps Demons or Angels?
-Interdimensional Travelers?
-Extraterrestrails?
-An Unknown Earth Creature?
-Do They Appear When "The Present" Crosses Time Boundaries With Past Or Future Events?
Perhaps you have a totally different hypothesis,,,I would like to know what you believe causes these apparitions. I'd also like to know if you've ever seen a Shadow Creature either front-on OR out of the corners of your eyes. What did you see? How long did the apparition last?
I am interested in what other's see when they see these things, people that ARE NOT Cops, Firefighters, Paramedics, Nurses, Soldiers In War Zones or Security Offficers. What I have found is that gender makes no difference in this phenomenon. Just as many women as men see these things. Religious Beliefs or Affilliations makes no difference either, nor does Age or Ethnicity.
I'm looking into the possibility that in these high-stress jobs, on which so many people see these entities on a VERY REGULAR BASIS, WE are more susceptible than other people to seeing them.
I theorize that Shadow Creatures become visible in some sort of Psychic or Geo/Electromagnetic Disturbances, like ghosts do, but NOT EVERYONE can see them each time they appear. I suggest that due to the nature of OUR jobs, WE see them because WE are on a CONSTANT Emotional Roller Coaster. We go from absolutely boredom to life-threatenning danger and back again in nano-seconds, and we do this multiple times during every shift. Perhaps this is responsible for opening our "third eyes," allowing us to see these things more readily than ordinary people, thus more frequently. Does adrenaline effect psychic abilities? Normally, people who work these same hours, but are not faced with life and death situations and emotional roller coasters see these things much less often,,,many people I've asked claim that they rarely see anything out of the ordinary. For example, I questioned several people who drive Taxicabs and they told me that they don't necessarily see these things while on their jobs. Although a significant number of Cabbies say that they have seen Shadow Beings at some point in their lives, they claimed that they don't routinely see them while working like we do. The same thing goes for Sanitation Workers, City Bus Drivers, Convience Store Clerks, Waitresses, Overnight Disc Jockies, Television Studio Technicians and other's who work The Graveyard Shift, but do not face high stress situations as a normal part of their workdays.
Whats your opinion? If you've seen Shadow Creatures, how often do you see them, and what are the circumstances surrounding your sightings?
Are you under stress or fear when you see them or are you in a relaxed state?
Do you see them more often at home or at work or in other locations?
Your input is very important to me, and what you tell me MAY help people out there that are working for you, to help you and your loved-ones and to keep everyone safe. People who put their lives on the line to Protect, Serve and save Lives and Property. Some people have issues with seeing these things, I don't, I find it ALL intriquing. But I am doing this out of a desire to offer something in the way of answers to those people that are bothered by these entities. I am also just personally interested in this subject.

i think ill go do some research myself.

i know my cuz has claimed to see a dark shawow in humanoid form once. she believed in was a ghost. she is my best friend y'know so i believe that she atleast really believed it happened herself. she told me that while she watched it move from the window and through the door she was completely paralyzed and could do nothing but watch it.

i have seen black/shadowy shapes before but they were more than likely figments of my extremely over-active imagination.

but like i said it is an interesting subject nonetheless, if you're willing to keep an open mind.

I'm new to the board, posted a few already.

I want to start out by saying, I personaly have not encountered Shadow people. I how ever have friends and know of people who have encountered them.

At first I thought, they were encounting a spirit. I am very sensitive to the spirit realm. These people told me no, that shadow people if you will, have like a dark netting over their face, there are no facial features at all. Once they realize you see them, they will dart behind something.

I've had 1 person telling me they are all over. You can see them in trees. behind garbage cans, everywhere.

Shadow people fascinate me. I know there are no bounderies in the next realm, I also know, that there are many realms or levels.

Now, I put tv shows & movies to the writer's imagination. There was a show on tv years ago, called, Are You Afraid of The Dark. This one episode, showed these kids put on x ray vision novelty glasses, they caught a glimpse of what appeared to be shadow people. Again, the writer extended it, to make it worth watching.

This show had me thinking, if the Shadow people are from another realm, which, I have come to believe with out personal experience. They too can cross the line, between the physical plane from thiers. Those of us, who are sensitive to that realm, can see and pick them up. I say that realm, cause, I came to believe people, who had the experiences, know, they aren't from the spirit realm, which I am sensitive too.

Anakim: I have seen Shadow People pass just a few feet in front of and to the sides of my Patrol Car.


Ghostly: I remember "Are You Afraid Of The Dark," VERY WELL! Not only did my girls like it and used to watch it, but I know Vanessa Lengies' Father as well. He's a Pilot, a former Canadian Air Force Fighter Pilot, and I'm a Private Airplane Pilot. I met Him and Vanessa at The Burbank Airport back in The Early '90's. I started talking with Him because He was wearing His' Canadian Air Force Flight Jacket, and I've ALWAYS been "geeked" by Fighter Planes. To this day, we see each other and talk from time to time at The Airport when he flies in to town. He lives in Canada, of course, but Vanessa has a place here in The Los Angeles area. He flies in occassionally to see Her I suppose.
I do not remember the specific episode of The Series that you mentioned, but it does sound as though they were "seeing" Shadow Creatures on that show. Thats a cool thing!
Interestingly enough, these Entities that I see DO INDEED often move behind objects, I don't remember ever seeing one just Vanish into thin air, or fly away or anything like that. I am actually SO accustomed to seeing these things that I often just drive off and leave doing whatever it is that they are doing.

