A classic ghost photograph, taken in 1990 by a man in a churchyard at Prestbury, England.

The hooded apparition is said to be the "Black Abbot" that haunts the churchyard

It looks like a classic forgery. The cloaked figure, the graveyard, the darkerning sky - all classic ingrediants for a spooky photograph.
I think that this is a forgery. Possibly in the name of art.

this photo is extremely familiar to me, and if memory serves, it was said that it is indeed a fake, done in the late 80's early 90's to show how easy it is to make one.

very fake. proportions are all wrong and if that really was a shadow, wouldnt it block more light near its base than at its head? there was much more light shining near the bottom of that pic than the top of it.

I have got to admit it, not very convincing at all. However what proof do we have to say that it is a fake or it is not. Really?

the proof is that a camera would not record a genuine object in that manner. it has been manipulated by someone trying to create a fake "ghost" and doing it very poorly

i also think it is out of proportion and does look like it's for a ghost book but you can never be to sure

I can't trust this photo - it doesn't 'feel' real if that makes sense. It looks more like art than real life.

I agree with sageghost. It looks more like a still taken from a movie.

Its a very interesting shot, and when i get the chance, i'll post a colour version of it. It looks amazing, but the proportion is all wrong and the light thing is very badly done. Its another shot where you would need it all scanned and the negatives to really prove it to justice

It is very clear ... it is very fake ...
It looks like it came from a movie ... but it is really very nice ... it is taken from a very good Angle ...

All I would have to do to make a picture like that was to take a picture of mine and to lower the pigments on iphoto on my eMac. That's all.
But- it would make a lovely screen saver or desktop- mostly defiantly a desktop theme.
