Panthera leo atrox

I think it was a reticulated python around 34 or so ft. long.

Right (2nd picture down).
Most of the other pics are green anacondas, which are much more bulky than reticulated pythons and can easily get to 200-300lbs.
I have heard reports of an obese, captive burmese python that weighs over 400lbs.

The picture with the green anaconda and the tribesmen. Is there any information to go along with the picture. That snake is huge. Would love to know if it was weighed. Twice the size of any the snake hunters on TV come into contact with in the wild.

thanks for these great pics.
A couple people said that the largest snake every measured was a reticulated python. I thought Anacondas were the longest snakes, am I mistaken or was this just a really large ret python?

I don't know if this is real or not, but here's a pic I found online. Here's the story; Giant Congo Snake, taken by a Belguim helicopter pilot on patrol over the Congo. Estimated length of 40 to 50 feet, and the triangular head was 2 by 3 feet!

i do love that picture, thanks for posting it...

, thats one of my fave pictures...i've said this before on another topic, but theres 2 snakes in that picture, the main one and a shape to the right that looks like another snake...i've highlighted it, its smaller but i reckon its a second snake...

The anaconda is the heaviest, the reticulated python is the longest.

This pic is odd. I have seen it shown as supposedly a Congo snake and an Amazon snake. Kinda confusing.

I have always been fascinated by snakes. I always watch all the specials on Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel. They are magnificent creatures.
One one show, they showed footage of a snake eating a full grown gazelle with antlers!!!
I was totally enthralled

yeah i had a photo of a snake eating a full grown gazelle, but it was to big to put on here, also there was a photo of a snake who had eaten a boy, but again it was to to big to put on here....

ok i'll have to put them on here small..

have to be small because they were too big full size....

The "eaten a boy" part is fake. The snake had actually eaten some large animal.

They're so slow, though, and people seem to be able to manhandle them without any danger. Maybe if you were sleeping one could get you . . .

ok i was kind of thinking that the third picture, the cut open one didn't seem to match the others, ah well i'm sure a snake has eaten a person anyway, theres just no photos...

Lol, jay cute pic.
I had never noticed that second shape in the Congo pic! Thanks.
These snakes are not that dangerous. Just big. They aren't posisonous and most people can get away from them if they pissed em off. (On land, if you're in the water, you're screwed
