First off, guess I'll say hi. I generally don't get involved in internet discussions unless I am searching for information. I stumbled on this site a few months ago and been lurking on the different topics ever since.

I've always been interested in the unexplained since I was a child. I am a VERY logical person. I need hard evidence before I draw any conclusions, drives my wife and co-workers crazy sometimes. That being said, I would like to share a UFO story my mother first told me about when I was a kid. I recently brought the subject up again to her so I could get a better understanding of exactly what happened.

So here goes:
She said that when she was around 14 or 15, she and a friend were outside talking. She noticed a light in the sky over a field across from where she was sitting. She pointed it out to her friend and they both were watching it. They got into his truck and rode around the block to a store. As they rode the object followed them. They got out at the store and called to the owners to come out and see it. There were at least 4 witnesses, maybe even more. So, they were watching it, and it was watching them. She said it was just hovering there at tree top height, within 200 feet of her and the other people. She said she couldn't see a solid surface, it was like an orangish light. No sound at all and then it just left in the blink of an eye.

This happend in a rural area, gravel roads and just a small country store. I grew up in this neighborhood. I guess the year must have been around 1971. There are no military bases anywhere around, and the closest metro city is Memphis, about 45 miles away. She said that years later she had a Reader's Digest that had a picture of the object, but she lost the book during a move.

Now, I know that this story is just one of thousands that can be read anywhere on the net. I have read many of these stories, and I am skeptical, yet open minded. If it weren't for my mother's story, I probably wouldn't beleive any of them. To some of you, they are just words on a screen, as are the countless claims that I have read.

Just thought I would share this.

Don't be too light. That is actually a wonderfull story. Are you sure you described the light as best as you could? It sounds simular to a phenominon I've heard of before. Whatever the case, it is an unexplained mystery.

I agree. don't take it too lightly. The time period you refer to the 70s ufos were not something everyone was likely to admit seeing simply due to criticism. I would
definetly give some creedence to her story. alien.gif

There's alway's gonna be a "Taboo" feelin on the UFO subject! Don't worry it's pure ignorance, it's only human! I think we all want to know the truth, skeptics alike? When someone close tells you they've experienced some kinda paranormal experience it kinda hits home, doesn't it? I'm no seer but people of their time i.e H.G.Wells, Aurthur.C.Clark and many others were in their day thought of cranks, but what they saw, has or is happening now! We are spiritual beings, not robots and live by the laws of CHANCE rather than logic, we seem to stumble across things and the Horizon's seem endless. I think what I'm trying to say is, don't be frightened to open your mind and explore the possabilties that we may not be alone in this Universe!
Thanks for letting us here your story Cooter...... thumbsup.gif

Well cooter brown, I believe your story, after all as seventh_son mentioned, back in the 70's, ufos were not something everyone wanted to admit seeing! Due to all the criticism they would recieve from family and friends. It's interesting. Do you think you could get anymore info about it maybe from a few of the others who saw it too?

Draco5832000, you said that cooter brown's story reminds you of a phenomenon you've heard of? What was it? If you don't mind sharing it with us?

Nice to see yall take an interest in this story. I will ask her questions again to give better details. This was what I could remember from a few months ago when it was brought up. As far as talking to others, the store owners are dead now, but I will be sure to ask who else witnessed this. As I said before, I am a logical person, yet open minded. If this weren't my mother telling me this, I would have a harder time believing it. Through all the books, t.v. specials, stories I've read, mom's story has been my foundation of my personal beliefs. I don't take it lightly at all.

My brother had a similar experience like your Mom's; he said I was there but was like one and my parents were too but that my mom was asleep and my dad was driving and didn't bother to look when he told him. He said that a ufo was following us home but when he started to tell people about it no one believed him because he was just a little kid but i do believe him and i do believe there are aliens out there. I'm glad you're open-minded.
