If you go to MTV.com then go to shows it's still on the website. I think that show is fake. How can a reality show put you in danger of your life? Exactly it can't. laugh.gif

I always like that show and thought it had huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge potential. However, I would have liked to have them change the rules...like if a player leaves, their money would go to the other players. So that way, all the players could try and scare the others that were out there to try and get them to go home, rather than support and hug them. Kinda like an incentive to get the other guy out to get his/her money...

omg i loved Fear so much. that was one of my favorite shows. i remember a couple of summers ago, they would play reruns at 1 in the morning and i would watch it all the time. it scared the crap outta me! i wish they would bring that show back

I used to watch it when I didn't work on the weekends. They used to air it on YTV (Canada) on Friday's at 10pm. Interesting, don't know if it was real though, it was entertaining.

Check this website out, it say's it was canceled. To bad, it's classification say's that it's a game show. So I doubt that they were sent to real known haunted locals.

Actually, a number of places I have seen on the show have shown up multiple times as "Haunted Places" on documentaries and such. I believe that some of the places they were sent were haunted. . . . . cause if paranormal investigators can gain permission to observe and document activities in a location over night, certainly it would not be too extremely hard to rent the space out for an evening's shoot. It was a game show, a competition that played on people's fears of the unknown, of ghosts, of malicious spirits, etc. Their scare tactics were pretty good too. For example, they would send a person to a room with limited light, telling them the "stories" that go along with that particular spot. (Headless body seen walking, someone murdered, suicide, etc.) They were told information about the place that would freak anyone out, and then make them do a dare that had to do with the spot's particular haunt.

Oh, and about not being allowed to put peoples' lives in danger:

I remember one time when a young man was sent up onto a scaffolding and then told the story of a man who committed suicide by hanging himself from the spot where the guy stood. Next to him hung a rope that he was supposed to put around his neck, connected to a sandbag that he was told to push over the edge. It appeared that if he pushed it over, with the noose on, he would be knocked off of the scaffold and strangled. If the rope broke and he wasn't strangled, he would have fallen far enough to risk death. The kid got scared enough that he shoved the bag over without the noose around his neck. Turns out the rope was rigged so that the noose wasn't pulled at all, and he would have simply stood there with the noose loosely wrapped around him.

So while they can't endanger you in an extreme physical sense, they can freak you out with the threat of it. Besides, enough people, in that situation, would be more frightened of the danger the spirits put them in. . . . .

Shame it was cancelled...I knew of enough people that watched it.....besides....I'm hooked on Scare Tactics now....funniest damn thing I've seen in a while...

On saying that tv shows can't put the persons lives in danger... I don't wanna say that fear was fake cause it was sooo good. BUT, I think that there were people there just in case something went horribly wrong... AND, look at fear factor... they make people eat eyes, roaches, rectums etc... now that can't be healthy... also fear factor makes people go into the frigid water, crash cars, jump from speeding semi to another semi and everything else that they make people do... that to me is more fearful than running into some ghosts in a old haunted prison or something... they should do a Fear on Alcatraz... that would be sweet.... so on that note.... i end this one.

MTV makes me sick to my ass. You want to talk about controlled media.....ech......

Its ovbiously fake. But very entertaining though. Even tho it was fake, it would still be damn scary.
TooFarGone
Wicked show. Shame it got cancelled. I used to watch it F4riday nights. YTV used to have a line up of paranormal type shows. Shows that investigated that kund of thing. Used to scare the sh** out of me.
Ha Ha
Loved Fear superficially, but once I thought about it......don't cameras have little red lights that blink when their on? And if these people were already scared don't ya think the blinking red lights would freak'em out even more?

Actually, I think Fear Factor and Fear both had the contestants sign waivers before going on the show. I HATE Fear Factor, but Fear was one of my absolute favorites. A couple of things. First, I read somewhere about MTV holding a casting call for a "new" show that sounded just like Fear, so who knows. Second is about the last nonrepeat I saw. Maybe you guys saw it, too. I believe it was the one about the old mill in Mexico or somewhere. I don't know if the computers got messed up or what, but one of the girls got sent on a mission and had to hang out in radio silence for an ungodly amount of time. When she went back, she had to turn around and go back out again (her color was picked again). So, she goes back out. At this point, only two people, including herself, had had a mission. So, while she's hanging out in radio silence (again) another color gets picked for a different mission. Anyway, the other person couldn't complete the mission while the girl finishes hers up, and both parties come back to the safe house (or whatever it was called). Now, if one person can't complete a mission, another gets chosen to do it. You guessed it, the poor girl who's already done TWO missions (while about 2 or 3 others hadn't done anything), gets picked to complete the uncompleted mission. She quits.

I never saw a new episode after that. My husband and I speculated they got in trouble or sued over that episode. That's why it went off the air. I'd love to know, though. Man, they REALLY did that girl wrong. hmm.gif

These two were pretty good. The first one wasn't completed by any of the contestants (don't think I would've hung around, either grin2.gif ). They had to do a second episode.

My husband said he wanted to go to this place and check it out. I told him to have a good time, and take lots of pics for me to see when he got back.
