Are you kidding?
A line you use on a girl/boy you know... when you're trying to pull them....

The best one used on me was, "Hi, care to dance?"
The worst one used one me was, "I want to s*** you like and all day lollipop". This one came from a little old Asian lady with no teeth. I beat a hasty retreat from the bar after that...

I would never use such a cheesy line on a woman! LOL
I tend to go with the traditional, "Excuse me, care to dance?", or "Mind if I buy you a drink?" That last one really seems to work with Exotic Dancers for some reason...
Another good one used one me is this one: "My boyfriend just dumped me, and I'm looking to get revenge- care to help me?"
Another bad one used one me is this one: "My friends bet me I couldn't get a loser to dance with me... so- want to dance?"

What exactly is the difference between a "chat up line" and " pick up line" ?

There is no differance. It's a matter of language. In North America, it's a pick-up line, in the UK, Australia, etc, it's a chat-up line.
Another good one used on me: "Are you as horny as your costume suggests?" It was halloween, and I dressed as a devil.
One of the horrible ones used on me: "Buy me a drink, and I might dance with you."