I am NOT ordinarily "A Sensitive" to Spirits, I am, however, VERY Precognative. I am the first male in my family in OVER 100 Years to have this ability, (Lucky Me!, ) These abilities have been passed down through the females in my line for centuries, but rarely to us men. I kind of think that maybe this was passed to me becasue I was an only-child. I was the ONLY WAY for this to be passed on to the "future girls" of the family, so I was slammed with this thing! Both of my daughter's are VERY Precognitive and have been since they were toddlers. We're just a whacky family that way I suppose. My mother seemed to be much more sensitive to SPIRITS than I am. She spooked me sometimes.
Regardless of the nature of my Night Job, I am a very developed Empath. It doesn't get in the way of my work though! Presumably I have figured out a way to cut my "Empathy" off when I am working as a Police Officer. However,,,it's odd-while I'm working my job as a Reporter, I can "feel" EVERYONE'S feelings! It's almost debilitaing sometimes, and it get on my nerves like you wouldn't believe!!! Like I said, "Lucky Me!"

I have NEVER felt Paralized when I see these things, and I've personally never heard of anyone else feeling that way when they're in the vicinity of Shadow People. As for your Imagination,,it might NOT be so overly active. I know alot of Officers and others that have tried to pass these apparitions off as figments of their imaginations,,,that is until they saw them over and over again.

My GF who saw it disapear, was lying in her bed, she wasn't feeling well. She looked up, saw it standing there in front of a window. She said she was able to look at if for a few seconds longer then usual. When it realized she was staring at it, it went behind her dresser & disapeared.

Has any patrol cars picked up shadow people on their cameras? If they did, would you be able to get a edited edition of the scene, that only shows the shadow person?

Every person I know, that has true psychic abilities, has empathy. Empathy as you know is picking up other people's emotions. You might find that you have spiritual healing abilities. I find empaths, when in control of that ability, makes strong healers.

I can see how you wouldn't want to use that ability at your night job. I do disaster recovery work. The first major disaster was a plane a crash. I was overwhelmed, I didn't have it under control at that time, as much as I thought I did. I've gotten better through the years, on controling it.

For those of us, who acknowledge psychic abilities, we may have several different abilities, one ability will be stronger then the others, sounds like yours is precognition. I do have several abilities also, I am more comfortable dealing with the spirit realm, that I have developed that ability to a higher vibration.

Ghostly, NO "Shadow Boogers" have been picked up on any car cams to my knowledge. In my patrol car, and in ALL patrol cars in our dept., the cam is only activated when the officer turns the blue-light bar on. As far as I know, there has never been any shadow ppl recorded by the car cams., but thats an interesting thought.
Come to think of it, I've NEVER seen a Shadow Creature in the area near police activity, such as around a situation where the light bars would be turned on. This would seem to be normal for them, you know, with their hide and seek game that they play. They seem to be shy, not wanting to be seen. I would assume that they would avoid all situations where there's obviously people around, like a place where blue lights are flashing.

It's interesting to me that your friend was feeling ill when she saw the shadow creature in her' bedroom. Often times when one isn't feeling well, they are in an altered state of consciousness. This might have attributed to the fact that she was able to see the entity a bit longer than normal, OR that she saw it at all. I believe that those of us who face these high-stress jobs reach a level of an altered state of consciousness too. This just might be a contributing factor to our ability to see these things so often.

Back about a hundred years ago, OR so it seems, I worked as a Part-Time Paramedic here in Los Angeles County. In the beginning, being an Empath REALLY WAS a MAJOR Pain in 'The Gluteus Maximus." I "felt" EVERYTHING!!!:wacko: I suppose that I truly learned to supress my Empathy then. (It was either THAT, or chunk that job, and the two years of schooling to get THAT job into the dumpster.) I was also a U.S. Soldier, I was sent to both The Grenada Invasion, and The Panama Invasion BEFORE I ever thought of becoming a Paramedic OR a Cop. Ironically, I never had any Empathic Problems while I was in battles as a Combatant. Go figure (???)
I don't know if I have Spiritual Healing abilities or not, to tell you the truth. I have never tried it. But I can tell you that people CONSTANTLY seek me out to talk to when they are facing personal difficulties. They always say that I help them alot. I always figured that I am just a good listener, and I have the ability to sort through problems and find solutions. (I am not sure if that is "pyschic" or just common sense.) I can certainly relate to your problems working as a Disaster Recovery Worker. Whatsmore, Plane Crashes are particularly mentally traumatic, and thats for someone who ISN'T an Empath. It does indeed take time to control it, and alot of energy too.
Yes, I am a Precognitive! I can tell you tales of precognition that'll curl your toenails. My youngest daughter has always been a particularly strong Precognitive. She used to curl MY toenails. One way that I have come to control the "Precognitive Flashes," as I call them, (thats the visions and vivid dreams, and so forth,) is that I focus my energies into dowsing using a Pendulum. I was taught this at a very early age and I am very good at using these. Fortunately, this doesn't stop the "Intuitive Feelings," or "Instinctual Gut Feelings," but the other things are more controled. When I have visions or vivid dreams, it's VERY DIFFICULT for me to function. These things just lay at the forefront of my mind and don't go away until their conclusion, (until whatever I've "seen" has actually happened. In BOTH of my jobs, I truly need to be able to function, OBVIOUSLY!
I am not very good with the spirit realm, as I stated in my other post here. At times, I truly wish that I had the capability. I mean, it would be SO GREAT to be able to communicate to my Parents again, for example. They DO play "starring roles" in my dreams though. This is an almost constant occurance. (Perhaps this is a form of Spiritual Contact, but I am more inclined to believe that it's my psychi STILL trying to deal with their deaths OR other unresolved issues, I'm not sure. These dreams are SO BIZARRE!)
My primary Spirituality is in my religion. I am Jewish, and having reached the age, just two years ago, to study Kabbalah, (Jewish Mysticism,) I am very into this at this time. It is the coolest thing I've ever studied. I have a past that I am NOT very proud of,,,I left my religion after the death of my Father, about 21 years ago, becasue I was angry with G-d. I went into Shamanism, followed by White Wicca. But then, in that turbulant tme in my life, with alot of rage, etc., I moved into VERY BLACK Majiks. Thankfully, I just woke up one day, and I was ready to return to Judaism. I feel ashamed of some of the things I during that time. (You know, each negative thing that you do comes with negitive consequenses. I'm still experiencing a few of those negative consequences. However, that YEARS in my past! I can't look back now, I must look ahead. However, I DO count that experience as a very valuable lesson.

