Hi wake_up, welcome to the forum!
I've seen the movie, and I thought it was a great story.
It does seem strange that some form of the creature
has been seen before something tragic happens. I don't
know if I would tell anyone if I saw something like that, but
I'm sure my ghostly white face and bug eyes would probably
give me away!

I saw the movie in the theater, I was spooked all the way home( considering I had a hour drive in the woods home at midnight right after it. but I dont think I would tell anyone I dont think I would be sain after seeing it. But also I would suggest reading the book the movie is based on its a great book.

I thought the movie was pants (rubbish) but the alleged encounters in Point Pleasant have their own kind of interesting mystery. Not sure if I believe it, or think it's some kind of mass-hysteria, but it's certainly worth reading up on.

I live just 15 min. from where that happened. my friends got a posse together and went out to the TNT area to check it out. Saw and heard some very creapy things. but to say it was a Mothman. i would not go that far. there were animals on sticks, noises in the bushes..... you know the whole thing. i personaly dont think he is real, i dont mean to offend anyone that does, but i do think that these stories need to be told. if anything just to give us something to hunt for, to dream about, or to just ponder.

As it has already been said, the film is great, but the book is out of this world. Put it this way the book by John A. Keel is the best alien theory I have ever read. It’s a culmination of his 30 years work, published in this book for the first time. For example, If the book was a bath full of water, the film is simply a tea-spoon that has been scooped from it. The film is a little misleading when it comes to what the author actually wrote, but that’s the movies for you. But as I said, if you are interested, then buy the book, or get it from your local library. It will blow your mind, and having you looking at the world in a completely new light! It doesn’t just dwell on Mothman - which is a small part of the book - but on UFO’s the world over, reports, information, everything a genuine UFO lover would dribble over!

i saw the movie before i read the book, about halfway through the book i was starting to get pissed because there was NOTHING in the movie that had anything to do with the book. The last 2 chapters were what the movie was based on and if the movie creeped you out then the book will have you scared shitless. i read alot on paranormal and ufo phenomenon and nowhere else have i been able to read so much about both in one place. dont just watch the movie and let that be it, get the book.

[FONT=Optima][COLOR=purple][B] i am a very gullible person. but if there is evidence like ancient cave paintings showing something like that, it could exsist. people just don't make it a part of their reality.

i find mothman one of the most interesting and intriging mysteries ever! i love the mothman, i became obsessed to say the least! i have a theory they're dark angelic like creatures (maybe fallen angels, no?) of a different reality or dimension who find us inferior yet somewhat interesting. maybe some feel the urge to teach us things, while others find us humourous and like to scare the beejesus outta us and mess with our minds.
i believe that the first sightings of the mothman were genuine, but it all got outta control and so when people saw a harmless bird in the air they automatically thought it was the mothman. i think people were either over exaggerating when they called the mothman hideous or simply making it up for attention. the mothman is an intelligent creature and i dont think he's an ugly mindless monster!
just a theory

i hope the mothman exists as the thought of him inspires me! saw the movie, now i gotta read the book!

I've never seen the Mothman(but I'm sure alot haven't!), but it is quite interesting..
i've looked up articles on the subject, and it's quite mysterious...and cool.
It would be great to see whatever this thing is..

I thought the film was dramatically effective but not a patch on Keel's book.
I love the theory of dark angels, sent here to warn or maybe torment?
Although I did find Keel's style of writing in the early chapters quite leading into the mindset of the book, the facts are quite un-nerving.(':alien:')
If your a fan of Men In Black stories then you'll love this book as it has some very weird and wonderful characters kicking around at the time of the Silver Bridge disaster.
I seem to recall a Conspiracy theory about it as well, a couple of guys seen the day before placing explosives on the bridge.
Note of interest is that a mothman has been spotted in the UK...Wales I believe. Where as Cornwall has the Owlman.
