You figure a deer's torso is about six feet long, that would make this guy, what, about 10-12 feet or so?
Not bad. Not huge, but not bad.

Not to say anyone is wrong because i'm stuid and all but, atleast where I come from, there arn't many female deer who messure 6' from sholder to tail...even if it is that big, I really don't see anything remarkable about it.

I think they're great photos. Nothing unusual though, Crocs and Gators are known to grow to 15-16 feet.

Neat stuff
Some of them grow to be real monsters.
I wonder if the one by the construction workers was dragged out of that pipe like structure behind them.
Must be dead - nobody in their right mind would stand that close to a live gator that size.

Reptiles are one of my favourite things to look at.
Here is a slightly more unusual crocodile...

Crocs & gators are seriously scarey creatures
I'm glad we don't get anything like that over here - foxes are as wild and dangerous as we get - unless you live near Bodmin Moors

Acording to The Guinness Book World Records site, the worlds largest Crock is/was 23ft in length and was in a zoo in India.
The largest snake on record was a Reticulated python killed in 1912 in South Asia. It was 32ft 9.5in in length.
Check the site for yourself.

that's actually a fairly large alligaotr. Naomally gators grow to a about 13 feet but that one looks at least like a 16 17 footer. Crocodiles however are naturally bigger they normally grow to about 16 feet however just like that gator they may even grow to be about 19 20 feet. Great picture tho nice

I have a good friend that lives in Bossier city La. I went to visit him one time, and he took me out to "The lake House". I don't remember the name of the lake, but as I looked out at it all I could see was a bunch of half dead trees sticking out of the middle of the lake, with spanish moss in the trees everywhere.
As politlely as I could I ask him what the difference was between a lake and a swamp in La. He told me that the "lake" was just the deepest largest part of the swamp...There was a pier that went out about 30 feet into the deeper part of the lake, the pier had a little boathouse in it that they kept a ski boat and ski equipent in. They loved to ski around the lake...
(Bare with me I'm getting to the point...)
As we walked out to the end of the pier of the lake/swamp I took my shoes off and dropped my feet in the water. After talking for a minute with my friend I kept hearing something splashing around aboutr 30 feet behind us near the start of the doc. I asked him what it was. Without skipping a beat he said: Gator.
Did I mention that my feet were dangling in the water?
I immediately got my feet out of the water and stood up on the pier in defense mode. I asked him if he was serious. He was, and not alarmed in the least that a gator was swimming around 30 feet away from his dangling feet.
I asked him if he had lost his senses by still sitting there and how could he possible go waterskiing in a lake that has gators in it...In his wonderful Louisiana accent he replied; "Gaters don't go into deep water..everybody knows that..." I looked at him in disbelief and said; How do you know that one of the gators doesn't have poor depth perception and can't tell the difference between deep and shallow water?
He just shrugged...
Needless to say I politely passed on the offer to go water skiing that weekend...

thats a big gator. my papas seen one close on eighteen feet (or so he says), but they dont get near that big anymore since theres so many more people around crowding out their elbow room. he says hes never seen one with a deer before, though. and one of the early explorers of louisiana reported to the king of france that they caught one twenty five feet long. thats huge!

Mr Halo! Nice pictures! I've never seen a gator swimming along with a carcass in its mouth, always thought they rip their prey to shreads! (Croc death roll and all that) That gator from the pipe is HUGE! (and the prize for stating the obvious goes to....) Thanks for the pics!

The reason why that gator is swimming with the deer is because, when a croc or a gator kills an animal that is really big they drown it first. The croc or gator will bring the deer into deeper water before head shaking to rip it apart. With an animal that size it wouldnt be killed just by the bite of the gator there fore bringing it into the deeper water would result in a faster death.