Shadow Boogers . She has seen them through out her life, could be, because she wasn't feeling weel, the sighting lasted a bit longer. I was just curious if one was caught running on the camera.

Precognition I have also. I see a swirl of smist/smoke in the air, where there is none, that tells me a plane will be crashing. Now I don't see that smoke if I am working on the disaster.

I do however smell smoke about an hour before getting called out on a fire scene. Gives me time to preapre myself.

I also back in the 90's saw a train crash. I live in New York State, this was a train that derailed into a river, down in La. I believe it happened. I saw it on a Thursday, the following Tuesday the train derailed. I do forsee alot. I try to ignore that ability. Key word is Try.

Most empaths find they need big shoulders. Everyone comes to us. Have you ever been told you had a healing touch and or people felt energy through your touch? If yes, I'd say you are a healer. Also, if you felt energy leaving your hands, that is another sign. I can understand shutting down empathy in battle. Your instincs for survival sets in. Being I have never been in that situation, I wouldn't even attempt to explain that.

One of the more common way of communication from spirits, are through dreams. That is when our minds are more relaxed & we are opened to them. You are correct also. Dreams of passed loved ones or friends, are a step in the grief healing process. If you know spirits are trying to pass messages through to you, I may be able to help you develop that. Just remember 1 thing, they are people with out a body.

The spirit realm I can talk about 24/7. I am very comfortable with them. I talk to them, if they annoy me, I tell them off, oh and yes, they are very verbal, either through evp's or vocaly. They still make jump here or there. Especialy when it is 2am & I'm home alone, I think someone is in the house. If I called the cops everytime that happened. I would have the station move into my house. lol

I have Roman Catholic training. Being I grew up with my abilities, the Church & I saw things diferently. So I say I am a Spiritual person, with a deep Faith. My Faith grew from my experiences with the spirit realm, not churches or religions. I am now studying Books that were removed from the Bible. Have to say, alot of my experiences have been validated reading those Books. I'm always on a search, for I know my life's experiences are real. I do not debate them.

When we are young, we question, we rebel. The thing is we learn from our past, and remember the road we took, maybe help someone else, who is on that road now seeking help.

I have never seen anything like this since. I have always wondered what was that thing we saw when we were kids. It seems so illogical, but it happened. Maybe one day I will see it again, or maybe it all depends on your brain activity...during a specific environmental anomaly (ie strong electrical magnetic currents and/or maybe even plates shifting)

Earthygirl, I want to know more about this phenomenon as well,,,hence my starting this Thread. Perhaps we can ALL figure it out together!

Helios, There COULD BE some type of Atmospheric Anomalies, including Electromagnetic Variations OR Tetonic Activities. All I know is that these Entities are a common sight for us who work in Law Enforcement and Emergency Services, especially during the overnight shift. I have WAAAAAAY MORE questions than answers about Shadow Beings.

I made a post a while back on here about the shadow beings at my friends house. I now live at this location, and the shadows manifest regularly. Not only are there shadows, but there are also balls and spheres of light here. whether they are confined to the area around the house or not they only appear at a maximum of 100 yards away from it, and of course most frequently inside of it. In most manifestations only a few people (or nobody) will actually see them appear the the physical action they perform is always clear. My door kicks itself open at random every day. There is a shadow cat in my room, it meows and claws at the carpet.

I am so unsure at this point as to what these beings truly are at this point i am totally open to new ideas. The way you describe them move, very gracefully is how they move as well. They even disappear gracefully. All I do know is that my house has many shadow and light entities in and around it and that it is there. that is all. *over*

I think they're essentially fear vampires. Everything I've ever read and seen says people are afraid around them.

I've personally never seen one - but I'm pretty sure I've felt them. The house I use to live in had them until we chased them out. The lady who lived there went slowly insane, called the cops about shadowy figures, locked her self in the basement to get away from them (the fire department busted through the door,) and frequently saw dark shapes in the back yard.

We moved into the house and my GF immediatly started seeing them. She insisted that we leave a night light on in the hallway and she would watch them walk by, cast shadows and peek into our bedroom.

When ever I walked down the hallway especially, or was alone in the house I felt them. I'd suddenly be afraid and would work hard to fight the fear. Then I learned the trick of just saying out loud, "Go away and leave me alone!"

Eventually we got some sage and burned it through the whole house, that seems to have gotten rid of them. There is one spirit left in the house, but it's not like them, I think it's rather playful and likes to hide things. Usually when I'm in a hurry and need something now you can say "Give it back," walk out of the room then back in and it's appeared.

I am brand new here. I have seen these shadow people all the time. My question is how do you get them out of the house. I get the creeps now. its wigging me out totally and i am not the type to be scared but ackkk this is weird. please help!

