Full Version: Modern Succubus?
Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums > Unexplained Mysteries > Ghosts, Hauntings & The Paranormal

This short story comes second-hand from the friend of the man who experienced it. The writer believes it was some kind of Succubus, a demonic entity believed to feed off sexual energy.

'.........Martin, you should know, is a devout Christian of a somewhat rigid disposition. He has little time for anything that smacks of the occult or arcane. (Isn't it a strange thing that so many so-called 'religious' individuals cannot make the intellectual leap from their faith to a more general acceptance of matters spiritual and paranormal!? But I digress! Back to Martin!)
Having checked into his hotel in an ancient central Scottish city, Martin ate a passable meal in the restaurant before retiring to his room, intending to bathe and have an early night: his appointment the following morning was both early and very important!
Relaxed by his bath, Martin crawled under the heavy quilt and soon drifted off to sleep.......
Suddenly he was rudely awaken by the sensation of someone... or thing...sitting down heavily at the end of the bed. For what seemed minutes, Martin could not bring himself to pull the covers from his face to investigate the unwelcome visitor. Abruptly, Martin found his mind filled with graphic and vivid images of a very sexual nature: we shall not be more explicit in this forum! To his somewhat puritanical soul, this was more than Martin could stand! He threw back the quilt and sought the author of his interrupted sleep......

There, seated at the end of the bed, was a semi-transparent naked female, leering at him lasciviously! Falling back on his faith, Martin closed his eyes and began to pray. After a while, the unwanted images in Martin's tortured mind began to fade.....When Martin finally summoned the steel to open his eyes, so too had the strange presence .....

Following a completely restless night, Martin checked out: needless to say, his subsequent nights in Scotland were spent at a more modern hotel!'

Hhmmmmmmmmmmmm...............now I dont know about you, but nearly ALL the blokes I know would jump at the chance of this happening laugh.gif

So anyway - what was it?
A dodgey haggis?
A dream?
Sleep Paralysis?
Or something more sinister..........?

AAH! First! Hammy! You're back! YAY!

Now that that's out of my system.. *goes back and reads the story*

I find that most "Incubus/Succubus" happenings more of the mind, then not. Honestly, we're animals, and we have the same biological urges.

No matter how religious you are... you're still going to have saucy dreams once in a while wink2.gif

Hi Sweetie pie wub.gif

If that had of happened to me I would have said to her "I know what your after, I can see right through ya" grin.gif

Seriously tho, I think the whole experience has been fuelled by his religious ferver and fear.

A few things seem to 'jump' out at me in this story for e.g. 'To his somewhat puritanical soul' suggesting to the reader that these sexual thoughts are in someway alien to this mans mind, which of course is rubbish.

I once read somewhere that men think about sex every 7 secs or something like that..

Anyway, take the fact he is convinced someone sat on his bed, then these sexual thoughts which he claims are unusual add them together, stir in a little fear, add a dash of tiredness, give them a good ol whirl round the mind, throw back the blankies and hey presto a 'naked female'.

Then we see, "the unwanted images in Martin's tortured mind began to fade", again suggestive to the reader that thoughts of this nature are unusual to this mans mind.
I'm not convinced by that at all, I mean even to a christian why would sexual images be torture?? they may well be unwanted but its a bit strong to call them torture, but then of course the reason he is having them is because of this naked female on the end of his bed... which goes against his religious beliefs...

How does he get rid of these images and the 'entity' for want of a better word, he calls on his faith and prays.... which soon puts everything to rights....

Ya know on reflection, this sounds like a story you'd hear in a church on how the Lord can save you from these unpure thoughts, cast out demons, how the devil will tempt you etc etc unless you become saved.....

Anyhoo, is to early on a Sunday morn to be thinking this hard, me brain hurts now sad.gif

I agree whole heartedly, it human nature!

Why can't I be visited by this "naked female" form? wink2.gif I'd probably have to agree with the natural urge thing. Although I still wouldn't object to a visit from this entity he saw... whistling2.gif

From what I understand, you can summon an inccubus or a succubus through envocation.
And also, there is a "spell" for it. whistling2.gif

Yes, it's called not having enough sex, and denying your body it's natural urges.

Your mind is going to start "summoning" them.

Not always SC, actually it is called "witchcraft" envoking the spirits. The inccubus or succubus can be sent to tempt someone. But, may also be used for self gradification because there is no emotional or phyical ramifications or attachment. The spirit is sent to you in your dreams.

And no, not just a wet dream, people say that the "act" with the spirit seems so real you don't realize neccessarly that is was a dream.

But, it is just a dream.....The word incubus is Latin for "nightmare".

And why someone would purposely summon one is beyond me...

Well Teddy - my thoughts exactly.
The clue is in the story..........a deeply religeous man having lewd thoughts...and praying for deliverence.......strikes me as a bit of a corny story. Had the guy been a sceptic or perhaps not a particularly religious person, then I would be more inclined to believe it!!

And thanks for the welcome back Silver original.gif

Incubi, and Sucubi (Incubi are the male ones) are supposedly demons sent to seduce, and weaken the faith and strength of religious and "good" people... to create a "crack in their armour" so to speak. Once this crack is created, the darker forces can start to corrupt the person better.

This is what the Church has believed for centuries. Although there have been documented cases of spiritual sex (The Entity is a book based on one such case), most times it's a matter of the mind having an erotic dream (which according to the Church were also caused by these beings- so you really couldn't win).

I tend to believe that although there are rare- extremely rare cases of spiritual sex, it is more often than not the result of sexual repression expressing itself in a wet dream.

I got a chuckle out of this. Not every "demon" out there is something based in "witchcraft"

Cubi's are really nothing more then nightmares of a sexual nature.
