Yeah, it's been more than a year now and everybody knew already it's a fake. No offense, you have the tendency to necropost, but when I'm expecting something new, well...you know what I'm gonna say.

Hmmm.... This is so pecular that its going to be bugging e for the next few days.

AAAHH Why do people keep saying dont revive dead threads? If you are new here and/or have not read it, then it is not dead to them. I dont mean to be rude ( and I dont mean just you capoeiranger, but everybody who complains about older threads) but if it is a thread you have read and are bored with then, well, very simply,
Don't read it again. I never saw this before and have enjoyed reading it. ( Fake or not) Sorry I really don't mean to be rude.

To be honest, I'd rather see old threads being re-opened rather than umpteen new threads being made every 6 months. It's a waste of t'internets space in my opinion. I was on a forum once where I got b****ed at by a moron of a Mod who verbally wrapped my knuckles (in a rather pig-ignorant way) for "reviving" a thread on the
second page! How lame is that!?

I gave up on that forum pretty quick because of that one >insert routinely censored sarky word here, personally I like the W-word<.

Right... erm... well, Diplocaulus, contained within the group the Lepospondyls (and probably the ancestors of most modern amphibbies), first appeared probably in the Permain, which started 45 million years before even the Trisassic (which really only showed signs of true dinos towards the end, IIRC), and sort of petered out towards the end. Certainly there is no substantial evidence (if any at all!) of at least the
Diplocaulus species (of which i really do not know the number of genera, unfortunately) surviving any later than "late" Permian which, considering it was between 295-250 MYA, late could mean even as far back as 260 MYA. If you think 65 million years is a long time for dinos to have snuffed it then Diplocaulus should be a winner! Diplocalus was deader than corduroy before even the dinosaurs were first appearing!

But this animal was real at one time. I think it is probably a model too.

Diplocaulus in popular culture
Unknown hammerhead salamanders are reported in cryptozoology from time to time. In 1992, a Japanese artist made a small diplocaulus model which he photographed in a pan on a lawn, as if captured. The photo looked quite realistic and was circulated in 2004 and 2005 on forums such as cryptozoology.com, where many thought it was a real salamander.
In the final episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shinji Ikari is transformed into various shapes, among them a diplocaulus and a hallucigenia.

There are, however, some darned ugly amphibians still around!

Hellbenders (Cryptobranchus alleganiensis) are extremely large, completely aquatic salamanders native to the eastern United States. The largest hellbender ever recorded was nearly 21/2 ft. long.

You need to consider there's never been a vertebrate of this prehistoric a lineage yet discovered. The depicted animal isn't just your everyday salamander or frog. This creature existed before reptiles.