I am sorry to say that I don't know how to shew Shadow People out of a house. I am not certain that these things are true ghosts, and I really don't believe that they are Demons, they seem to me to be something else, but I can only guess what they are, but they may not exocise like an ordinary spiritual being.

You can possibly find some help with this if you contact a Minister, Priest, Rabbi, Emman, Psychic Exocist or perhaps a Wiccan with experience and training in exocism to help you eliminate these "critters" from your home. Choose the expert from my list that shares your beliefs, if possible. For Example; if you are a Protestant Christian, seek help from a Protestant Minister,,,if you're Jewish like me, then you'd speak to a Rabbi, etc.

Here is a bit of good news for you, Girl...To my knowledge there's NEVER been a human has been harmed by a TRUE Shadow Creature. They actually seem to be shy of people and seem to try to hide from them.

One final suggestion is that you may see these things due to your own advanced psychic powers. If that's the case then you may be an extremely gifted young lady and you might do everything that you can to advance these gifts.

I hope that these suggestions help you and I hope that you'll keep me posted about how this turns out for you.

What you're writing it's very interesting for me.
I had several episodes of me seeing shadows! (read my experiences below)
That's my 2 major episodes. But I saw shadows also during my days or night, but not as clear, it was like I saw a shadow in my corner of eyes.

My experiences:

I want to share with you what happened to me several years ago.
Here's what happened: in 1999 my grandma (90 yo) was ill. She was ill from long time, several months. That evening I watched TV on livingroom, then I went to the kitchen and here I saw a white figure in front of me. I screamed and returned into the livingroom. My friend went also to the kitchen but saw nothing.
Next day my mother tell me that she also saw a white figure going into her kitchen at the same hour. My grandma died 1 month after.

In 2002 I was in my friend's house and I saw a brief apparition of a white form, but very small. I noticed it but didn't scared me and I tell nothing at all.
The next month my friend's cat died.

Personally I don't know what they are. I think some sort of ghosts or entity.

hi and thanks for the quick response. This is really strange though. I have always seen "things" to my knowledge I chalk it up to my relatives that recently died and visit usually my little son. i welcome them or anything that wanders around. I've never been scared though until this incident.

In my old house I saw something similar to what I see in this new house but it did not scare me because I believed it was my aunt who just passed and was looking at my new car that she knew i would buy. It also was transparent but looked human not black. weird.

In this "new house" I only see them in my bedroom. OF course i see out of the corner of my eyes throughout the house but in my room I see this head on as a person walking towards me. I saw it and it tried to hide (looked like it anyway) It backed itself up against my closet door but I could still see it until i got scared and put the light on. I actually thought it was a person in my home and i did a thorough search of the house. Of course nothing was here.

I am Jewish also and Id think my rabbi would think i lost my mind?? I am scared of these things i guess because I don't know what they are. I now sleep with my closet light on like a big baby. Seriously I am never scared of anything but I wonder why I am of this?

I also wonder if these could be my relatives who just learned how to do this trick. lol I don't know Im confused about the entire ordeal. I just had a friend here the other night and he saw one walk across my TV screen in my bedroom. Thank god Im not crazy!

[B]Hi Dave, reading your first post, which was very interesting and well thought out by the way, I'd thought I'd answer some of your questions. I have seen many shadow people...or perhaps it's the same one that keeps returning, you can never be sure...
Anyways, I'd thought I'd let you know, I don't have a stressful job, I clean houses so it's not exactly brain surgery lol (although I could tell you horror stories of what people do to their bathrooms! ) and in any case I don't see them where I work. I'm sixteen years old and very level headed, although I do find things of the paranormal fascinating!
Before the incident I'm about to tell you, I've seen a few shadow people here and there around the house, but now I see them almost every day in the same place, my room. It was one night a month ago that I sat down on the floor in my room to play my tarot cards (yes I play tarot cards but I'm not a loony I swear! I find them quite informative.) I didn't think anything of it, and it just so happens I sat in front of my full length mirror. I was going about my business unraveling the cloth I keep the cards in and preparing to shuffle them when something in my head said "don't cut the deck, don't play don't play, don't play" I suddenly felt a sense of forboding and saw a scenario in my head, or maybe it was a vision, where a dark shape stepped through my mirror and across the room. I froze in mid shuffle, thinking about what I had seen, when I casually looked up into my mirror and saw a shadowy mass standing a little ways behind me. I looked back down at the floor in denial, 'I didn't just see that' I kept saying in my head. When I looked up again into the mirror in was still there. It was at that point I quickly and quietly packed up the cards and left the room.
Since then I have seen shadow people through my mirror or just in peripheral vision in my room. Like I said I see this almost every day and I'm just wondering why it's there and what it wants. Since then I have not had that forboding feeling and calmly take it as it is, another siteing. At the risk of sounding amazingly corny or crazy, after doing some research, I think that perhaps I had unknowingly opened up something. As I learned later mirrors are supposedly supernatural doorways into this world. I hope this has helped you and not too many people think I'm off my rocker. What cha think?

Barb, I am glad that you are interested in this topic. There seems to be a lot of interest in these entitites.

It's most common to see Shadow People out of the corners of your eyes. Some people say that you see into the physical world looking straight ahead, but you see into the spirit world from the corners of the eyes. However, because of this, many people believe that they're just imaging things when in fact they are seeing Shadow Entities.



I don't exactly know what these things are either, Barb, but I don't believe that they are typical Ghosts, (like Human/Animals Spirits,) nor do I believe that they are Demonic or necessarily evil.

