Here's an interview with the CEO of the company who made the Doom game series - it looks as though a Doom movie is in the works and may be in cinemas as early as next year.
Click HereLets hope they make a good job of it.

Sweet. You'd have to be a pretty damn bad director to screw up a Doom movie.

I heard there is a Duke Nukem movie in the works as well. It seems like originality has gone out the window.
"Lets make a movie about every comic book or game out there so that we don't have to do any actual creating!"

Meh, it's the lastest fad in movies. Movie makers want to make a popular, high-selling movie. They see whats popular, and go with that.

What happened to great original films like Star Wars? Yes, I know the newest additions sucked, but the first few were great. That is a great example of originality.
Granted, I will probably watch the movies, only because there is nothing else to watch because of the overflow of these crappy projects. Lets just hope the outcome is nothing like D&D (LOL).

Well, i guess we're starting to come to the limits of the human imagination. I mean how many new ideas could there be? People can't come up with new ideas, so they remake old ones.

That's BS, BS.
I could write a more original project in my sleep. I think humans are capable of anything. We are very creative, it shows more with music. Of course there are influences, but originality comes from those inspirations.
You could take a concept like Doom, Resident Evil, etc. and turn it into something original. How about a first person shooting movie, that could be cool. Instead of taking the story lines out of games, how about the concept of how the game feels while playing it. that is just an example of how to create something original out of something already done.
I would never doubt the human capability, just the human effort.

The simple fact its alot easier to get financial backing with something that will already draw an audience. Trying something new doesn't always succeed so it is harder to get backing, unless your spielberg or someone with a huge name....

I'm not saying there aren't new ideas out there. Look at phone booth.
Sadly, new ideas currently usually make the director lose alot of money. Better to make something that's a sure bet, like Doom, than take a risk.

I think it would make a good movie and if they can make it why not? They know they will get people to go see it, its from one of the most popular video games ever. It may not be an original movie but its one that people will go see.

To many rumours about the Rock as of late. I hope to god he doesn't do it.
He's also said to replace Schwatznegger in Terminator 4, and maybe even in a Predator 3 movie.
No no no!

"As reported earlier the movie will be directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak who directed "Romeo must die","Exit Wounds" and "Cradle 2 the Grave"
Oh, that's just GREAT.

"Of course there is one main hero that can save the day: John Grimm, a Marine who is nicknamed "Reaper" (played by "The Rock") and stationed at the complex along with his squad."
That's not even the right story. He's supposed to be a redneck buff white guy called Flynn Taggart, nicknamed 'Fly' not REAPER.
Ugh ugh ugh NO good can come of this movie. None.
Thanks for the link. Sadly, it does look pretty reliable.

Exactally! I think hollywood is slowly dieing (well the good one anyway). The only movies as of late (excpet the odd few) are about comic book heros, vida games or ancient battles. And you cant forget all the crap remakes and even crappier sequels to classics...that destory them.
*sigh*...

i love the Rock as an actor, but i really dont think he would be good in Doom. he should just stick to normal action movies. the movie might be pretty good. we'll just have to see.

John Carpenters Ghosts of Mars was originally supposed to be THE Doom movie.
Lack of budget as well as other factors turned it into a second rate B-movie about cops and zombie-like demons. Wee.

Anyway, yo HD, brought REZero yesterday.

Was playing it all night. Just the train, wanna get that part in my head 100% before moving on.
There's a weird feel to this one after playing so much Remake. It moves a little faster, like the dogs holy sh**! But the doors and stuff are much slower. The graphics aren't quite as good, no so much time has been put into the shadows and lighting and stuff. But it's still awesome.
