Has anyone ever heard of a spirit who sprinkles "blue dust"? My six year old niece has seen a little man wearing a suit and a nightcap several times in the last few days. She says he is the Sandman. She says he sprinkles her with "blue dust" but he hasn't sprinkled enough to put her to sleep yet. She also says he has a cat on his shoulder. She says he is afraid of her and bounces from wall to wall and corner to corner. She said he is very tired and cannot sleep. She likes him and intends to try to lure him to her bed by tempting his cat with her cat.

Anyone ever heard of a spirit sprinkling anything? Or an insomniac spirit?

Children DO have an innocence that allows them to see things that, I think, as we grow older, we forget, or lose...

It's NO SECRET that kids are extraordinary people,,,their minds are SO open to SO many things,,,yet they are logical beyond belief. If you don't believe me, just try doing a magic trick in front of a child. They will tell you EXACTLY how the trick is done 90% of the time. With the same trick, you'll dumbfound most adults. laugh.gif

If this girl says that She is seeing something, then chances are that She is,,,I dunno what, but there's probably SOMETHING there.

I've heard of the Sandman before... He's the little guy who put's people to sleep... Although I've never heard about the cat or blue dust...

Maybe you should ask her parents or anyone close to her (friends, teacher, older sibling etc) if they have told her or if she could have found out from somewhere about The Sandman... Is she a fan of The Powerpuff Girls cartoon because one of the episodes of that features The Shandman where she could have got the idea/inspiration from...

You know, maybe her parents told her a story about a little man whose job it is to put people to sleep and she wants to beleive in it so much that she is seeing things or is dreaming this, which she has mistaken for happening in real life. I do that sometimes... dream things and, normally when I first wake up, can't remember or can't work out if it really happened...

Cos I think if she has heard a story from someone it is most likely she is dreaming this or just seeing things in her sleepy state before she finally falls asleep. If she hasn't heard the story of the Sandman from someone then I think I might tend to beleive what she is saying... Cos like the guy said above children pick up on things and see things that older people can't... I've read a few stories about children seeing ghosts of their dead relatives and stuff so maybe she really is seeing The or A Sandman.

YAY!! i found it!! grin2.gif good old google thumbsup.gif

(scat “bung, bung, bung, bung..........)

Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Give him two lips like roses and clover (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.

(scat “bung, bung, bung, bung.….)

Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.

(scat “bung, bung, bung, bung)

Mr. Sandman (male voice: “Yesss?) bring us a dream
Give him a pair of eyes with a “come-hither” gleam
Give him a lonely heart like Pagliacci
And lots of wavy hair like Liberace
Mr Sandman, someone to hold (someone to hold)
Would be so peachy before we're too old
So please turn on your magic beam
Mr Sandman, bring us, please, please, please
Mr Sandman, bring us a dream.

(scat “bung, bung, bung, bung….)

The Sandman is a story told to children. He is a man who sprinkles sand in a childs eye which makes the kid very sleepy and goes to sleep.
It's an adult explain why people sleep.

As real as a Stalk bringing babes, which is also what children believe. I had an imaginary sandman friend when i was a child too. Nothing 'psychic phenomena' about it, just a child believing in the lies that adults tell them.