However, Shadow Beings are typically black or dark in appearance, but you described these apparitions that you saw as being white in color and both times they preceeded deaths that effected you personally. That makes me wonder wheather or not that you saw Shadow Creatures or some other spiritual entity, possibly one that foretells death. Perhaps you're one who is sensitive to spiritual activities surrounding deaths.

Most every culture around the world has traditions concerning spiritual foretellers of death.

For example; in the Irish custom the Banshee appears to foretell of deaths. In many modern Christian cultures, the Death Angel sometimes appears before a death actually occurs, and in many Native American ("Indian,") and Tribal African Cultures, the sightings of various animals and/or natural occurances are omens of death.

I'm not saying that this is what you have been seeing, but it causes me to pause and think of this as a distinct possiblility. Let me know what you think about my assessment and keep me posted on any Shadow People or other spiritual encounters that you might have.

ROFL!!! Ironically, I had a feeling that you were Jewish which is why I mentioned that I'm Jewish, spooky huh? Obviously my "jew-dar" is still working properly. ROFL!

I really can't give a definative answer as to why these things are scaring you so badly. Yet, there's nothing wrong with a little light on in the closet. You're not a baby though, trust me! Well, you're not a baby unless you wake up every three hours and cry... ROFL!!! (Just a little of our Jewish Schtick for you...)



There's always the posssibiliy that your relatives have in fact just learned a new trick. LOL! (Hey, you do good schtick too!) But seriously, it is not that unusual for others to see such entites too. The fact that your friend saw one of these apparitions in your home seems to varify that you do in fact have something supernatural going on there.



We seem to be having a run on non-black Shadow People these days. LOL! The fact that you were not frightened by this sighting leads me to think that this might have been the true ghost of someone that you knew in life, very possibly it was indeed your Aunt.

Wheather or not these other entities are Shadow People, ghostly apparitions or evil spirits, I can't say for sure, but I would like to suggest that if you feel fear of these things then perhaps you should trust your feelings.

I have never been fearful of any of the Shadow People that I have encountered, I have mostly just felt couriosity about them. If I saw an apparition that frightened me then I believe that I'd launch myself into repeating the Adon Olam, the Tehillim 23, the Sh'ma, the Kaddish, all of the Baruchas, (wheather I needed them or not,) and every other prayer that I could think of in that moment.

I am sorry, but I am not an expert on this, in fact I am in an entirely different universe from the experts in the field of developing your psychic abilities. However, I know that there are people here in this forum that are experts and would be more than happy to help you in this area. You might also do a "google" on "Developing Psychic Abilities" (or some variation of this,) I'm sure that there are a gadzillion awesome websites out there devoted to this topic.

I have some intuitive gifts, but I have never tried to develope them further. They do seem to run in my family. Both of my daughters are amazingly accurate when foretelling future events, they are very perceptive and intuitive. My Mother and Maternal Grandmother were also very gifted people. No, you can never be completely sure. However. in my case I am convinced that I have seen many different Shadow Creatures. The reason that I am so sure of this is that I have seen various sized, toned and textured Ones, and I've seen them in many locations around The City.

This is an EXTREMELY fascinating case, Sofia. As I stated in my response to girliiigirl, you should ALWAYS trust your own feeliings and instincts. I won't "dis" you for playing Tarots as much as I might if you were playing Ouijas. (I am totally against Ouijas, I believe that inexperienced people that buy those things in the toy department and screw around with them, open portals to evil and that they are extremely dangerous.) I used to play Tarots myself and in fact I still have two decks in my house, eventhough I no longer use them. There are people who will disagree with me and say that you can get into just as much trouble with Tarots as with Ouijas, but I certainly do not believe that to be the case. I personally had a bad experience after messing with a Ouija Board and I burned it and buried the ashes.
However, you CAN manage to open portals to evil entities with Tarots too and I'll address this more below. Nevertheless, you sound as though that you are experienced with Tarots and thus, you're not as likely to make the mistakes that dabblers do...In fact, you seem to be very wise and experienced in life, are you sure you're just 16? You sound more like you're 60. LOL!



Yes, you may have opened a doorway, as I stated above, it's not impossible to do so with Tarots, and besides, you're right, mirrors are said to be portals to the other side and vise versa. It's very difficult to speculate what might have happened that night when you had the vision and then felt the forbodingness. Possibly you simple had a premonition that you were going to be seeing Shadow Creatures, but then again you could have opened a gateway. It's possible that this entity is causing you to not fear it, a kind of oppression. I urge you to be extremely cautious, but as I have said, trust your feelings. Even if this is not a true Shadow Person, but is an malevolent spirit, you should still be able to get assertain accurate feelings about whats going on around you, but you may have to seek the truth deep inside yourself.

In all honestly, it does worry me that you had the initial vision and the message not to cut the cards and the forboding feeling on the first night, but then you simply accepted the subsequent apparititons as though they were normal. You almost seem too relaxed about it. It sounds as if your feelings changed TOO FAST!

Unfortunately, I am just a middle-aged Jewish dude, (who also studies Jewish Kabbalah, {Jewish Mysticism,}) and who happens to have had some experiences with Shadow Creatures and some other things. Aside from this, I only have an interest in the supernatural and I have done some research in many areas of this field. However, I am not an expert and therefore I can only offer a few guesses and opinions as well as bits and pieces of some of the knowledge that I have aquired, and an occassional intuitive insight.

