I live in Japan and I've seen loads of stuff on TV etc about ghosts/photographs. There are a LOT of "orb" photo's, more now then those of figures/faces.
Always, at this time of year, on TV you can see programs about hauntings, shinreishashin, etc... There is even a small book, sold in conveniance and book stores that is a guide to haunted places in the Kanto area.
I bought it last year and went to some places with a friend of mine, some were REALLY creepy! We could see and hear some WEIRD sh**:s07 , stuff that I still have nightmares about now crying.gif screama.gif !!! We took photos, but they all turned out blank- all white and you couldn't make anything out. But, at most places there was NOTHING.

The main difference with Japanese ghosts and western ghosts is that Japanese ghosts almost always have some kind of "revenge" or evil intention (urami). Westend ghosts are almost weak in comparison.

Since I live in The U.S.A., I am very happy that Western Ghosts are weak!!! grin2.gif laugh.gif

I have read a little about Asian Ghost and Spirits and you're right,,,they all seem to be vengeful! Thats an interesting point, Englishman_Japan!!!! thumbsup.gif

First off, let me say it is an honour to meet you. I love Japan and love leanring about it and its culture. I plan to move there when im older.

And ive read about lots of japanese ghosts, and they seem much creepier than the stuff out here in the west. You must be brave to go to those places!

I want to know why westerns ghost are less scarier than what we have here in the east crying.gif I rather meet up with your ghost than the ghost here in the east sad.gif

If you guys want any information on Japanese ghosts, just ask. I know quite a lot. thumbsup.gif
Japan is a really cool place to live, but some of the ghost stories and places are really scary!
There's a place not far from my house that was the scene of a battle a few hundred years ago, sometimes at night you can see some strange stuff going on. There's a shop nearby thats a butchers shop now, it was built (unknowingly at the time of course) on a mass grave! The family who live there have had bad luck for a LONG time, many of them have died at unusually young ages.
There's a abandoned factory in Hokkaido (North Japan) that is supposed to REALLY freaky! crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

I want to go there really bad. I would imagine japan would be more haunted since its been around longer than us anyway!

Hokkaido is so beautiful original.gif . So it seems the ghosts are geographically bound, does it imply they are limited to be there or they are there for a purpose.

So, instead of seeing Patiot's with guns, i'll see Samurai's with swords, right? And ghosts that would like revenge, I will wxpect to see a samurai ghost looking at me and drawing its sword w00t.gif and experiencing something really scary?

That would be scary, actually. I don't know why, when people in the west encounter a patiotic ghost, it ain't pointing its gun.

Do people in Europe experience ghost-like Paladins and knights?

I would like to go to Japan though, it would be a nice experience to see a samurai mounted on a horse in numbers(kinda like genghis khan). A ghost of genghis khan and his horde = w00t.gif X3

Maybe the spirits in Japan are stronger because more people believe in them. Here in England, ghosts are weaker but then if you mention a ghost most people will laugh.

I have seen many strange things here in the UK and believe me they aren't so helpless as you might have thought! I mean for example i was once 'bitten' by a spirit. but that should probably be another topic.

Yeah as i was saying any way, i think its the belief in the spirit that gives it its power. agree??

I've been hit and pulled by ghosts here. There was a place on TV here last night that I want to go to, an abandoned hospital on the outskirts of Tokyo! Looks REALLY scary though crying.gif screama.gif scared.gif Better go packing heat gunsmilie.gif
I don't think it's anything to do with belief at all. One of my friends didn't believe in ghosts at all, until he came face to face with one in the forest near Mt. Fuji. It's so remote there that MANY people fo there to commit suicide. Just walking around you can see clothes, rope, packets of pills, rasor-blades, etc... all abandoned. It's a very creepy place to be. You can't walk 300 metres without finding someones discarded stuff, some people have found bodies hanging from trees, slumped against rocks with rasors/pill packets nearby. It's been on TV a lot too, famous for that stuff.
If any of you come to Japan, and you like weird sh** like that, you should definately go, you'll probably never experience anything like it anywhere else in the world. thumbsup.gif There are not so many ghosts there, but the atmosphere is something you'll NEVER forget. I might be going there on Saturday with my friend if I can get time off from work. I'll try and take some pictures thumbup.gif
