Hmmm why is it that all the movies depic the guy being HUGE and deformed, and using a chainsaw to kill victims. WHen in reality he used a gun, he was small, and he wore womens skin to make him self feel like a woman, because he was a girly kinda guy. Sort of crazy here. The Newest movie also claims to police men went to investigate and they died. What with that?

The movie wouldn't have been as popular if it was called, "Little Quiet Guy With a Gun Is the Killer."

Frig. The movie was VERY LOOSELY based on Ed Gein.
It's not a true story in the least. There is a movie out about him though. You can find it pretty much anywhere.

There's actually about 5 movies very loosely based on Ed Gein the serial killer, not limited to the Chainsaw Massacre.
Even the game, Silent Hill 4, features a serial killer named 'Mr. Gein' who wears womens skins.
These depictions are not real accounts! I think that's pretty obvious.

before i went on the internet to find out if it was real or not I was really scared i slept over at a friends house, there were 3 of us we watched it at 12am and it freaked us out so much we had to all go upstairs to the bathroom together. And we took weapons. But now im not scared....... seems kinda cheesy now.

Pherrett scared the hell out of my step sister after we watched Silence of the Lambs.
He told her that he was reported to be in Australia and she was to scared to go and get her washing off the line

Earthy, are you talking about Gein or the character in the movie?

Cuz Gein did get caught, he died in prison.

idon't know having a small, girlie killer would be quite scary, he could hide in small places and jump out, and look all weird, argh

, but guns aren't very scary when compared to hacking someone to death....

IT IS NOT REAL.
It's loosely based on Ed Gein. Very, very loosely based.

Dear Hellboy:
I have heard and read that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre did occurr. It was an incident that happened many years ago. If I remember right, it happened in between the states of Texas and Arkansas, in a small county there. Apparently the massacre occurred in the late forties or early fifties. I do not have any footage for you. There are some actual photos in the newest movie version of the incident.
At least this is what I have learned.
Thanks

Thye movie was fake. Think Blair Witch Project. Disinterested is correct, the movie is loosely based on the antics of Ed Gein, loosely being the key word.
Don't belive everything that hollywood brings you...

TCM was loosely based on the story of serial killer,Ed Gein and a guy who accidently chopped his finger off when cutting his hedge!
The bit with leatherface was based on Geins fascination with wearing dead peoples skin, and crafting strange ornaments out of their bones and flesh.
I think the Director-Tobe Hooper made up the story as he was going along and put the based on a true story bit to sell more tickets!
Great film though, The remake was a bit crap though!

Silence of the Lambs was also based on the same person, same story.
Is the story in the movie the same? NOPE! Not even close. There is your proof that the movie has no bases in the factual world.

Gee, the maturity in the last post of page 2 just blew me away!
I only just saw TTCM the other day and I thought it was pretty good...
until mum told me that it's based on a true story...(*slept with the light on!*)
The actual story of Ed Gein is that he was obsessed by his overtly religious mother, and he actually had a basement of doom under the house.
When his mother died, he carried on talking to her and preserved every last thing she touched...as well as all her rooms...
You can find more abt him here but if you dont really like gruesome murder stories, dont look at it, it's pretty detailed.