I actually do have an explanation for that, on my mothers side there has been a history of people having certain "sensitivities" that stems from one great great aunt or so on who was physchic, so people in my family see it as an interesting subject. They swap stories about their experiances and take what they saw for what it is. Whether its warnings or just seeing a loved one come through to say "hey I'm here, I'm watching over you" yada yada yada. So I guess it's just that I've lived in an environment that's taught me if you see something or hear something, aknowledge it, question it if you think theres something to it, talk to someone if you need to or just want to, but ultimatly go about your business and take it in stride. Also stuff like this has been happening to me since I was little. Thinking back that could be why I was always a twitchy little kid. lol. Does that make sense or am I babbling?

How can you do this? I've been playing them for several years now and I've never heard of that, I've heard that tarot can help open up your physchic abilities, I've heard they can help guide and or focus you on your lifes path but not anything of a sinister nature...in fact it does come around when I'm playing my deck (although not in front of the mirror anymore!) Maybe that's why it pops up alot more? In theory my "eyeballs" are a little more open to it then? Or maybe it's attracted to the cards but if so why? Quick story for you because I need to get to bed before I fall offa the chair!

I was at my parents the other day laying on my moms bed telling her about this shadow person in my house.

Long story short (cuz its long) as we are speaking her candelabra over the night table flickers and a bulb goes out (or so we thought) about 20 secs later the bulb has life again, then off, then on for the duration of my story. (my mom knows about all the weird stuff i've seen and believes it all) When I was done with the story the bulb was back on and is still lit. weird...

Anyway, i get done with the story and I walk in the hall and right next to me a teeny tiny little baby orb goes flying right next to me, like it was actually walking with me then poof was gone. I yell out what the heck was that??? ya think anyone else saw this. nope!

I have pictures of orbs all around my little son at halloween time and the aunt that I have been speaking about had just died. She was to go halloweening with us because my X-husband had to work that night.
I believe she did end up going trick or treating with him after all. I also took pics of him at school parade. Out of all those kids only his head was lit up with orbs. Pretty weird huh? They were very close and he was only 5 at the time of her death.

Things go on all the time with us and what i think are my relatives. My son and I seem to be the only ones in the family who can see these things.

I believe I have three relatives that visit all the time. I have many more stories for you but Im to tired to get into them now as well as replying to your latest post. I will tomorrow though. To much reading to do!

Hello, i am new here also!

Just browsing the forums here for the first time this morning, i came across this thread of David's and thought "holy $#!* i've seen one of these shadow people before"...so allow me to tell my story.

A couple of weeks ago i was sleeping over at my boyfriend's. He has a small granny-flat type house up the back of his parents backyard. I had gone to bed earlier and he was still down in the main house watching tv or something, i forget.

Anyways he finally came up to go to bed too, and I woke up grumbling about how he's too loud when i'm trying to sleep he got into bed and everything was normal at that stage.

A couple of minutes later i rolled over so i was facing the room instead of the wall as i lay in bed, and i saw what i thought was the shadow of his younger brother sneaking around trying to scare us , in the middle of the room . It was quite a light night, and i could clearly see the black shape of a person/person shaped thing. It appeared to be just skulking around like it was trying to be stealthy.

I was kind of surprised at this, so i turned to my boyfriend and shoved him, asking why Nick (his bro) had come up here with him. He grumbled that he hadnt, or something to that effect. So i said out loud "Nick, what are you doing up here?". At this stage the black shadow thing was still lurking there, and i just thought it was his bro being a fool. I thought maybe because i was still a bit groggy from being woken up, I was dreaming or half asleep or something. So i blinked a few times and tried really hard to focus, pinched myself, but this silent black form still remained.

So i hastily reached for the lightswitch next to the bed, and as soon as the light came on there was NOTHING there.

OOOOOooooh.

Until I read this thread i thought it was my imagination or some form of awake dreaming, but i swear i saw the black shadow thing clearly for about 30 seconds or so. I didnt see any facial features or anything, i didnt feel threatened, and it didnt go away immediately after i questioned it (thinking it was nick).

So, i still dont really know what it was but perhaps it indeed was a shadow person..i guess i'll never know for sure.

I think you're right about the spiritual foretellers of death, because I saw that entity only before a death. That scared me.
I saw also the shadow people but in my corner of eyes and are not related to death or anything, it just happen sometimes.

I see them all the time. I do not get the feeling of evil. I had one pass through me several years ago and it was refreshing. I was leaving a room when I realized I forgot something. I turned around quickly and saw something coming at me. I tried to stop and threw up my hands. It them seemed to pass through me. Very cool. A ffreind of mine thinks they are evil. I am not sure about this.

My youngest daughter sees them also. According to her they are very fast. She made that statement when she was about 5 years old.

Activity comes and goes. It has been very active the past few days.

That's an interesting story Stinger, it's funny I had a similar experience a year ago like your daughters. It happened one night as I was laying on the couch. Mind you the couch looks down a long hallway with two bedrooms on either side at the end. Think of it as a T. My parents bedroom was on the right and mine on the left. I was watching T.V, and I was in a place where your not awake or asleep, I had my eyes closed but it didn't seem like it, I saw everything clear as day, just like if my eyes were open. In fact I was watching one of those cow commercials, you know, about California cheese... when all of a sudden a black streak shot past my shoulder, flew down the hallway, and took a right into my parents bedroom. As the black streak went into the bedroom another one came out of it and came flying down the hall like a bat out of hell, it was at that point that I shot up and the streak disappeared. This did NOT feel like a dream. I mean I dream some really weird sh** but this defiantly wasn't a dream. I've never seen anything move that fast, ever.

I am very new to posting here, so please forgive me for any mistakes I may make. I read through the thread and had to add my thoughts to the discussion.

