I'm looking for something that I can use to watch cable on my PC. I heard of a card that you can stick in both the cable box and the PC, which I like because it wouldn't need a lot of wire going through the house, but it means that I'll be limited to the channels that I already have and it's a bit expensive at £88.
Is there any software that would allow access to all the cable channels. I think someone told me about this before but that was when I didn't have my own PC.
If I do have to actually buy the hardware for it then can someone recomend a good product? I want to be able to watch the channels on my PC without it affecting the cable and to record it onto my hard drive or burn it onto a CD.

Get a TV Tuner card.

ATI makes good ones. As far as getting other channels, that illegal.

Well I found to a tuner card thats only about $50. Is there a way to get the TV I have on my cable downstairs on the PC I have in my bedroom? The product I found doesn't seem to allow that.

Without knowing how the cable connects in your home you could get a chipped cable box, run that from where it connects to the junction box to your bedroom plug that in to your TV Tuner card with co-ax and get all the cable channels but only pay for the basic.

Well I got a WinTV-2000 card woth Freeview for Christmas, but thanks anyway. At least I get all the regular channels with a few extras which will do for now.
My dad's just got it working. The audio and visual was kind of "jumpy" and still is sometimes but he thinks it could be the aerial cable.