I am 41 years old in Northern California and for many, many years was visited by these things (or thing) in my home. This is something I never told anyone else, including my wife and I never heard of anyone else having the same kinds of encounters that I had.

The thing usually came late at night as a shadow - in a dark room it would be a deeper shadow in the darkness. On different occasions, my cat and dog reacted to the presence indicating that this was not something I was imagining, but rather something real and external to me. This thing began coming to my room from a pretty young age and "followed" me for years and years. It showed up maybe once a month, usually when I was alone, but came a few times when my wife was sleeping next to me.

My impression was always that it was a spiritual being of great anger (evil?). Someone posted above that they thought that these creatures were fear vampires and I can accept that as an explanation. When a visitation would occur, I would be terrified and it seemed to me that fear was what the creature wanted. I do have some sensitivity to ghosts and spirits and I think that this was what the shadow was attracted to. They are not ghosts, but rather, something else that exist in the spiritual realm - that is my opinion.

Location did not seem to be a barrier. I had encounters in various places that I lived and even when on vacation. Somehow it would find me.

In the end, I overcame my fear one night. I had resolved previously that next time the shadow came, I would force it to leave. The next time it came, I remember lying in bed for a long time very scared. I finally jumped out of bed and charged it, screaming and shouting for it to leave and never come back. As a Christian person, I invoked the name of the Lord and I believe that that did the trick. I have not had a visitation since.

That was maybe 7-8 years ago and I am glad that the shadow is gone.

I had never heard of shadow people b4 I went online so I dont really believe in it. Of course, I have heard many stories about ghosts throughout my family, I am a 1st Nation native from Canada, and I never heard of stories of Shadow ppl. Maybe someone can help me on this topic.

This just dredged many memories from my memory lake. I live in a house from the 1920's, by far the scariest house when its dark (according to compadres). let alone i live in New Jersey, scariest place imaginable. I digress from my point, the majority of the time im in the basment, where my comp is, a year or so back i would see black streaks outta the corners of my eyes, they varied. I told my rents, blamed my over active imagination, asked my bro, he called it a half baked scheme to get him to give me money. So i was on my own. I got out my sword, and was ready to do battle. Then i thought, lemme get a flashlight and look, i had my sword by my side, I searched. My basment is full of places to hide. I came to the computer desk, i heard a rustling, twas coming from the old dunkin donuts bag. With sword in hand, i approached, slowly. I grabbed the bag, ready to slay this beast, then out rolls....a....A...A!! oh god its a, Baby Possum. I do believe that the beast used the possum as a diverstion,he's out thier....

Interdimensional Travelers I believe they are. They are just stuck between our own domain, I heard a lot about this on Coast To Coast AM it was a great topic about shadow people, and EVP's.

Shadow people are interesting in deed. I think i saw one once on an investigation at first it just looked kinda like a nubus (egyptian god the one that looks like a dog) on the ceiling but then it started to move across the ceiling of the house. Three other people in the room saw the excact same thing and we sat there like wow did u just see that. Anyways my theory on shadow people is that some attach themselves or fallow people who have negative addictions like drugs and alcohol. As well as those who have abusive relationships and the alike. They seem to feed or gain more power by those who are afraid of them. But in the end i think its up to the person being bothered by one to stand up to it and face their own demons and overcome the vices that attracted it to them in the first place. Blessings,Jo

Anything I've ever read on the subject seems to point to these beings as beings that draw on negative energy. Perhaps that's why someone in your profession would see them more often....working with the street element. Some say they feed on death, so are drawn to negative energies in hopes there may be a death.

A few years ago I had a room mate who suffered with deep manic depression. When he went through one of these depressions he tended to pace back and forth and withdrew into himself. One evening my wife and I observed him pacing in the back room (Gym) She looked at him and asked me what that was on Bob’s (not real name) back? When I looked over, it appeared to be a black ape like figure hanging onto the back of his neck. He was walking back and forth as if there was an actual weight of this presents on him, I called out to Bob about 30 feet away, Are you OK Bob at first he did not respond so I got a little closer to him and asked again. He turned on me in anger and the thing on his back mimicked his expression he then stormed out of the house for the rest of the night.
He eventually sought help for his depression but it did not last long. The last we heard of him he had became a street person in another city.

Sorry to hear about your friend Irish. I had something simular attached to me yrs ago while going through depression and using drugs. It wasnt fun. However a shaman friend i knew helped me battle it by facing it and realizing it had no power over me. Blessings, Jo

What I see aren't really shadow people but they are shadows, both light and dark. They come in various forms from a spider shape to a more human shape. For me they are always large not human sized. They are sometimes as tall as trees. (I don't like spiders to begin with and to see one as tall as a tree creeps me out a bit.)

Most of the time they are simply on the move but sometimes they take notice of me. I've learned to talk to them, ask them what they want and to just leave me alone I don't want to fight. I don't have a highly stressful job, just frustrating sometimes.

Do you ever see anything larger then human size or shape?

Hello I have been seeing shadow people and animals for a long time now. Some have been intense and some have been subtle. None have been threatening or "physical". Although they do startle me at times, and I get sad or other emotions from them. Usually they show up prior to a death day or night. Most of the time they are some-one I know/knew or associated with some-one I know/knew. I recently saw 3 all at the same time, one was very small and just "zipped" by. I usually get a feeling of male/female and I tend to have a feeling of familiarity, but with this one I had none of this. It also felt "carefree"? I learned a few weeks later that my brothers wife had been expecting a baby but had had a miscarriage, she was only 18 weeks into term. My sisters husband lost his grand father the same week, I don't know about the third one. (hope it's not me!!! sorry have to joke about it sometimes) I am starting to get a little creeped out though because first of all I don't want to have advance notice if some one is going to die. I would like to know why it seems to happen 2 weeks prior to someone passing. And why I see them. I only know of one other person whom told me he saw them also. We tried to compare ourselves to one another but we had no more in common than just being insomniacs and human. I went through a terrible tradgedy when I was 2 (I was in a house fire and came close to dying) Maybe this has something to do with it but my friend never went through anything tragic that he knows about. Are these shadows just "back-tracking" through people and places they knew. Or is the shadow tracking these people? Before my dog died I saw my other dogs shadow that had already passed away. Maybe she came to guide him?? I have had other weird encounters one was a scary whisper that told me to get inside after I went out to see why my dog was barking (I went inside, quickly) that scared me! The other was I woke up suddenly and the wall looked like it had the reflection of fire on it, I jumped out of bed and went for the door and saw a "fire" person I wasn't really afraid after I saw it but I didn't sleep the rest of the night. Wondering if any-one else has ever seen a fire person? (maybe due to the fact I was in a fire once!? Guess thats why we call it unexplained. Also thanks for reading and sharing. ccartist

I'm not sure if this is the right topic for this, but I've also had a few sightings of "shadow people" as well. I don't believe they're inherantly evil or negative, but they do seem to feed off of negativity. I can only speak from my own experience on that one, although I've been seeing "shadow people" since I was about 7 or 8 years old, and I feel they were connected in some way to my very difficult childhood (who doesn't have a difficult childhood). I've spent most of my spare time since an incident in '93, trying to understand and learn more. I know the story I'm about tell is probably a little hard to believe for some, but it happened and to this day I recall it fairly clearly, as if it had happened only a few nights ago.

In the summer of '93 (June, I think it was) I was "bitten", which is the only term I can think of to use to describe it, by a large shadowy insect (about the size of a house cat or small dog, as I recall) when I was 10 years old. I was staying with my parents at a relative's house (as we were homeless that summer for a few months, which I don't think was related to the incident, considering I had also seen darting shadowy figures at varying times of the day and night throughout my childhood). I remember going to sleep on my stomach, then waking up in the middle of the night to the feeling of something crawling up my leg, and a kind of weight on the back of my legs and lower back. Like an animal or small object was sitting there. I also recall a feeling of intense fear, but I wasn't pinned to the floor or paralysed or anything of the sort. I felt a pressure sensation, like a poke or bite on my leg, which woke me entirely from any half-sleeping state I had been in previously. I remember standing up, in a disoriented haze, and then looking at my hands, and finally staring at a corner of the room, where I saw a humanoid looking dark blotch standing there looking at me. I remember strong feelings of fear, despair, and anger welling up in me, as well as an intense feeling of being very very cold.

My parents shook me out of whatever trance or daze I was in, and I immediately snapped out of it. I was very shaken by the incident, even to this day I think about it a lot. Before that night, I had been a jokester and had a sense of humor, afterward I didn't laugh or smile very much. Ever since, I've been trying to cope with recurring bouts of depression, as well as (not too long after that incident) the loss of my brother who was very close to me. Sometimes I wonder if I don't still have something hanging on me, causing some of the feelings that I desperately try to live with. I haven't seen any shadowy figures since then. I still have recurring nightmares of a shadowy spider dropping on me or watching me from the ceiling or a nearby wall though.

I've done quite a bit of reading on similar subjects, and while other people have had some minor similarities to what happened to me, I haven't found much in the way of direct cases that compare. As far as I can tell, "shadow people" don't usually attempt to interact with people at all, in fact they're usually scared or shy of people. They seem drawn to negativity, and negativity seems to follow them. I'm hoping that by telling what happened to me it might encourage anyone else who reads this to talk about any incidents they've had. I'm always searching for information to learn more about what these "shadow people" are.

Now for less seriousness: my first post here, hi all!

Although I haven't read all of the pages yet, shadow people now intrigue me more than they used to. I've heard many first-hand experiences in person from people who have encountered them. I used to think them as just something evil, but now that I know better than that, it's facinating.

The first thing I want to ask, is that if there are shadow people, couldn't there be "light" people too? According to my personal beliefs in balance and karma, "light" people have to exist. Has anyone ever heard of "light" people or are shadow people the only things recorded of the such?

Although this probably has nothing to do with real shadow people, in the novel I'm writing, one of the planes is called the elemental plane of shadow. Shadow is an elemental force, such as fire, water, air, earth, etc. Every shadow, darkness, and absence of light, is a gate/tear into this world or plane. I'm not sure how this connects to real life directly, but although it may have a different name, maybe something like the elemental plane of shadow actually exists?

It wouldn't entirely surprise me if there were alternate planes of existence beyond our own. There are some things in nature as well as the universe that point in the general direction of a layered multi-dimensional universe. Which happens to be one of the reasons we have "string theories" in theoretical physics. Some people think there are over 26 distinct planes or dimensions that construct the known fabric and order of the universe and reality as we know it. I would like to believe that at some point in the future quantum physics will stumble upon proof of a multi-dimensional universe, where Einstein and the like failed to prove it. That would be our first step into a totally new view of everything including life, death, and the universe. A humble man can dream, can't he?

Raven, not sure how to reply to your posts(i'm sorta new to forums) I've heard of people seeing light shapes... mostly orbs or twinkles. And like I said I saw a "fire" person. Some are even colored I guess. I believe in other dimensions...you kinda have to infinity is just too mind blowing...we need an ending...with-out one there can be no beginning.
